Twisted Paths: A New Alpha

“Damnit Vivian, are you out of your mind?!” The shrill voice of the pack’s Luna, Vivian’s own mother filled the air of the training hall. Today was finally the day that Vivian would beat her own father and take over as Alpha, a risky situation she knew but she had no choice. She was well trained, possibly the quickest in the pack, she could do this if it meant it kept her father from bowing down to that disgusting poor excuse of an Alpha in the Dead Moon Pack resting across the lake. “Mother, with all due respect, back off. You know just as well as I do that we can’t bow down to those tyrants, I won’t do it.” Vivian growled out, her gaze narrowing as her father stood before her, eyes narrowed with rage. She could do this, it would be what was best for everyone no matter how much it might hurt her relationship with her father. “Vivian, I'll only tell you this once and I hope you will be prepared for the consequences to follow.” Yes, she knew that this would result in mutilation, possibly even banishment but she was right about this, she knew she was. Her mind was made up, even now as her own wolf took over, descent of Hades, god of the underworld. Massive charcoal gray paws pressed into the wooden flooring of the training hall, raven black eyes staring at the wolf before her. Her father was a massive wolf with fur almost as black as night, there was no doubt that a fight with him would leave her with a few...long lasting reminders. The battle would be intense but the chaos to follow would be even worse, no matter the outcome of this battle. Teeth snapped, tearing tufts of fur off, ripping into flesh, spilling royal blood. Heated snarls and cries from her mother was all that Vivian could hear as her jaws tore into the soft flesh of her father’s neck to send him sliding across the wooden floor. Hades was a wonderful wolf to her, always assisting when it was needed most but right now, right now it was fighting to take over, to make an example of anyone who dared challenge them. Her ears remained pinned to her skull, a low snarl forming in the back of her throat as she stalked towards the male who struggled to lift his body. Her paw pressed onto his temple, holding him down as she glanced at the soft fur of his underbelly, how easy it would be to just gut him open like a fish. Perhaps that was what she was already aiming to do, her paw poised before she was roughly pushed off by the beta, an older man who had been beside her father for over twenty-five years. Staggering back, his voice bubbled into her mind with their link, eyes narrowed with rage for having been stopped. Vivian, please that is enough. It’s over, you won. Regain your senses and see that you are both severely injured. Vivian seemed to regain her senses, no longer influenced by the voice of her wolf, her eyes dropping to her father’s before she backed up, huffing out in understanding. It was enough, she had won, she was no longer fighting for the title, she had successfully dethroned her father from his standing. Very well. Take him to the doctor. God why was her voice so shaky right now, did it have to sound so weak? ..Yes Alpha. Those words, it sent a shiver running down her spine, causing her paw pads to tingle with excitement. With a short nod, Vivian shifted out of her wolf letting out a small gasp of pain as she collapsed to the floor unconscious. This would be the start of it all, the start of Vivian Ravensbane’s beginning and the promise of a more complicated future than anyone could have imagined. Perhaps becoming an Alpha will not be as easy as it is assumed.
