As Kate spun around, she saw the man's eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity. His grip on her shoulder tightened, and she felt a chill run down her spine.
"You can't escape the shadows that bind," he hissed, his breath cold against her ear.
Kate's heart raced as she tried to shake off his grasp, but it was like trying to break free from a vice. Panic set in as she realized she was trapped.
Just as all hope seemed lost, a loud crash echoed through the bar, followed by the sound of shattering glass. The man's grip loosened, and Kate took advantage of the distraction to break free.
She sprinted out of the bar, her heart pounding in her chest. She didn't dare look back, fearing what she might see. She kept running until she reached her car, locked herself in, and sped away into the night.
Breathless and shaken, Kate finally stopped at a safe distance from the bar. She took a deep breath and tried to process what had just happened. The shadows that bind, she realized, were more than just a metaphor – they were a real and present danger.
And she was far from safe.
As she looked in the rearview mirror, she saw a figure watching her from the shadows. The eyes gleamed with an otherworldly intensity, and Kate knew she was in grave danger.
The shadows that bind would not let her go without a fight.
