Chapter 3

Perpective of Emily Rose. It's unbelievable! Can this even be real? Could it be that I am merely trapped in a dream, soon to awaken and realize that all of this was nothing more than a wild cinematic spectacle playing out in my mind? Then, I would return to my mundane existence. I must have repeated those words to myself at least seventeen times. I discovered a severely injured wolf in the woods, a creature that inexplicably transformed into a man. Despite his injuries, he was the most strikingly handsome man I had ever laid eyes on. What on earth had just happened? I've watched vampire movies like Twilight, but they never resonated with me. I've always struggled with the concept of faith, never quite able to believe in a higher power. It's for this reason that I didn't vocalize my shock at this bizarre, terrifying, and utterly extraordinary event. I made a concerted effort to mask my fear, suppressing the tremors in my hands and legs. The creature was a wolf, yet he bore an eerie resemblance to the stuff of nightmares. Simultaneously, he was breathtakingly beautiful. His coarse fur was so soft that it felt like silk under my touch. The sensation lingered on my skin. And then he became a man. A man so extraordinary, it was almost unbelievable. His face was perfectly square and symmetrical, adorned with high cheekbones, a straight nose, perfectly formed lips, and a chiseled jawline lightly dusted with stubble. His long eyelashes were the kind that would make any woman envious. His thick eyebrows furrowed slightly when he focused, a trait I noticed when he was scrutinizing me. His hair, although a different color, felt just like the wolf's fur, silky smooth. While the wolf's fur was almost a silvery white, the man's hair was a deep, dark brown. He slept for a while, giving me time to figure out how to alleviate his pain. He had a grievous wound in his chest, the kind that would normally prove fatal due to the significant blood loss and tissue damage. But his body was healing, albeit at a painfully slow rate. I was already reeling from the sight of a man transforming into a wolf. But witnessing his ability to heal was even more astounding. I've seen my fair share of oddities at work, but never have I seen anyone accelerate their healing process. I watched in awe as his skin began to knit itself back together. It was beyond comprehension! I thought that he was no longer in immediate danger, but that was a grave misjudgment on my part. I had assumed that a few blood transfusions, IV fluids, and painkillers would suffice. But I was mistaken. His condition was deteriorating. The chest wound had worsened, the stitches torn apart. All my efforts seemed to have been in vain. I felt utterly helpless. After I had cleaned and sutured the wound, it was pristine. I had witnessed his body's cells repairing themselves. His lung capacity was consistent, his blood pressure stable. What had changed? I managed to stabilize him once again, then retreated to the bathroom to clean up. His blood was smeared on my hands, clothes, and the cabin floor. The scene resembled a horror movie set! The moment my hand softly brushed against his, an electric sensation sparked from the point of contact. This wasn't a one-time occurrence; every time our skin met, it happened. It was an intriguing sensation, a pleasant one. There was an oddity in the way he made me feel, even in his slumber. His touch was the only thing that stirred a fluttering sensation in my stomach, a nervous excitement. There was an undeniable connection between us. I couldn't comprehend what was happening, but I was certain it wasn't a figment of my imagination. I vividly recall the first time I gazed into his eyes. They were a rich brown, reminiscent of molten dark chocolate or the damp bark of a tree after a downpour. I could almost sense the earthiness when he was teetering on the brink of death, sprawled on the ground, smeared with blood and mud. There was an irresistible allure in his eyes, a mischievous glint within their beautiful darkness. He had a particular way of looking at me, a way no man had ever looked at me before. Perhaps I was his only hope. Or maybe I was letting my imagination run wild. Regardless, I was determined to save him, to aid him, to restore him to health. But the question remained, how? In my compact kitchen, I brewed a cup of coffee and pondered over the enigmatic man in my care. There was something distinctively different about him, beyond the fact that he was a werewolf. I couldn't pinpoint it, but I felt an inexplicable unease around him. He had a certain allure, a magnetic pull that drew me in. I was desperate to help him, but I was at a loss as to how. When he had his seizure, I was behind a table, engrossed in my computer projects. His body convulsed violently, his muscles twitching uncontrollably. His hands transformed into claws, his mouth filled with sharp teeth. I was horrified, unsure of what to do. I reached out to everyone I could think of, but no one knew how to remove the silver from his bloodstream. The transfusions improved his condition but didn't heal him. I always kept a few bags of blood in my refrigerator due to my grandmother's rare disease. But I was running out of supplies, and he wasn't improving. I contemplated taking him to the hospital but was unsure of how to explain his condition to the medical staff. He's likely a werewolf. His chest wound heals and reopens repeatedly. He's running a fever of about 50 degrees and is battling an infection. Oh, and by the way, I'm perfectly sane! What a load of nonsense! Now what? I didn't even know his name. I wiped away my tears as I leaned against the kitchen counter, trying to clear my mind. Crying never helped. When I returned to him, he was lying on the couch, covered with one of my blankets. He seemed peaceful, as if he was lost in a pleasant dream. I found myself staring at him. He was so incredibly handsome that I had the urge to kiss him. What on earth was happening to me? He was in a critical condition, and here I was, fantasizing about him! Get a grip!
