~Jazabell~
It was a hardcore training day for us werewolves. Dad had us training extensively to see where our skills were at. Truthfully, I thought it was a waste of time. I trained daily because how else would I keep myself fit if my wolf ever decided I was worthy of her presence?
But really Stark was a freaking Alpha. His Beta’s, Gamma’s and Delta’s were top notch. They brought their A game and, of course, I can’t forget his Assassins. Jace never missed a hit and nothing could get passed him. He is the leader of the trio of them and the ultimate weapon and warrior of the pack, just like his parents.
We all trained. It didn’t matter our rank or s*x and I was grateful that I could be with the best of them. Of course, Dad liked to rotate us because I knew how to fight with Anthony and all his movements, but more importantly, I sparred a lot with Jace and he is one to never hold anything back when it came to training. That’s why most of the pack hated to be partnered with him. He’d have you on your ass faster than you could blink and he’d make it painfully obvious you needed to get your sh,it together or keep getting your ass handed to you.
Sometimes I felt like I was never ready to square off with my brother, but then I remembered who I was.
“Come on Alpha, is that the best you got?” I taunted as my brother tried to rip into me, figuratively speaking.
I laugh, because he can’t get me, much to his dismay. Hunter his wolf is angry, but he’s my twin and he’d never hurt me no matter how much I loved to antagonize him.
The wolf growls as he circles around me. It’s cute that he thinks he can take me down this way. He’s learned well from his assassin.
But so have I.
Hunter leaps on his hind legs for a more direct attack, but I quickly dodge his sharp and vicious canines.
“Sorry bro, but you’re going down.” I slapped his snout as I leaped and did a backflip over his black as night body only to land perfectly on my feet, only a measly two feet away from the angry Alpha.
“Awe, is the big bad Alpha mad?” I taunted him in my most annoying baby voice.
Stark and I can communicate in either form, we all could, but he chose to keep himself and our link closed off.
Anthony and Jace don’t appreciate my approach, but it’s not often that I get to spar with my brother. Don’t get me wrong, he’s an excellent warrior, he wouldn’t be a great Alpha if he wasn’t, but theirs is nothing like a little sibling rivalry and we all knew it and enjoyed it.
Nobody has got under my brother's skin more than me and I will live for the day that he finds his mate and she gets under it even more than myself.
Stark is as good as they come in every sense of the word. He’s kind and generous, a true born leader and I couldn’t be prouder to be his twin sister.
But he had his flaws, he wasn’t perfect by any means and his major flaw was letting me get to him. I don’t know what it is about brothers and their little sisters, but it was easy to piss him off.
And that’s where he let me best him.
The big black werewolf growls viciously and, with practiced speed and precision, jumps in my direction, no doubt trying to pin me down for his point.
But he forgets. He forgets that I’m just a little faster than he, and he may be stronger, but I’ve been training with the best of them since we could walk.
“Come on brother, you’re losing your touch.” I haven’t even broken a sweat yet.
“You think that’s a good idea?” Jace says as he circles Anthony, inching his way closer to the Beta.
I shrugged. “Eh, probably not.” The black wolf and I never took our eyes off each other, but I was growing tired of this game. And it seemed so was my brother.
We pushed away from each other and ran at full speed. The black wolf was determined, but so was I. I ran towards him and let my momentum take me up as I jumped once more in the air and kicked the wolf on top of his neck. He would recover from the blow, but his ego not so much.
“Point,” I yelled as I had the Alpha werewolf pinned to the ground.
Anthony always hated this move because he could never anticipate when I was going to use it. They had their ways and I had mine. Jace was harder though. He wouldn’t be the leading assassin for nothing.
My brother shifted and groaned from underneath me. “I hate it when you do that.” He grumbled as I got up on my feet and held my hand out to him. He grips my forearm and stands.
“Good job sis,” he mutters, brushing off the dirt and grass from his training clothes.
I nodded at him. “Thanks,”
Jace called his point on Anthony and they too came to where Stark and I were standing. “Yeah, we hate it even more than you do,” Anthony says with an eye roll. I laughed because that was true. I used that move on them a lot. You would think that they could anticipate given how much I used it on them, but they never could.
Jace chuckles and I can’t help, but love the dimple on his right cheek as he smiles at me. He’s going to make his mate so happy when he finds her. I had no doubt about that.
“Yeah, well it’s not often that I get to spar with the Alpha, I had to make it count somehow.”
“Yeah well……” Stark rubs the back of his neck, but doesn’t get to finish because Anthony rudely interrupts him.
“Nu uh dude, that’s her signature move.” He says pointedly.
I laugh because they know me so well and I wouldn’t have it any other way. They all fiercely protected me and I loved them all the more for it, but when it came to training they were complete hard asses.
“It’s her way of fu,cking with us.” Jace added with a smirk.
His eyes twinkle knowingly and I swallow. Only Jace could illicit such an emotion from me, but I couldn’t spar with him in that way and we both knew it.
