chapter 1
Abhi has been following girl quite recently he has tons of photos of her her phone is hacked by him. The girl, Maya, sat in a crowded café, laughing at a text from her sister, completely unaware that Abhi was watching the conversation move across his own laptop screen in real-time. He zoomed in on a photo he’d just snapped of her through the window, his finger hovering over the "send" button on an anonymous account—he wanted her to know he was there, but he couldn't decide if he wanted her to feel protected or terrified. Suddenly, Maya’s laughter stopped; she froze, looked directly toward the window where Abhi was hidden, and slowly picked up her phone to type something new. I watched her through the long lens of my camera, the shutter clicking almost in sync with my heartbeat. On my secondary monitor, the mirror of her phone screen glowed. I saw her thumb hovering over the keyboard. My breath hitched. I’ve spent months curated every detail of her life, knowing her coffee order before she places it and her passwords before she dreams them up. But this was different. She wasn't scrolling through i********: or checking her email. She was staring right at the glass of the cafe window, right into the darkness where I sat. I leaned closer to the screen, watching the cursor blink in her notes app. My hands trembled slightly on the keyboard. Does she see me? Or is she finally starting to feel me? These days i feel like someone is following me like somebody is there... I felt a surge of adrenaline as I watched the words appear on her screen. “These days i feel like someone is following me...” My heart hammered against my ribs. I wanted to reach through the screen and touch her cheek. She was finally noticing the atmosphere I’d built around her—the heavy silence, the feeling of eyes on the back of her neck. It’s a special kind of intimacy, isn't it? To be the only thing occupying her mind, even if she doesn't have a face to put to the fear yet. I adjusted the dial on my lens, bringing her eyes into sharp focus. They were darting around the cafe, wide and beautiful. I pulled my phone out and sent a command to her device. Her front-facing camera flickered on for a split second, capturing the look of pure unease on her face. “You have no idea how close I am, Maya,” I whispered to the empty room. I decided to push her just a little further. I used the remote access to trigger a notification on her phone—not a text, just a calendar alert for an event she never scheduled: "Look Behind You." What's this ?someone behind me? looks behind.. did i schedule this. what's happening.. Abhi's POV: I watched her through the lens, my finger poised over the shutter. The moment the notification chimed, she jumped—a tiny, sharp flinch that made my pulse spike. She looked so small in that large booth, frantically tapping at her screen, her brow furrowed as she tried to make sense of the "Look Behind You" alert. I held my breath as she slowly, tentatively, turned her head. From my position in the darkened van across the street, I knew she wouldn't see me. All she saw was a businessman reading a newspaper and a young couple sharing a pastry. The mundane world continued around her, oblivious to the tether I had wrapped around her life. I tapped a few keys on my laptop, opening her microphone. I could hear her shallow, jagged breathing through my headphones. It was the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard. “Did I schedule this?” I saw her lips move as she whispered the question to herself. I couldn't help it. I had to respond. I didn't send a text—that was too traceable. Instead, I opened her music app and hit play on a song I knew she’d searched for weeks ago but never bought. The volume started at a whisper and slowly began to rise. Is my phone hang what's happening shakes phone gosh I will have to give it to repair.. I let out a low, jagged laugh as I watched her through the lens. She was shaking the phone, her face flushed with that perfect mix of confusion and frustration. "Give it to repair?" I whispered, leaning closer to the monitor. "Maya, they can't fix what I’ve built." The idea of a stranger touching her phone—my gateway to her soul—sent a jolt of possessiveness through me. I couldn't let her hand it over to some technician who would wipe my code and stare at her private photos. I decided to change tactics. I stopped the music instantly. The silence that followed was even heavier than the noise. I quickly typed a command, and her screen turned pitch black for three seconds before a single, authentic-looking system message appeared in the center of her display: [SYSTEM ERROR: Unauthorized Remote Access Detected. Internal Camera Compromised. Do not leave this location.] I watched her eyes go wide as she read the warning. I wanted to see if she’d run, or if she’d look for a hero. I was right outside, Maya. I could be both.
