Roan POV
The thought of the white wolf keeps dancing in my mind, as its image keeps popping up in my head. That night was the only time I've seen it after the incident in the castle a month ago. Since I was saved by her the last three nights, I have been to the woods two times to search for her, but luck doesn't seem to be on my side.
The thought of the black wolf appears in my mind and I sigh deeply. I've been thinking and trying to understand why the wolf came to attack me, but I still haven't been able to come up with something. If only I had a wolf, maybe I would've been able to fight for myself, or maybe I would've been able to recognize where the wolf was from.
The knock on my door pulls me back to reality, and I sigh again sitting up on the bed and looking at my door that's locked.
"Levi, my prince," I have been demoted to a prince instead of an alpha, so I'm not surprised that he called me that. Calling me 'my lord' is as good as dead. The chiefs will not spare anyone that dares to try such a thing.
"The chiefs seek your presence," He announces and I pull a puzzled look. Why would they want to see me? I hope this has nothing to do with them frustrating me again.
"Alright. I'll be there in a few minutes," His receding footsteps echo along the hallway and I presume he's gone.
I stand up from the bed and exit my room, heading to the throne room afterward. Stepping into the throne room, I spot beta Ryder sitting on the throne and looking all proud and happy. He hasn't said a thing about everything that has been happening, which makes me suspect that he has been happy about it. If he wasn't, he could've at least talked to me about it, or maybe advise me.
The chiefs all look as though they're disgusted by my presence. None of them fail to show on their faces, how much they hate me and how much I disgust them. Lord Erik is the only one that has a pathetic look on his face.
"Greetings," I greet the new alpha. There's no way I would address him as 'my lord'. He's a traitor and doesn't deserve my respect. I know you may be thinking that 'is it his fault that he was given the throne?' I don't care about that, he looked extremely happy when he was crowned, and he didn't look like he was loyal all along.
"Roan..." He calls in his usual cold voice, as he stares at me as though he wants to see through me. The look on his face shows that he has something under his sleeve that he's yet to unveil.
"After deliberating on this, we have concluded that you have to leave the castle. You're a curse to our kingdom, and we cannot continue to live here with you. You'll always remain a speck of dirt in our..."
"Enough!" I cut beta Ryder off. I have been expecting this to happen, but I wasn't just sure of the time it would happen. Now that he has decided to bring this up, I'm going to leave the castle, but he'll surely get it from me.
"You have no right whatsoever to talk to me in that manner, beta Ryder. I am still the heir to the throne, no matter how things have turned out to be. I thought you were loyal to my father but turns out that you're nothing, but a traitor. You don't have to go through the stress of banishing me, I will leave. But be reminded that I'll come back, and you'll regret everything you're doing now. Not just you alone, but I'll make sure I make all of you, pay for everything! Until then," I stride to the door and storm out of the throne room afterward.
I head straight to the garden and burst into tears. Everything sucks, I feel like taking my life, but that's not the best thing to do. They must all pay for the pain I'm going through now.
I take a few minutes walk in the castle and I finally stop at the temple to say my last goodbye to my mother and father.
Staring at their ashes, tears fill my eyes as I feel my heart heavy and pained. It hurts to say goodbye, but I think sometimes it is also good to say it.
"Mother... Father... How're you doing today?" I squat down in front of the ash, tears falling from my eyes uncontrollably.
"I have to go now, but I promise to find the people that did this to you, and make them pay a thousand folds of your death. I'll make sure that I avenge your death and bring justice to you. Wait for me here, I'll be back, but not as the weak Roan that you both left behind," I say my last words and with that, I stand up and drag my feet from the temple.
I head straight to the stables and mount my horse. I ride out of the gate and stop. I take a last glance at the castle before I finally speed through the darkness.
The ride to the penthouse is stressful as I arrive almost an hour later. The door is already locked, so I guess Giselle must asleep by now. It's late already, so I'm not expecting her to still be awake by this time of the night.
I climb down the horse and sit in front of the gate, crashing my back on the wall. I rest my head on the wall, staring into the thick darkness as I wallow in my thoughts. The sky is dark and thick, it looks like it'll rain soon. Tears slid down my cheeks as I stare at the sky.
The sky suddenly rumbles and in the next seconds, the rain starts falling heavily. I allow the rain to fall and get me drenched, the horse keeps me busy with its neighs as it also gets drenched by the rain.
The rain suddenly stops falling over my body, and raising my gaze slowly, a figure welcomes me with an umbrella over my head...
