001: Unwanted
❣️Jacklyn❣️ Everyone came to Blackmoor Academy to find power. Some through magic. Others through a mate bond. I came for both..and ended up with neither. The Academy's courtyard buzzed with raw supernatural energy as the Bonding ceremony began. We stood beneath the full moon, the Alphas stood tall in their blacks, like gods among mortals.. powerful, untouchable. And I… was a witch in their midst. Lunas, Betta, Gamma, they all stood in the same gathering waiting for their mate to claim them. I arrived late as I was afraid the same thing would repeat itself. Third time’s the charm. Or maybe the curse. Before I stepped onto the stone platform they were already whispering. I have porcelain-like skin with a subtle glow, high cheekbones that accentuate my delicate features, and full lips that curve into a gentle smile. My eyes are almond-shaped and fringed with thick lashes, sparkling with warmth and intelligence. My hair cascades down my back in luscious waves, framing my heart-shaped face. With a radiant presence, I exude confidence and poise, captivating all who lay eyes on her. I was considered a beauty. My name passed between fangs and lips like a curse. “Jacklyn Wynters.” The witch who couldn’t hold a bond. The girl no Alpha wanted. The moon was high, silver and sharp. A spotlight. A witness. I could feel them watching. Eyes full of pity. Eyes full of scorn. The third Alpha. Rowan Duskfang. He stood ahead of me, broad-shouldered and cold-eyed, his expression unreadable. His pack flanked him — silent, proud, their dominance coiled like a spring. Every step I took toward him echoed louder than the last. “There she is” “Wynters again?” “She’s got nerve, I’ll give her that.” “Two Alphas. That’s gotta be some kind of record.” I tried to block them out, but the echo of my own thoughts was louder. Alpha Emrys Randolph, rejected me in first year. He has chiseled features, a strong jawline, and piercing eyes that seem to see right through you. His warm smile and confident demeanor make him a standout. Alpha Maddox Vale, last semester. He exudes elegance with his refined features, sharp cheekbones, and captivating gaze. His polished smile and effortless charm make him irresistible. And now, Rowan Duskfang ..the fiercest of them all. He is tall, athletic, and confident, with sharp features, a chiseled jawline, and an energetic smile that lights up every scene. His passion for basketball adds to his powerful presence. Blackmoor Academy is an Academy meant for every supernatural being. The witches could attend, the wizards could attend, same with vampires and werewolves. I have quite a taste in choosing my mates..but they don't see the beauty in me for a particular reason I don't know. Me being a witch had always been a curse that followed me. I didn't find it a big deal until I entered Blackmoor Academy. In Blackmoor Academy, you train to be a warrior while learning a skill in the same place. It was the first Academy running in the entire city and has not only the wealthiest but most powerful Alphas attending. Alpha Rowan stood with his arms crossed, storm-gray eyes flicking down to me as I approached. The moonlight shone on his silver-blond hair like it knew who he was: destined, dominant, desired. I was crazy nervous as I approached him with intention. It shouldn't be a big deal since we were destined to be together. But every destined plan for me had always flopped making me worry. Before I finally came to a halt in front of him, I stared back at my friend who had been the one encouraging me to always vie for their attention no matter the list of rejection. I lifted my chin. “Alpha Rowan,” I said, steady despite the tremble in my bones. “Do you accept the bond?” He looked at me like I was something stuck to the bottom of his boot. His eyes spoke a story of disdain towards me, though his eyes were coldly staring back at mine. There was a loud scoff that followed my question. It wasn't from him. But a minute later his voice came also. I prayed and hoped his answer would be positive. I wanted to prove the people wrong for once. Then, with a voice made of frost and iron, he said, “Witches shouldn’t chase wolves.” A collective gasp echoed across the courtyard. My heart stuttered. My lips quivered and my heart spontaneously turned cold. It was the same damn rejection I've always gotten. A few gasped. Most didn’t bother. More like they were used to me getting embarrassed publicly. The rejection hit me like a slap, but I didn’t flinch. I wouldn’t give them that. That was a decision I made long ago, to not flinch no matter the result I get. But it did feel different,it hit harder than every other rejection. His rejection sentence clearly told me I meant nothing and I'm not allowed to do something grand. My leg stood rooted to the ground and then. My magic didn’t listen. It flared, searing hot. A pulse of light burst from my eyes..silver and shiny. I saw Rowan recoil slightly, and felt the bond between us snap like brittle glass. Sparks lifted into the night air. I turned. And as I walked away, head high, someone behind me muttered: “She’s cursed. No Alpha will ever want her.” The words slid under my skin like a knife. My fists clenched. The tears threatened … but didn’t fall. Fine. If they wanted a villain, they’d get one. I whispered under my breath, a vow drawn from the marrow of my bones: “Then I’ll stop wanting them.” The air crackled as I walked into the dark. Let them whisper. They’d remember my name soon enough. I left the ground with no mind to make a return. I found myself staring at the pitch dark field. It was located at the south of the Academy. This has always been a hockey pitch. I was drawn to it. I felt myself loosening up as I stared at the empty pitch. I sat down in silence, everything coming back to me.
