Chapter 6

Kanna's POV I woke to a cold breeze over my body. When I opened my eyes, I found a sleeping Alexander beside me. I don't remember anything about yesterday, but for some reason, I ached in my sweet spot and my neck. I looked away from the river to find a dragon looking at me. My heart began to race. "D--D--- Dragon!" I yelled. I jumped to my feet, slowly backing away. "Calm down, child. You are safe. I am a friend. Ryu brought me here to help you get rid of your fever. Sadly you had to loose your flower to be rid of it. Have you even been in heat before?" The dragon asked me. "In heat? No. I didn't even know I had wolf blood in me until a few days ago. Where am I anyways?" I said, looking around. Nothing looked familiar to me. Only a sleeping Alexander looked familiar. "You are on the mountain, child. Do not panic. Ryu is asleep in the treeline. Both of your males are here. I sent your Alpha and Luna home last night." I calmed my breathing. "What do you mean both of my males?" I asked. He laughed lightly. "Your mate, Alex and your protector, Ryu." I tilted my head. "Protector?" I asked. He nodded. "Wait, why do I need a protector?" "For your journey that lies ahead. Now, I know I'm not supposed to tell you anything, but I've come to love Ryu like my own son. He is meant to be a sacrifice for you. He is meant to give you all of his blood to make you stronger. You are meant to progress alone after his death. Your mate, is only meant to give you a child then he too is to be a sacrifice for you. Death awaits you, and it won't be much longer until that time comes." He said. "No! No! No no no no! I am NOT loosing my little brother nor my mate! I will figure something out! They are not leaving me!" I yelled. Tears were running down my cheeks. There was no way. I will find another way. The dragon looked like he was pained by me being upset. "Child, you must understand. This was meant to happen. This is what Scarlet has planned for you and herself. You will not be the only one baring the pain of two lost ones. Come, child. Take to the skies with me and I will tell you more." I shook my head and walked away from him. Tears were still flowing and I just needed my mate and my brother. I splashed water on their faces. They woke instantly. Alexander was angry, but them saw me in tears. It seemed Ryu knew what was happening and just hugged me. I heard Alexander growl at him, but Ryu just pulled him into our hug. "Sister, tell me what is wrong. Why are you crying so much?" Alexander nodded in agreement. I sniffled and looked up at them. "You both are supposed to sacrifice yourselves for me." A new wave of tears came spilling out. "I-- I don't w--want you to-- to --to die." I cried. "I don't plan on dying anytime soon, my love. I plan to be by your side until my old age takes me." Alexander kissed my temple. "Sister, I don't know what the Moon Goddess as planned, but I promise, I will never ever leave your side." Ryu hugged me tighter. I cried more at there words. I was heart broken, but I felt their love. Something I hadn't felt for a long time. Eventually, my crying made me fall asleep. Ryu's POV "Dreakon, what did you say to her?" I asked. I was upset, but I knew how to hold my emotions back when the time called for it. He sighed. "I didn't think the truth would hurt her so much. Not even Scarlet came out to protect her or try to stop me. Kanna needed to know that she must not build too strong of a bond with either of you. You both were born to simply die for her. She will devour your blood and become stronger. She must do so, or one, he body will never survive carrying that child and two, she will die at the claws of an upcoming darkness." "No. No I can't leave my mate. She is my fated one. I can't leave her like that." "I agree. I'm not her mate nor would I ever want to be, but I am her brother. Her protector. I'm not about to die and leave her alone like that. She's been alone far too long." Dreakon sighed again, smoke leaving his nose. "Listen children. You have no choice but to do so. Alex, you need to let her feed on your blood after the birth of your child and Ryu, my son, you must left her feed on you during this pregnancy. That is the only way she will be strong enough for anything." "No. I'll find another way Dreakon." I said. I picked Kanna up and walked away, Alex not too far behind me. "Heed my warning children. Feed her what she craves, or all shale face death at once." Dreakon said, then he took to the sky. I didn't understand what he was meaning, so I ignored him. I was not up for any games right now. I may be the little brother, but I was emotionally stronger than my sister and I needed to be there for her and her mate. "Alex, shift and take her. I'm going to fly ahead and tell Luna that we are on our way back with her. She's going to need a warm bath and some food." Alex shifted and I gently place Kanna on his back. "Be safe. I'll see you at the house" I said and took to the