Chapter 9

After I put Lillian to bed, I walked into Alexander's office. "We need to talk. Get Ryu." I said. He looked at me as if I was crazy, but I saw him link Ryu. A moment later Ryu walked in.

"What's up Alex?" He asked. Alexander shrugged and looked at me.

"Eyes are watching this house. I felt it outside when I was playing with Lillian." I flatly stated. I wasn't going to beat around the bush. I never have and I never will.

They both looked at me as if I was crazy. "I haven't senced anything around." Ryu said. Alexander nodded in agreement.

"I'm not making it up. I'm going on patrol tonight. Keep your links open for me." I turned on my heal and opened the office door to find Lillian standing there.

"Mommy is right. Bad is outside my window right now." She said. Ryu and Alexander took off to her room and looked all around her room and out her window. I walked in holding Lillian in my arms.

"There's nothing here. Not even a scent." Alexander said.

"Bad has no smell. Foggy, dark and two red dots for eyes." Lillian said.

I closed my eyes and opened my senses. I felt something moving in the shadows out in the forest. "She's right. I can feel it. It's in the forest now." When I opened my eyes again, Alexander and Ryu looked frightened.

"Mommy, vampire is taking over again." Lillian sounded distant even though I was holing her. Ryu came and took Lillian from me.

"Big brother. Please take care of my Lilly." I turned and took off out of the house.

I knew I was no longer my normal self. I was smaller, sounded younger, and faster. I ran through the forest, following the shadow. It wasn't fast enough and I caught it in minutes. I hissed at it. I felt it tremble in fear. "What are you doing here!?" I hissed.

"Please don't kill me!" I put more pressure on its throat, hissing as my fangs extended. "I'm only doing what I'm told to do! Please! I don't want to die yet! I beg you, Please!"

"Who sent you!?"

"My Master! He wants your baby! Many dark creatures want you, your brother and your baby! Please! Let me go! I-- I-- won't c-come back here I swear!"

"Deliver a message to your Master. Tell it that if it comes near me, I'll devour it for a midnight snack night after night." I stood and threw it away from me. "Go! Now!" I hissed.

I watched as it scurried away from me as fast as it could. I licked my dry lips. "Stupid wolf side threw up my food." I muttered. I turned around and bumped into Alex. "Alex!" I yelled, a smile growing on my face.

"Kanna, are you going to let the wolf side of you come back?" He asked.

I shook my head. "No. That old lady isn't strong enough for what's coming."

"Kanna, I need you to make me a promise if you aren't going to let that side of you come back."

"Okay Alex." I waited for him to come up with the words to say. I sighed and grabbed his arm. I bit into his skin just enough for a drop of blood to form. I licked it and closed my eyes. "I promise I won't eat you pack." I looked up at him. He nodded and turned away.

"Come on. I have some work to do." He said. I ran up and jumped on his back.

"Carry me!" I giggled. He sighed, but smiled soon enough.

"How old are you?" He asked as we walked back toward the house.

"Technically, eighteen. I like being smaller though. I'm cuter this was." I giggled. He turned his head to the side and raised his eyebrow.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because I like being little. Smaller than ten is too little, bigger than ten is too big. You get it?"

He shook his head. "Not really, but if you like it than so be it." I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"At least I know how to go pee and bathe myself." He turn bright red and looked straight ahead. I giggled. "You know Alex, Kanna and I are two separate beings. We look completely different."

"How so?" He asked.

"Well, for one, my name isn't Kanna, it's Pandora. Two, Kanna's eyes are green, clearly mine are red. Three, she has golden hair, mine is closer to white. Her hair is short mine is long. She only eats fruit where I eat anything that carries blood." I paused and jumped off his back. I took my true form. My white dress became tight in the hips and chest. "This is my true form. I look so much better than Kanna does."

Alex's eyes widened and his jaw dropped. I giggled and closed his mouth. "Be careful, Alex. You might end up swallowing a fly or something."

He cleared his throat and shook his head. "In my opinion, both you and Kanna are beautiful."

