“I am in love with you, Eva. I want us to start our love story together. I am sorry for everything I have done, because I need you” Arnold's words drive shock into Eva's spine.

Eva wasn't expecting a day like that. Arnold had always been cruel to her, as a boss and person in general. She had reached a contract with Arnold solely because of her mother's health. Living with Arnold had always been hell.

But it all changed when Arnold realized his love for Eva. At this time, he’s already engaged to her friend, Rebecca.

What is going to happen from here?

Chapter One
Eva pushed the door open as she tried to exit her boss's office. It was her duty to make sure she cleaned the office every morning before his arrival. “I am sorry, sir.” She bumped into her boss and mistakenly spilled a cup of water on his shirt. This was a really tense moment because she could see her boss fuming in great anger. “Ugh, what is the matter with you?” Arnold asked angrily. Arnold had just arrived at the office in an awful mood, and this was not the best way to start his day. This shows how careless Eva is. “I am really sorry, sir,” Eva kept pleading to receive mercy from her boss. But Arnold is a man who hardly lets a mistake go unpunished. “I will let you go today because it is just a glass of water. Next time, you'll be pleading that I should let you die.” He threatened, with a firm look on his face. “Thank you so much, sir.” She scurried off from his sight before he could change his mind. “That was close,” Eva said under her breath. She had other places to clean in the company as well. “Good morning, Rebecca,” she said. She was on her way to the changing room when she met Rebecca gorgeously walking into the company. Rebecca and Eva have been friends since high school. Eva wasn't fortunate enough to go to college anyway, but Rebecca had the opportunity, by the way. “Hey, Eva. You're looking tense this morning. I hope everything is alright.” She could read through the expression on Eva's face with ease. “Yes, I just spilled a cup of water on the boss this morning. I barely escaped his wrath,” she replied, as she heaved a deep sigh of relief. “That was close. He's easy to anger.” Rebecca smiled as she gave Eva a soft pat on the back. Rebecca walked to her office. While Eva returned to her work. When Eva was done for the day, she used some little money she had on her to go for a little grocery shopping. Her mother was alone, so she was eager to return home on time to prepare lunch for her. “Mum! I'm home!” She announced her presence as she entered the house. The house was awfully quiet, and this caused Eva to worry. “Mum,” she called out as she walked towards her room. She found the kettle whistling in the kitchen, so she quickly went to turn it off. She looked very perplexed and troubled as she approached her mother's room. She pushed the door open slowly, and her eyes were greeted by a rather troubling and shirking sight. Her mother was lying on the ground, unconscious, and unaware of her environment. “Mum! Mum!! Mum!!!” Eva hurriedly rushed to where her mother was lying on the ground and tried to check if she had life in her. Her mother wasn't responding to impulses, and there were droplets of blood on the ground. She didn't find any injuries on her mother's body. This insinuated that this was not a result of an injury. Without waiting much time, Eva was trying to get a hold of her emotions and calm down. Grabbed a phone and called an ambulance. In less than 2 minutes, the ambulance arrived at her house and carried her straight to the hospital. Eva paced the waiting room as she waited to get a reply from the doctor or nurses who had carried her mother into the emergency ward. Eva was not ready to lose her mother now. Her mother was the only person she had growing up. She was single-handedly raised and nurtured by her mother. She watched her mother go through hell just to make sure that she survived. The only memory Eva has of her father is seeing her father leaving the house for work when she was still 4 years old. Unluckily, her father didn't return. The only thing that came back was the news of his demise. “Please, just sit down, Ma. The doctor will be with you shortly.” The nurse standing at the reception tried to calm Eva. “I can't. It is totally impossible. I can't be calm when my mother is inside there struggling for her life.” Eva found it hard to accept the advice of the nurse. Eva didn't have a hold on her emotions again. She just broke down in tears because she felt so overwhelmed by what was happening around her. While she was still trying to hold back the tears, the doctor walked out briskly into the reception. “Doc! My mother, how is she?” she asked curiously. Her face was filled with so much worry and anxiety. “Miss Eva, right? “The daughter of Mrs Theresa?” he inquired. “Yes, sir,” she affirmed with a nod. “Follow me,” he said as he ushered her to his office. He gestured to her to take a seat, which she obliged without wasting time. Eva's breathing and heart rate had gone up, and she could not stop sweating profusely, as anxiety just had the best of her. “How is my mother? “Talk to me, doctor,” she pleaded. The doctor was just trying to brace himself while he sat properly on his chair. “Relax, ma'am. Your mother is fine. She is not dead. I need you to calm down,” he said. A sensation that felt like a feeling of great ease just overwhelmed Eva. She heaved a deep sigh of relief as she cleaned off the sweat on her face with a scarf she was holding. “Can I go and see her now?” She attempted to stand up from the chair quickly. “Wait! I haven't finished talking with you, ma.” The doctor called her attention back immediately. The doctor looked like he had something really serious to tell Eva, and she could tell from the look on his face. “Your mother, I found something. Here is the test result.” He handed the result report to her.