sky. Alexander's POV I ran home as fast as I could without dropped Kanna or getting spotted by rogues. I was in no condition to fight and protect her at the same time. The scent of her heat was very light, but it was still there. I needed to get her home quickly. I heard her groan a few times. She sounded like she was in pain. I whimpered and tried to run faster to get her home. "Hold on Kanna. I'll get you home." I thought. I jumped over a fallen tree and she groaned again. I could smell blood. It was her blood. Fear ripped through my mind and veins. I ran faster, pushing Vince passed his limit. He was going to hate me and yell at me later, but I dont care. Our mate was bleeding and I don't like it. Kanna cried out, but it wasn't in pain. It almost sounded like pleasure. "Stop Alex." She whispered. This wasn't Kanna. She never called me that. I stopped and she slid off my back. I shifted and looked her over. She had bit her lip and it was bleeding. I could see her vampire fangs against her slightly parted lips. "Kanna?" I called her lightly. Her eyes opened but they weren't her normal light green eyes I loved. They were blood red. Dreakon was right. She was going to feed on Ryu and I. "My throat hurts so much Alex." She whispered. I shifted again to my wolf form and quickly hunted down a rabbit. I brought it back to her and she bit into it. The screams coming from the rabbit caused birds to fly away. The rabbit fell from her hands as she fell back to sleep. "This isn't good." I thought to myself. "You think! She's going to eat us if we aren't careful!" Vince growled. "I don't want to die, but I don't want her vampire parts to starve her to death either." "We must keep feeding her blood. Animals will have to do until the pup is born." "I know Vince. I'll do my best. We are going to have to keep her away from everyone during this. She'll end up hurting them." I let my guard down for a moment and Kanna jumped on me, her fangs ready to bite me, but she stopped just as fast. "N-no." She growled, more to herself than anyone else. "T-take me home Alexander." She said. I began to run once again at full speed. Vince was helping me this time. He didn't want to be eaten. I smashed the front door open and ran right upstairs to her room and put her on the bed with the help of Ryu. "She smells like blood." Ryu said. I shifted and looked at her. "Her vampire parts tried to feed on me. I gave her a rabbit instead. If we are to survive, we must keep her cravings for blood under control with animal blood. We can inject our blood into them if she isn't satisfied with just the animal blood." I began pacing around the room when I saw my mom walk in. I stopped her from going to Kanna. "Luna, please stay away from my sister. It isn't safe for you. Her vampire parts are craving blood. I can tell she's fighting them. She doesn't like hurting anything." Ryu said. Mother began to cry, but she left the room and stayed away. "Alex, go get some rest and something to eat. I'll stay here with her." I nodded and headed to my room to get some shorts, then head to the kitchen. I was starving. I returned to Kanna's room to find Ryu struggling to keep Kanna from biting him. "Kanna! Kanna please don't! You're stronger than this! Just give me a few minutes to get you some blood! Please Kanna!" Ryu begged, but his words only fell on deaf ears. I rushed over and pulled her off him and pinned her down. "Hurry! I can't hold her for long!" I yelled. Ryu ran fast and came back faster than I expected. He had a whole deer on his shoulders. "Move! I only knocked it out!" He growled. I moved quickly and Kanna dove for the deer. In no time at all, the deer was dead from blood loss. She drank the animal dry and fell asleep with her fangs still inside its neck. I sighed. "Ryu, we are going to need a whole lot more than just one deer. I get some of the back to build a pen to hold more. You get the hunters ready to chase them in. Tell them not to kill any of them." He nodded and we left the room. We didn't dare touch Kanna in case she woke up and attacked. I locked the door from the outside. I sighed again. After the pen was built and a large amount of deer were gathered in, I headed back to Kanna's room. I stood with my head against the door listening. It was quiet except for the light breathing coming from her. "She's still asleep." I said as Ryu came closer. He nodded. "Go get some sleep. You need it for your shift to watch over her." I said. He shook his head. "No. I'll be fine. You look like you haven't slept in weeks." I sighed and headed to my room. I knew that there was no point in trying to put up a fight. He was right and I knew it. I was very tired and I needed sleep. In my room, I laid in my bed looking at the ceiling. "Vince, do you think she's going to be okay?" "I think so. Deer seems to be heavier than a rabbit. She's been asleep for a while." I sighed. "I hope that she's going to be okay." I slowly let my eye close and drift into sleep.
