CHAPTER THREE

1241 Words
Trevor and Sebastian had been friends ever since five grade, their friendship was unbreakable. They got on each other’s nerves sometimes, but that makes every relationship powerful, right? One day, when they were just sprouts, they pranked Sebastian’s big sister. They had put chili powder in her foundation that girls apply on their faces. She was so furious that she flogged them. But either way, it was worth her flogging, as they used to say. And despite the incident, they never stopped getting themselves in such trouble. When one of them got detention, the other one will get in trouble deliberately just to support his dude. It was their number ten out of their twenty friend’s code. And they stood together through thick and thin. “All of you dilapidated to respond when your employer here,” he pointed at Trevor, “asked you if Emma worked hard or not, as if you were all deaf. Don’t worry señorita, you did wonderful. ” Sebastian spoke, glancing at Emma with a stunning smile. “Thanks, sir,” Emma replied as she met Sebastian’s eyes. “Alright if you say, so I mean you are my friend, I trust you. But not very much if the topic at hand involves women,” Trevor added in a flat tone, only enough for Sebastian to listen. “Can you tell me that when we are alone?” Sebastian demanded in a furious whisper. He ignored Sebastian’s comment and looked at Meaghan, “Meaghan, after you finish don’t forget to lock the doors and windows also to set the alarm,” Trevor said, eyes glistening with fear and mentally zipped through memories. “We don’t want history to repeat itself. ” He added as an afterthought. “Alright sir, I will do that,” she replied meaningfully. “And one thing before I leave this one here,” he touched Sebastian’s left shoulder and went on, “this good-looking bastard his my best buddy, not just my best buddy he is my brother. So, you all have to treat him with respect just like you do with me, do you understand?” Trevor asked his employees. And they all just nodded in confirmation. No sooner did Trevor and Sebastian leave then all the employees prolonged with their work. Before Trevor could get in his sky-blue SUV car which he just purchased a few days ago, he swung around to face an aged man, who was maybe in his fifty’s, and spoke respectfully. “Don’t sleep again on your work, Mr. Jamison. ” Mr. Jamison had thick black hair with a bit of gray in it. He was proportionally huge, some people even said he weighs more than an elephant. A small one, of course. And his neck was as thick as Trevor’s waist. Dressed in his security guard uniform completed with cowboy boots. “Yes sir, I won’t reiterate the same mistake again,” Mr. Jamison said with a beaming grin. “And what did we say about you calling me sir?” Trevor spoke with a reasonable tone. “That I should call you just Trevor,” Mr. Jamison said while gazing on the ground like what kids do when their parents are scolding them. “You are like a father to me, so don’t call me sir again, do you hear me, Mr. Jamison? ” “Yes sir, I mean Trevor. ” “Alright then see you tomorrow,” and he went in the car with Sebastian. Trevor hardly started the engine when Sebastian blurted, “that Emma girl, she is definitely eye-catching. And the gray ice chips of her irises. Astonishing, man. ” “Is that the reason you backed her up? You with your women,” he chuckled lightly at Sebastian. “If I remember correctly, you did the same s**t when we were at the University of Zambia. You went out with almost every girl at the University. ” “No, she worked hard, I saw her myself. Don’t you trust me? And I have stopped doing that man, I’m a reformed person now,” Sebastian croaked. “Stop saying nonsense you know I trust you more than anyone, you i***t, but just like I mentioned earlier when girls are in the topic my level of trust depreciates,” he growled. “And that nonsense about you changed, please. You can’t expect me to just believe you have changed, you have to show me. Though you have shown progress in the prior days, you are acting one’s age and following in my footsteps, not to brag,” he added sarcastically. “I have already matured. And me following in your footsteps means leaving a boring life. So, I’m good in my on footsteps. ” “Alright, Mr. Matured, we will see if what you are saying is true. ” Trevor pressed on the brakes just a few inches from a white Toyota car. Both Trevor and Sebastian looked ahead of them and saw cars lined up. Police cars flashing those blue and red lights. And smoke coming out of the black car. “What the hell went on here?” Sebastian said, looking at Trevor thoughtfully. “I’m also wondering the same thing,” Trevor spoke. After about twenty minutes, they finally got closer to the smoking car. Blood all over the car and under it. Indicators were still flashing from the smoking car. “Excuse me officer,” Trevor called one officer who was standing close to the smoking car, “what happened here?” He went on as the officer moved closer to him. “We are uncertain what went on here, sir, we have seen nothing like this. ” “What do you mean, you have seen nothing like this? It was just a car accident, wasn’t it?” Sebastian suggested. “Not really, look at this slime stuff,” the police officer handed a tin to Trevor. He opened the tin and saw some blue slime stuff in it. He handed it to Sebastian, and they shared a thoughtful look, both looking dumbstruck. “Not only that, but none of them had heads. And one door is not there either. There is also a seat for a baby, but we couldn’t find it, we have searched everywhere but found nothing. And one boy has scratches on his chest which looked like sharp objects made them,” the officer spoke. Cars started making noise behind them, people shouting “get your damn car out of the way man, we have important matters to attend to. ” “Thank you officer, hope you find who or what did this,” Trevor said and drove off. Just after a few minutes, Sebastian spoke, “do you thin……. ” “Yes, that is the only explanation,” Trevor said without allowing Sebastian to complete his sentence. “How did it get out?” Sebastian asked. “I don’t know. My father only informed me they closed the door to the under world. He was certain no one would ever open the door. ” “Maybe we are just jumping into conclusions. ” “You may be right, but if the door is open, then we are all doomed,” Trevor looked at Sebastian, both men wearing wary expressions. Their eyes were filled with fear of what that thing might do. Then after a minute or two they signed.
