Untold Feelings

My name is Maes and I'm 18 years old. I have my childhood friend named Ryss, short for Lyn Aryss. Ryss and I were neighbors before in our village. My mom and his family were good friends, that's also the reason how we met each other. I'm actually not comfortable with him back then. I always ignore him whenever he tries to talk me. And keep going away whenever he tries to approach me. I was 13 that time and my parents recently broke up. That's why I don't have the reason nor energy to be happy and playful like Ryss. When my parents decided to break up, I began to question myself. "Did I do something wrong?". "Am I not enough reason for them to stay together?". Those questions are in my head for the past 3 weeks. Until my birthday came and my Dad didn't show up. I was crying at the backyard of our house and then Ryss saw me. I was so embarrassed but I can't help it. It's too heavy for me to carry those emotions. He approached me and didn't say anything. I started crying like a baby and he's just sitting besides me patting my back. I felt like I'm safe and secure while he doing that.
