00.1: A BROKEN HEARTED MAN
London, five years ago.
A man walks sluggishly into a room at the Indonesian Embassy in London, accompanied by his lawyer. Today, he will sign divorce papers with the woman he has been married to for four years. He couldn't simply ignore his heartbreak. His hopes for a marriage that would last until the end of his life did not come true.
His two eyes were blank. Memories of the woman who kept staring at him flashed through his mind without pause. Viona, who was by his side during the most challenging times of his life. Viona, who always jumped into his arms when he returned from work. Viona, who preferred to be alone when anxiety greeted her. Viona, who was always abrupt when her heart was hurt. Viona with her sad face every time she took a pregnancy test. Viona with all her horrible-tasting dishes, even though Dirga was forced to eat before her cry reached his ears. Viona, whose goodness and badness had been accepted by him for four years.
Dirga and Viona received divorce files from an Indonesian Embassy representative in charge of managing various licensing documents. Dirga lowered his head languidly, his eyes glazed over at the sheet of documents in front of him, even though his heart was broken at the thought of becoming a widower in the next few minutes. While the woman in front of him was still crying, she hoped that the divorce decreed by the man she loved would not be followed by his signing the divorce papers.
"Is there anything you want to say before you sign the divorce papers?" Hadi, the Indonesian Embassy representative in charge of the meeting, inquired.
"Honey, please take a look at me! We're still in love, right? Every marriage must have its problems, but divorce is not the solution. We will definitely make it through this."
Dirga was enraged. The more he heard Viona defend herself, the more he despised the circumstances that led to their divorce. He opened the document in front of him right away, reading the sentences on the white paper line by line.
Dirga turned to face Ian, his best friend, and personal lawyer. Ian gently patted Dirga on the back, saying nothing, not nodding or shaking his head. All decisions were made solely by Dirga, without coercion or interference from others.
Dirga grabbed his pen. Viona dashed up to him as he was about to sign the file, placing her hand on the separation agreement.
"Please, honey. Stop it! I can't live without you. Please," she cried pitifully.
"Do you want me to sue you?" Dirga asked sharply, furiously suppressing his rage. The flow of tears on Viona's face was not at all heartbreaking to him.
Viona was terrified of seeing Dirga's hatred in his eyes. She took her hand away from the file. Dirga, on the other hand, immediately signed the approval sheet.
Done! This marriage has ended. Hello, solitude!
Dirga and Ian didn't waste any time. They walked away as soon as the divorce proceedings were completed, leaving Viona and her legal representatives, who could only say nothing.
"Dirga, Dirga, Dirga! Please," Viona called out as she ran after Dirga, who was getting further and further away. Just as Dirga and Ian were passing the embassy exit, Viona grabbed her ex-husband's arm.
Viona remained in front of Dirga, clutching Dirga's arm. Only her tears continued to fall. Dirga was also unable to control himself, and clear grains dripped from both ends of his eyes.
Dirga drew Viona into his arms and held her tightly for a moment. He kissed his ex-wife on the top of her head. Fiona gave him a sad look. The woman pulled Dirga's neck, tiptoed, and kissed his lips, causing him to sob even more. It hurt too much for him to accept all of this. His marriage had to end in the worst possible way at a time when his love for his wife was so strong.
"You really destroyed me, Vi," Dirga sobbed.
"I love you, honey. Only you. Please," Viona sobbed once more.
Dirga shoved Viona aside. He wiped away his tears. He took a deep breath, held it in his lungs for a moment, and exhaled slowly, several times, trying to keep his emotions under control.
"Take care of yourself and your womb!" Dirga exclaimed firmly.
And the man quickly resumed his steps, leaving Viona, who was becoming increasingly sad.
