Diane , A divorcee going through a difficult divorce. Honest, quiet, and strapped for cash, hidden behind her serious, work-centered exterior is a heart of gold and a genuine desire to do good.
Diane finds a dying wild animal. She's relieved to have an excuse to ditch a potentially uncomfortable meeting with her soon-to-be ex-husband and his overbearing mother. She plans to drive the animal to the vet, doubtful that she would even make it in time. The wolf transforms into a bloody, battered-looking man in her backseat. She runs away out of fear, but bravely goes back, sticks in hand, to rescue her car from the stranger as she can't afford to lose it. The wolf-man is amiable and flirtatious, handsome too. He convinces her to give him a ride, not to a hospital or the police, but somewhere he could go to rest and heal himself.
Though surprised, Diane drives him anyway and gives him clothes to wear and something to eat. They engage in conversation and Diane finds out that his name is Lowell and he comes from a messed up family.
Lowell has been poisoned with Wolfsbane by his murderous brother and left for dead, the poison works quickly, and by nightfall, Lowell is nearly dead.
Diane gets him to the nearest motel where she gets a key from the rude teenager at the desk and cleans up his injuries. The emotional connection both of them share cause them to eventually act on their physical attraction.
