Chapter 2

Drey’s POV

My parents came to spend the weekend and left my younger sister under my care because they had business in the clan to take care of. My house is the safest place for her since a good number of people from the other clan think I died doing a job for my father.

I hated the fact that my dad is a drug lord and he covered his tracks by being a business tycoon with large firms.

I woke up feeling sore cause over the weekend my dad had people build a training course in my backyard and said I needed to train for my safety and my sister's safety. Now I feel like my Father has involved himself with some shitty people. My younger sister Daniella wasn't ready to attend college and no one forced her to.

Regardless waking up with a sore body on a Monday morning, I heated some leftovers for myself and Daniella, after eating i went up stairs to get ready for school, I did not want to go early then I remembered Jacqueline's Monday timetable, we're good friends and I always look forward to seeing her. When I was done I left, I did not even check up on my sister cause I wanted to meet up with Jacqueline at her place to pick her up. We live in the same estate but our houses are not that close, If I don't drive it will be like twenty to twenty-five minutes walk to her place.

When I got there I texted her to come out. I came out from my car contemplating if I should knock to go in or I should wait till she gets my text, surprisingly she came out fast with a smile plastered on her face, it felt like she was checking me out cause she stared for a while and i didn't mind cause I did same, I love the fact that she doesn't need to go all out to look good, anyway she got in and then I drove off to school. When I got to the premises and parked at the student car park a lot of students are always wooed by my car and I love it, before I could even turn off the engine, Jacqueline thanked me for the ride and jolted off to class and I did same after smoking a little in the car.

After class I got tired of school and was about leaving, I still had another class but I just wanted to go back home, then I saw Jacqueline in the hall focused on her phone, I walked up to her to know if she was done and if she'd like a ride back home but she declined because of her friend Tracy so I had to attend my last class just to wait for her.

When I was done I still waited a while in my car then I got a text from her, she met up with me then I drove off. She told me she just remembered she's not going home because she had to go to work, so I drove her there instead. The car ride was a bit quieter than usual, so I had to ask if everything was fine

"Jacqueline, are you good?"

"Yeah I'm okay just tired and upset that I could not see Andrew today, we have not been talking much lately and if I ask it's always something coming up" she responded

Then I just tried to reassure her that everything is fine that maybe his getting his s**t together, that he would eventually come around. It angers me that she and Andrew are dating and he's treating her like some side piece and she doesn't see it like that, or probably I'm just angered cause I never liked him from day one. After all, his father is my father's rival.

Right from time no one in school knows who my father is cause my father never let us answer the family name at school. After all, he felt it might endanger us, so we answered his middle name so a good number of people do not know, but Andrew answered their family name so it was easy to dig him out, maybe Andrew liked the "respect" more like fear most teachers give to him. Then I dropped her off at the eatery she works at every time, I honestly had no idea there was an eatery called the Shaks here in Cleveland, Ohio and they have good stuff too. I went back home to meet my sister Daniella so we could go out to eat lunch. I got home took my shower and after putting on some clothes grabbed my keys and waited for Daniella in hopes she doesn't go all glam like we are going to a fancy restaurant cause we're going to the shaks. After all, I just want to see Jacqueline again. It's not that I like her I just want to be an encouraging friend by giving her a tip.

"Drey, how do I look?"

I did not even turn back to look at Daniella.

"good"

I stepped out to wait for her by the car. Then we left for Shaks.

Jacqueline’s POV.

I'm so glad Drey helps me out on Mondays to get to school and work. I got to work and changed into my uniform, Luckily for me the eatery wasn't busy, so I went to meet my colleagues at the front desk.

"Hi Jacqueline, it's so good to see you", Camilla said welcoming me with a huge smile,

"How are you?" I hugged her asking, then she responded cheerfully saying she's good.

"I have some news for you Jacqueline and I hope you won't turn me down"

Then I told her "I can't make any promise but I'd try"

"I'm hosting a party on Friday night at my place and I'd love for you to come, You can come with your friends too the more the merrier"

I just had to ask what the purpose of the party was, then she laughed and shrugged her shoulders saying I should loosen up a bit that it's just a party to ease the week's stress, that she prefers house parties to clubbing. Then she looked at me with her beautiful blue pleading eyes to persuade me and I gave in, hoping I won't bail or regret going later.

I then saw a pretty blonde girl walk in with Drey following her behind, I had no idea Drey had a girlfriend so I went to do my job by taking their orders and left to give the chef.

After working hours taking orders and serving customers, I got tired and walked home since it was 8 pm and I enjoyed the evening cool breeze. I took out my phone and called my boyfriend Andrew, thankfully he picked up on one ring.

Hey babe you've been unavailable and distant today, you were not even in school today, anyway hope you're good?

He just responded with "he's good, he'd text or call later that he's a bit busy"

I was so mad, pained, angered but I kept my cool and just said okay and I hung up.

Instead of having a peaceful stroll home, my mind is now filled with different thoughts of Andrew is cheating on me that's why he's being distant but I thought we've outgrown that cause back in high school he was the dream of every girl and he took that opportunity until we started dating and I noticed he was not his old s*x boy self cause he knew how much I hated that side of his personality. Anyway after much thinking I got home tired then I went upstairs to my room to take a shower, went back down to meet my grandma in her room. There are two other rooms upstairs but my grandma decided to stay in the one down cause she doesn't want to stress her leg and I understand that.

