Chapter 5: Answer One Question

2038 Words
*Piper’s POV* I let the hot water drip down my body as I stand in the shower. It didn’t seem to matter how long I was in here. I couldn’t wash the dirty feeling from my body. I should’ve stopped Jaxon before it went too far, but the thrill and excitement from the mate bond had taken over me. Clearly it was more dangerous than I had realized. “Piper.” Matteo’s voice came through the mind link. I could tell in his tone he was not happy with me. “What is it?” I responded in my mind. “You let him touch you.” Matteo tried to conceal his anger. “Why?” “I don’t know.” I answered. I still didn’t want him to know about the bond with Jaxon. It would only worry him more and I didn’t want that. “That really hurt to feel Piper. How could you be unfaithful?” His anger was coming through a little more this time. Of course he would blame me. He was the one who had let me be sent off to the Dark Moon pack in the first place. I couldn’t help the feelings that took over when Jaxon touched me. The only thing I could personally do is avoid any touching between Jaxon and I. It was the only way I could have any control. “It won’t happen again.” It was the only thing that could be said right now to avoid starting a fight between us. I had enough on my plate, I didn’t want to spend my time arguing with Matteo. “Better not.” He broke the connection after his words had entered my mind. I took a deep breath in and let it out. I finished cleaning myself up and shut off the water to the shower. I grabbed a towel that was hanging up and dried myself off. I wrapped it around me and looked around the bathroom. The bathroom was just as amazing as the bedroom. The walls and cabinets were white with a black countertop. The shower was massive and there was a jet tub nearby. The flooring was a black marble tile. And there  were white rugs placed where they were needed. I realized I had left my change of clothes in the room on the bed. “Damn it.” I cursed to myself. The last thing I needed was for Jaxon to come in here with me only in a towel. I grabbed my clothes and hurried back into the bathroom. I shut and locked the door behind me. I then slipped on my underwear and bra. I followed up by putting on a long sleeved black shirt and a light pair of jeans. I heard the bedroom door open and then shut. I had finished dressing at the perfect time. I took a brush to my wet dark brown hair and then opened the door to the bathroom. I walked into the bedroom where Jaxon was in the middle of changing his shirt. My eyes fell on his perfectly chiseled chest and abs. I could feel the desire within me trying to rise again. I quickly looked away as I needed to fight back this urge again. I had let him get so far the last time, I couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t go all the way the next chance he got. “Piper, breakfast is ready.” Jaxon spoke as he finished putting on a dark blue shirt. “You should really come eat.” “I’m not hungry.” I refused to look in his direction. Even if our eyes met it would be too risky. “Listen, I get that you’re still frustrated about earlier.” He walked closer to me. He took my chin between his finger and thumb to force me to look into his hazel eyes. “I can feel that you’re upset and I apologize for how that played out. Please come eat some breakfast, you have to be hungry by now.” His touch and scent were helping me calm down. I quickly broke eye contact, I didn’t want him to calm me down. I walked away and turned my back to him. “No.” “Fine.” He sighed. I heard his footsteps as I kept my back turned to him. I heard him open the door and then close it. I turned around to make sure he had actually left. Part of me was disappointed that he had gone but the other part of me was relieved. I spent the next few hours in the room alone. Jaxon hadn’t come back since he tried to get me to come down for breakfast. He was an alpha and the Dark Moon pack had a lot of members so I’m sure he was busy doing his duties. Whatever kept him away from me the longer the better. A few more hours passed and I was finally beginning to relax when Jaxon came into the room. His eyes looked me over as I sat on the couch now. “It’s dinner time. Come eat.” He spoke. I looked away and remained silent. Giving him silence would help keep distance between us. I could feel his emotions slightly though. He was a little frustrated with the way I was acting. I didn’t care though I needed to put myself first here. For me and Matteo. “Fine.” I heard him open the door. I expected him to leave the room but instead he had opened it