"Is the surgery doable?"

The girl with delicate features caught me off guard. I tried to warn her, but she shut me down without a second thought. My face burned, yet I shook it off and set up the procedure.

Then the door flew open with a loud bang, and a man barged in.

I opened my mouth, but before I could speak, she cried out.

"Honey!"

The girl flung herself into his arms and clung to him like he was her lifeline.

As I watched them embrace, ice flooded my veins, and my blood ran cold.

It hit me like a ton of bricks: the man she called her husband was my own, the same man I had married two years ago.

Chapter 1
"Doctor, can I get vaginal widening surgery? My husband is... you know, huge. I can't take it." I stared at the petite woman, thrown by her request. Most patients wanted tightening or hymen restoration, but widening was a request I could count on one hand. After examining her, I confirmed she was tight, sure, but nowhere near needing surgery. I tried to dissuade her, but she refused. "My husband's size is just too much for me," she whispered, her cheeks flushing. "He holds back every time because he's afraid of hurting me. I can't stand seeing him suffer. Please, just schedule the procedure." My traitorous mind conjured Ethan Brooks: his girth, the nights he had left me limping. My face flamed like I had been slapped, but I buried the memory and scribbled her appointment. Then the door flew open with a loud bang, and a man marched in. Before I could speak, the girl launched herself into his arms. "Honey!" My blood iced over as their embrace burned my retinas, because the man she clung to was my husband: the one I had shared a bed with for two years. Ethan frowned down at Mia Lane. "If my secretary hadn't spotted you here, were you really going to alter your body behind my back? I told you, my needs don't matter. Don't carve yourself up just to please me." Her voice cracked like a wounded bird's. "But watching you hold back breaks my heart." His thumb brushed her cheek, his voice dripping honey. "Sweetheart, you're all I need. s*x means nothing compared to you. I would go celibate forever if I had to." Mia's eyes brimmed with tears at his declaration. They were wrapped up in their own little world, and Ethan was completely absorbed in Mia, so much so that he did not even notice me standing there. 'I might as well have been invisible.' Just last night he had been nuzzling my neck, our bodies fused together as he took me roughly again and again, and now here he was swearing off s*x for another woman. "Come on, let's go home," Ethan said, tugging at Mia's hand. But she dug in her heels, a blush spreading across her cheeks. "Ethan... I still want the surgery. I want to make you happy. And I want to have your baby." Ethan's face turned stony. "Not at the cost of your health," he said firmly. As they stood there locked in their quiet battle, a pen clattered off the desk. Ethan turned and froze when he saw my ashen face, his pupils contracting sharply, but within seconds he had schooled his features. "Come on, sweetheart. Let's go home," he said gently, leading her away without a backward glance. I sank into my chair, frozen. My chest tightened like a vise, and each breath came aching. Never in my worst nightmares had I imagined Ethan would cheat, yet here was the truth slapping me across the face. I pressed my hands against my face as tears burned down my cheeks, and the clinic's fluorescent lights hummed overhead until a sharp knock startled me: the nurse outside reminded me of my waiting patients. Biting back tears, I forced myself back to work. I watched the clock crawl toward the end of my shift. When it finally came, I moved on autopilot, my body numb as I trudged home. My wedding band felt like a shackle. The house was dark as a tomb, and my fingers had barely grazed the light switch when a heated presence molded against my back. That familiar sandalwood scent: Ethan. Before I could gasp, he had flung me onto the sofa with predatory grace. After catching him red-handed, I never expected him to skip explanations and just claim me like some conquest. I bucked and twisted like a wild thing. "Get off me!" He manacled my wrists with one hand as if I weighed nothing. "Not in the mood?" My voice shook. "Not even a goddamn explanation, Ethan?" 'How could he stand there looking so unruffled, like this was just another Tuesday?' He dismissed me with glacial calm. "She won't interfere. Play the oblivious little wife." The words punched through me like shrapnel. "You're joking." "Her body can't take me, and she's too fragile to bear children. Keep warming my bed when convenient." His phone buzzed with the vulgar glow of incoming wealth: five million bloody dollars. "Quit the hospital." My lips moved soundlessly, but then his phone shrilled like an alarm. Ethan disengaged from my body like shedding a coat, his voice dripping honey. "Be there in ten." The door slammed like a guillotine blade behind him. Frost spread through my veins with every hollow thud of my heart. 'Only one person made him use that tone: Mia.' The dam broke as hot, silent rivers carved canyons down my face while I stabbed my phone screen. "Get the papers ready. I want out."