I knocked twice before I opened my grandma's room door "Grandma" I whispered cause I didn't know if she was asleep already, and I guessed right my granny was fast asleep and the caretaker must have gone home already, so I just made dinner and went to bed.

Days passed with the same routine and my boyfriend did not care if I was still breathing, it hurts but I just had to not think much about it, I texted him everyday and got no response, so on Thursday I messaged him saying I wanted to see him and it was urgent but no response still.

I told Tracy about the party cause I did not want to go alone so she slept over at my place not like it was a Friday morning party we just decided to skip our Friday lectures to have a stress-free and fun-filled day.

"Jacqueline let's go to the mall to get something we can wear for the party cause we both don't even have an outfit" Tracy said with so much joy and I'm afraid she might dress me like a slut to the party.

"Also invite Drey to the party so we could have a means of transportation" I just laughed cause she only remembered him cause of his car

So I texted Drey

Me: "Hi"

Dreyy: "Heyy"

Me: "Are you free tonight?"

Dreyy: "Is everything good?"

Me: "Yeah, I just wanted to know if you'd like to go to Camilla's house party tonight"

Dreyy: "Ohhh yeah she told me about it, I'd be there", "since you're going too I'd come by at 8:30"

Me: " okayyy thank youu see you at 8:30"

"Sooo he's coming by 8:30 we have enough time"

Let's go down to greet my grandma

"Grandma!!!" I walked into the dining room then saw she had just finished her food with the caregiver clearing her table.

I hugged her, while Tracy greeted her with good morning

"Grandma I've missed you so much, Whenever I'm free you're very tired or asleep"

"That's because you come back home late from work, darling it's high time you stop that job of yours cause you don't even need the money, your parents put you on a really good monthly allowance and you don't buy stuffs in this house so what do you need extra money for"

"Grandma, do you want a lazy grandchild?" I asked rhetorically and I answered, "I guess not, so..."

"Why did you and your friend not go to school today?" My granny cut me shut

"We both decided to take a mental health day for ourselves" Tracy chimes in.

"And grandma we'd both be going for a birthday party at Camilla's place and we won't come home early" I added

"Since it's Camilla then there's no problem and I'm used to you not coming home early, just be safe mi nieta"

"Okay, abuelita", kissed her cheek and went into the kitchen with Tracy to get some tamales cause they smelled so good, all thanks to the caregiver cause I can't even cook this good to save my soul.

After eating I went up to take my bath and brush my teeth, then Tracy did the same, By the time we were done it was already afternoon.

"Jacqueline why did you tell your grandma it was a birthday party"

"Well, it's a party isn't it?, If I don't tell her like that she might not want me to go and I don't have the strength to sneak out"

"Oh yeah that's true," Tracy said agreeing, " remember when your boyfriend hosted a party on his father's yacht and we snuck out, coming back home to meet a furious and angered abuela?" Tracy said while laughing

"Yeah, I remember" Then I joined her in on the laugh. It's funny now but wasn't funny then.

We watched cartoons and I fell asleep, but when it was 2 pm Tracy dragged me out of bed so we could go to the mall. I had to order a ride so we won't wait at the bus stop for the next bus to the mall.

When we got to the mall, we hadn't even checked for our outfits, Tracy was whining and complaining of hunger so we had to go to the food section.

Tracy had Chinese rice with some sauce then I got a burger, yes I know I love burgers I can't get tired of it. I was done with mine before Tracy and while waiting for her my mind just wandered off to think of my falling relationship with Andrew He did not even respond to my text or return any of my calls.

"Jacqueline, Jacqueline!" Tracy said while waving her hand close to my face

"What are you thinking of?... Andrew?"

"Yeah"

" well think no more cause his table is not too far from ours and he's with a girl " Then Tracy took a picture of them discreetly and showed it to me and the girl in question was Camilla, i was still giving him a little benefit of doubt so I won't break down there and then. Tracy then said we should get going but we passed the other end so I won't see him.

At this point i did not feel like going to the party but Tracy was like I need to so I won't be all up in my tears and said maybe they’re just friends but it did not help because he has not made any effort to meet up with me but he can make out time to be with Camilla.

I tried to shrug it off so I could have a good time at the party. We ended up buying a body hug top with a U-neck that will show off Tracy's boobs with a nice denim short that looks like a skirt in front, then I got a brown sexy romper that compliments my body then we went back to my place.

We had our bath cause we were both sweaty, Tracy did my hair and I did hers, when I checked the time it was already 7:30, Tracy did some make up too but i didn't cause I love my natural face, I don't hate make up but if I'm asked to choose between going out with a full blown make up or just lipgloss I'd choose my lipgloss, I'm sure Tracy is tired of me cause she tried persuading me but I refused.

Anyway, I paired my brown romper with a white canvas, while Tracy wore some short comfy boots that had a little block heel, By this time it was already 8:20 and I got a text from Drey saying he's on his way. I went to my granny's room to check up on her and she was fast asleep, I heard the doorbell and I kissed my abuela before meeting up with Tracy and Drey in the living room.

Then I hugged Drey, i planned for it to be a quick hug but when I let go he still had me in his arms, I looked up to see his face properly and he smiled "Jacqueline you look so f*****g beautiful", a genuine smile was plastered on my face, i was happy cause sometimes I get insecure about my body and he makes that insecurity go away.

"Uhhm uhmm", Tracy fakes a cough, "you guys should go get a room" Then she laughed walking ahead of us towards the car, This time Drey let go of me so we could meet up with Tracy so we could leave for the party.
