Chapter 27 Zara sat at her desk, carefully reapplying her makeup, which had smudged during her commute to the hotel. She was lost in thought, replaying her dinner conversation with Joel's father, George, when Nate approached her. "Hey, where have you been? You've been MIA lately," Nate asked, leaning against the desk. Zara smiled, blending her eyeshadow. "Obviously, I've been busy being Joel's personal hotel attendant." Nate chuckled. "You're jealous." Zara playfully rolled her eyes. "Maybe a little." They both laughed, but their merriment was short-lived. Lindsay appeared, her expression serious. "Zara, can I talk to you for a minute? Privately?" Zara's curiosity was piqued. She followed Lindsay to the hotel rooftop, the cool evening breeze a stark contrast to the tension building