for a few people to enter. “Right over there.” “What are you doing?” I asked as I got off of the couch. “You won’t come to eat so I’m bringing it to you.” Jaxon spoke as a few of his set up a folding table and chairs. They then placed down the meal and hurried out of the room. “It’ll be easier if you stop fighting me Piper. Now sit.” I could tell in his tone and by the emotions I felt from him that I had better do it. I took a seat at one of the chairs and he walked over to sit across from me. On the plates we each had a chicken breast alongside some vegetables and a dinner roll. I could feel Jaxon’s eyes on me as he waited for me to take a bite. I did just so that he would look away. I noticed a satisfied smile cross his lips as I ate a piece of the chicken. “Good. Now I think we have some things to talk about.” I glared at him in response. He let out an annoyed sigh. “You can keep thinking I’m the bad guy here but there’s some things you should know. Things that involve the truth about the Moon Stone pack.” “I know my pack better than you ever will.” My tone was cold. “I don’t need you to tell me what you think you know.” He finished his bite of food. “Is that so? So you know your pack is bigger than what Matteo and Alpha Bradley claim it is right?” His words caught me by surprise but I played it off. “No it’s not.” A smug grin appeared for a moment. This was the answer he had expected from me. “But it is blue eyes. As their future luna I’m surprised they didn’t let you in on all the dirty little details. If you don’t even know about the other pack members that tells me you don’t know about the other stuff. No wonder why you’re so attached to that scum, you don’t know the truth.” “I don’t know what you’re trying to do, but it’s not going to work.” I took a sip of water from one of the glasses on the table and set it down. “Matteo wouldn’t keep anything from me. He knows how much it means to me to be involved with our pack.” “I’m just telling you the truth.” He responded before taking another bite of food. “If you’re so into telling the truth, then let’s talk about you.” I suggested. “What do you want to know?” He asked. “I’m an open book, I’ve got nothing to hide. Especially from MY mate.” I could feel some excitement go through me as he referred to me as his. I fought it back again. I wasn’t going to let myself slip up. Keeping my self control was my priority. “Were you really a rogue?” I asked. I needed to make sure everything I had heard about Jaxon was accurate. “Yes.” His hazel eyes looked into mine. I could sense he was telling the truth. “But not for the reasons you think I am.” “So you didn’t murder your family or put an entire pack at risk?” I questioned further. He let out a low chuckle. “No. I was exiled because the alpha of the pack I belonged to viewed me as a threat. He could see my strength and didn’t like the thought of losing. So he made up some story and forced me out.” I could sense again he seemed to be telling the truth. “What pack did you belong to?” I wanted to know so I could maybe have Matteo get more details. Maybe he could help pinpoint some sort of weakness and I could get home sooner rather than later. “You’ll find out in time. I can’t tell you all my secrets when we just barely met.” He responded. “Besides, the look on your face tells me that you’re just looking for information that you can use. I’m not going to give it to you so you can report it back to that deceiving poor excuse of a mate you chose.” “You’re just trying to break us apart.” I folded my arms across my chest. “You think by trying to tell me lies about my pack it’ll get me to come join you happily.” His eyes looked me over intensely. “I’ll drop this whole thing about your pack having secrets if you can answer one question for me Piper.” “Okay.” I agreed. “Where are you parents?” He asked. “What?” He caught me off guard with his question. The truth was, I didn’t know. I tried to think back but I couldn’t remember anything. Moon Stone had been my life but I didn’t remember any actual parents. I had been in a house with other children and a pack member watched us, but that’s all I remembered. I looked back at him. “I-I-” I began to stutter but he cut me off. “That’s what I thought.” He spoke. There was a knock on the door which caught his attention. “Come in.” He ordered. The door opened. “Alpha Jaxon, the pack members you requested are waiting in the office.” He stood up from the table. “I have to excuse myself. Just think about it, really think about it and we’ll talk more later.” He spoke and then proceeded to exit the room quickly.
