  EVE   I called out for Marta, who was nearby, and told her to please get rid of the roses.   Her eyebrows shot up as she stepped closer, giving the bouquet an appreciative glance. "You really want me to throw these away? They're beautiful."   I knew they were beautiful. That was the problem. They were too beautiful, too big, too much. And if there was anything I didn't need in my life right now, it was messages from him.   Still, Marta had a point. Discarding them outright would only make me look petty—or worse,   guilty. With a heavy sigh, I waved a hand. "Do whatever you want with them. I don't care. Keep them, give them away, put them in the guest room. They're yours now."