Our connection was unmatched. Yes, the s****l tension was palpable between us, but we both knew we couldn’t cross that line no matter how much we wanted to. We’ve already messed around enough to get attached.
I can’t take more from him. I knew sooner or later one of us would find our mate and whatever we had going on would end in the blink of an eye.
But I hoped our relationship wouldn’t change. Jace was such a vital part of my life. I loved him. It’s completely different than being in love, but I couldn’t let go of the bond we shared.
It’s something I can’t really begin to explain, but the only way I can describe it to- is a Gamma and his Luna. Their bond is unmatched. He will protect her with his life if it would come to that and I’d bet my life that’s how Jace saw us.
And I’d also gladly give up my life for his. So, you see, it was more than s****l tension. It’s about a bond that was forged through years of growing up and training together and being there for each other when we needed it the most.
That’s why I loved Jace. Because he was always there holding my hand and sharing his strength when I needed it most.
I couldn’t live without him and his support.
I just hoped and prayed that he knew I was here for him just as much as he was there for me and he could come to me for anything and, no matter what it was, I’d be there to help him through it.
Dad called training for the day and we were benched while the vampires took the field.
I could spar with Lai, but his speed superseded mine. They were fast and they were well trained by Professor George and her husband. Who’s in the Vampire King’s Guard, He’s tall and fit and his icey blue eyes are hypnotic. He has all the girls swooning, but he only has eyes for his mate and her beauty is something to envy.
She dodges and moves with practiced speed. It’s so fast my eyes could barely keep up with their movements. Her palms come in contact with her husband’s chest, but Professor Emory doesn’t budge.
He gives her a wicked smirk, making his eyes sparkle knowingly, but she continues her assault on her husband. He blocks and pins her to his chest then pulls her into him by the small of her back and kisses her fiercely on the lips.
Everyone hollers and claps as they kiss in front of the entire student body. They’re lucky they don’t have to catch their breath. I’d be dying by now with how fast they move.
“She’s good,” Vera says as she sits next to me on the bleachers.
I nod. “She is, but look who her mate is. He’s in the King’s Guard. No wonder her blows don’t cause damage to him.”
No matter how much she tries. She can’t hurt him even if she wanted to. For one he was stronger and the mate bond wouldn’t let them hurt one another. It was cute the way he dodged her though, but it was so intense and intimate at the same time. It made me want to look away.
“True, do you think their sparring extends to their nightly routine.” V say’s wiggling her eyebrows.
I roll my eyes. “That’s just no, V just no.” I can’t think of my Professors in that way. I mean I know they’re mates and all and what they do behind closed doors is not something I want to imagine.
Vera laughs at my expense. She’s experienced in that way, hell she sleeps in my brothers room. I know they don’t just study.
“What’s so funny?” Jace says joining us and sitting on my left side.
“Nothing,” I say rather quickly.
But Vera likes to remind me just how inexperienced I am. “Oh, we were just saying just how far their sparring extends in their nightly routine.” She says smiling at me.
I put my hands over my heated face and Jace just rubs my back chuckling. “It’s okay. Your mate will help you get comfortable with it.”
“I swear it’s not that, I just can’t think of my Professors like that.”
“Yeah well once you start doing it that’s all you’re going to be thinking about.” She adds. Jace gives her a look.
“What?” She says throwing her hands up. “It’s true. Jace tell her.”
I look at Jace, his eyes held sympathy for me. “It is, but let’s stop talking about it okay.” He says pointedly at Vera.
“Oh come on, your just saying stop because we both know you can’t get Jaz out of your head and you want more.”
Oh-kay that went from zero to sixty fast. “V, stop okay.”
“Jazzy, ugh Jace wants to f**k you.”
I feel Jace stiffen beside me. I do to, but we can’t. I sigh. “V it’s complicated. Jace and I both know that we can’t cross that line.”
She looks to me and Jace and back and forth. Jace nod’s. “Yeah, I won’t take something that’s not meant for me. Jaz, is special and she should wait for her mate. Sometimes I wish I had done the same.” and I can feel the hurt in his word’s.
Vera’s eyes began to water. She didn’t wait for her mate either. She was too caught up in Stark and I mean I get it. I do, but Mom always told us we should wait for our mate’s, but it wouldn’t be fair if our mate didn’t wait for us now would it? But it wouldn’t matter because the bond would make us forgive anything.
This was such a sore subject. Our bond teacher had a hard time with it as well. We are all s****l creatures and we want to experience it, but it’s hard waiting for a mate that you don’t know for sure you’ll meet.
Professor George and her Husband called us to the field. Lai was going over some defensive counter attacks with his friends.
“I want to see how you both spar together.” Professor Emory say’s. Looking at Jace and Lai.
Jace and Lai took the initiative and both took a defensive stance. Jace circled Lai like he was his prey. We all watched them intently when suddenly a lot of us stiffened.
Heart beats accelerated and my breath hitched.