I laughed and pressed myself against him, sliding my hands over his shoulders. "Are you sure about that?" I whispered. He swallowed, as I leaned closer. Our lips touched and he moved his hands to hold my waist. I lightly bit his bottom lip, asking for permission. He didn't hesitate. I explored his mouth as he explored mine. A low growl sounded from his throat as I felt him growing against my stomach.

Ryu's POV

"Uncle." Lillian called me. I turned and looked at her. "Mommy and Daddy are taking long."

"I know they are. They might be fighting with the bad guy. That's what they do. They fight to protect the pack." I smiled at her. I saw her yawn. "Get some sleep. They will come back." I whispered. She nodded and I left her room, closing the door behind me.

"I hope they do." I thought. I wandered around the house. It was getting late and they still hadn't come back. I sighed and headed out to the front deck. Looking up at the night sky and listening to the forest, I smiled. There were night creature prowling around looking for a meal. However, there was one thing that I didn't think I would ever hear again. I could hear my sister.

"Damn these ears." I muttered and went back inside, closing all the windows and doors. I was not up for hearing that again.

Sighing, I headed up to Alex's office to finish up the paperwork that needed to be done. I don't think he's going to get it done tonight. Looking over the papers, I noticed a letter. It was opened and had been read a few times.

I opened it;

My dear Alexander,

I have to go away for a while. Please, accept Pandora as your mate alongside myself. I am not strong enough to fight the coming battle. Pandora knows about Lillian and has promised that she will not hurt her nor the pack.

When this is all over, you will have only Lillian and Ryu to worry about. Pandora, Lanna, and I will be gone. Scarlet is the Moon Goddess, she will always be around. Alexander, you must promise me that you will find a new mate. I have asked Scarlet to give you a mate after me. I saw to it myself that she is worthy of your love and affection.

I couldn't stop my own tears from flowing. This is why Alex was so cold to everyone when Kanna went to sleep. I sat there for a while just looking at the letter for a while, crying. My sister knew that she was going to leave us. She was making sure that Alex, Lillian and I were going to stay out of it and survive. She truly is kind hearted.

I didn't bother with the paperwork and just put the letter back where I found it and went to my room. When I closed the door and turned around, there was a letter on my nightstand. My heart stopped. I knew it was from Kanna. I picked it up, her scent was all over it.

I opened it;

Dear little brother Ryu,

I am writing this letter to you so you know that I will not be returning after this fight that is coming. I know you love Pandora like the little sister she is, please keep doing so, for I am not strong enough to fight this battle. You will get to meet Lanna soon enough. She is a very timid creature. Papa will let you know when she is out. He will protect her until she learns that she can trust you.

I love you my dearest little brother. Please take good care of Alexander and Lillian. You will be the only one like Lillian for a while. Your mate has yet to come into this world. I can tell you she is a wonderful girl. Be a good boy to the pack and Alexander after I am gone.

I was crying again. I couldn't take it. She was giving herself up to make sure this world is safe for everything that she loves. I fell to my knees hugging the letter she wrote. My sister has said goodbye to me. I was losing her. I felt my wolf come forward in my mind.

"What's wrong with you?" He asked.

"My sister. She said goodbye. She's going to die." I sniffled.

"You are a stupid human. You and I are her protectors! As long as we live, we must protect her. Only until she gives us up."

"What do you mean?"

"She has to say and I quote, 'I no longer need your protection. You are free from the bond we share.' If she doesn't say that, we are still obligated to protect her. Scarlet's father created us for that reason Ryu. Now get up and stop your crying. You are not a child anymore!" He yelled, then went back to the back of my mind.

I stood and wiped my tears away. He was right. I still feel the bond. Stronger than ever. I will do whatever I have to do to protect my sisters. My big sister Kanna, my little sister Pandora, and my twin Lanna. Yes, I knew about them from the moment I was old enough to make my first shift. Since then, I've been looking for her. Yes, I lied to Kanna when I met her, but I had to. She is to never know what I actually am to her. I may be a brother in flesh and blood, but my soul is a weapon for her to use.
