Unspoken Emotions – EPISODE ONE
“Congratulations! Your application has been considered. You have been shortlisted among five other individuals for an interview this Monday.
Best regards,
Human Resource Division,
A.B. Group of Companies.”
Gina’s eyes widened. She sat upright on her bed and read the email again, just to be sure it was real.
A.B. Group of Companies wasn’t just any firm. It was one of American multimillion companies, currently constructing an ultramodern office complex as their headquarters in London.where the success story of their business begun. When she saw their advert on TV, she applied, though a small voice in her head had whispered, “Don’t get your hopes up.”
But now, she had a chance.
Gina jumped out of bed, excitement rushing through her veins. She dashed into the bathroom, humming a tune she hadn’t sung in months. By the time she got dressed, her mind was already planning the journey, canada to London wasn’t a short trip, but it holds a lot of memories, some good, some terrible. She would set off on Sunday, rest, and be ready for the big day on Monday.
Since it was Friday, she had to finish her ongoing work so her clients wouldn’t be disappointed. The day went by in its usual blur, site visits, phone calls, dusty shoes, and tired smiles.
When she got home late in the evening, hunger hit her like a tsunami. She opened the fridge, brought out some leftover food, and set it aside to defreeze while she went it to shower.
Her phone started ringing midway through her bath. It rang once, stopped, and then started again.
Gina rolled her eyes. “Ella will never call just once,” she muttered.
Minutes later, her towel wrapped around her body, and she returned Ella’s call.
Ella: “Hello…”
Gina: “If you call someone and she doesn’t answer, you can’t wait a bit, huh?” She said in mock annoyance.
Ella : “If you want me to stop calling, then pick up the first time.” Ella’s laughter crackled through the phone.
Gina: “You should better have something important to say this evening.”
Gina: “Of course I do. Two things, actually. One is because I’ve not heard from you all day. And two is because…”
They both chimed in together: “I’ve been assigned to stress you until you die!”
The two friends burst into laughter.
Gina: “It was a busy day, I will be going to London on Sunday.”
Ella: “Yei yei, love bird, don’t tell me jeffrey is back in the picture.”
Gina’stone changed. “Which Jeffrey ? Please, I have an interview there on Monday, that is why I am going.”
Ella said playfully. “Such a coincidence. You have an interview in London , and Jeffrey , too, is going to London tomorrow.”
Gina: “Don’t bring that selfish man into our conversation again, please.” Her voice was sharp now, but there was a hint of painful memories deep in it.
Just then, Ella’s phone beeped. “Hold on,” she said, pulling the phone from her ear to check the caller ID. A sly smile crawled down her face.
Ella: “Guess who’s calling?”
Gina :“You know, I don’t guess.”
Ella: “Mr. Selfish" is calling. Hold on, hold on, hold on, let me merge the call…
There was silence, then a familiar voice, deep and calm, broke through.
