Ariana POV
I'm so happy that I came to school today. At least, I can get to see Roan for hours before we both part ways for today again. Seeing his handsome face makes me less worried and sad. Of course, I have been down and so sad after the incident of days ago. I still don't know what my parents, especially my father are going to do about it. But whatever they're going to do, I don't want to imagine them sticking to their promise or whatever they called it. I can't be with that man, and that's it.
The look on his face when I talked about the test, makes me suspect that there's something about him that he's trying to hide. Again, my curiosity heightens, but there's no way I would ask him about it, right? Besides, I'll still find out as time goes by.
It feels so good talking to my crush, however, my happiness is cut short when an unexpected person shows up. It's the lady that was pronounced as his mate a couple of weeks ago. My heart aches at the sight of her, but I try to cover up my sadness. I know he's already mated to someone else and I shouldn't be crushing on him, but I can't help it. He already captured my heart, and I have completely fallen deeply in love with him. The way he makes me feel, the way he makes me blush and everything, no man has ever given me those crazy feelings before.
Looking back at him, the look on his face speaks volumes of his shocked state. I think he wasn't expecting to see the lady in the school or something like that.
"Hello, students. Here's our new student. Please introduce yourself," That's when I notice that a teacher is in class. She was the only one I saw entering the class, maybe I was too lost to notice the teacher's presence.
"Greetings, students. My name is Octavia, I hope you'll treat me right?" She smiles naturally at everyone, but behind that smile, all I see are many secrets yet to be unfolded. Something keeps telling me that she's here on a mission, even if I don't know her motive for being here.
"You're welcome to Magic College, Octavia. Please go over there and sit down," The teacher points to Roan's seat and my heart tightens in pain. I watch as she walks elegantly past me and sits down beside Roan.
"Alright, everyone. As you all know, the magic testing is going to kick off today, at exactly 11am, so you all should be in the hall exactly ten minutes before the time. Don't bother to show up for the test, if you're a minute late, but you should wait for your expulsion letter instead," The teacher announces and with that, she strides out of the class. Our magic teacher is one of the most strict teachers in school. You won't want to be late for her class or her test, that'll be the end of you being in school. She has expelled so many students from the school. Some were lucky to be admitted back after their parents pleads on their behalf, and some never got admitted back into the school. Miss Astrid is the teacher you would never want to mess with.
"Aren't you happy to see me? You look like you're terrified by my presence. Am I that scary?" The sarcasm in her voice echoes in my ear. Though her voice isn't too loud, I still manage to hear her.
"Meet me at the school rooftop, now!" I hear Roan's voice. He stands up and storms out of the class, looking all angry. I glance back at the new girl, and the smirk on her face confirms that she has something under her sleeve.
I watch as she stands up and strides to the door, exiting the class afterward.
Even if I want to ignore them and mind my business, something keeps pushing me to follow them and the more I try to compose myself, the more my curiosity pushes me to go find out what's happening. After trying to restrain myself for minutes without it working, as if something is controlling me, I suddenly stand up and stride to the door, exiting the class afterward.
I keep telling myself that what I'm doing is not right, as I walk through the hallway that leads to the stairs, but my curiosity has turned deaf ears to all of my self-restraints. I finally get to the stairs and I climb them slowly, making sure that my footsteps can't be heard by anyone. I finally get to the rooftop, and as expected, the two of them seem to be in a hot argument. Since I'm still kind of far from them, it's difficult to hear what they're arguing about.
I tiptoe to the nearest pillar and hide behind it.
"I ask again, Octavia, what the heck are you doing here, you traitor?" He asks her, anger resounding in his voice. But wait! I thought she was his mate? How come he looks like he doesn't like her?
"And I ask again, Roan, is your insecurity messing with your brain now?" She replies sarcastically, and I must confess that this is confusing me. What does she mean by insecurity? Could it be that he's jealous of her seeing another man here? That's disgusting if that's the case.
"How could you? I trusted you..."
"Well, that was the biggest mistake of your life, Roan. You're the one to be blamed. How could you have kept something like that from everyone? I don't blame any of those chiefs, I'm sure you would do the same thing if you were in their shoes," Now this is getting more than being jealous. I think there's more to the argument than what I'm just hearing.
"If you're scared that I might tell people your dirty secrets here, then I can't promise you that I won't. Besides, people deserve to know who you are," Her sarcastic voice sound through my ear.
"Don't try something stupid here, Octavia. I'm warning you," He warns with all seriousness in his voice.
"Well, let's see how long you can take this. Excuse me," I hide behind the pillar as I watch her walk away.
"Come out," I gasp sharply as his voice sound through my ear. What! Don't tell me he knows that I have been standing here?...
