No You Didn't!

Gwen waited several days for Brock to come to his senses for a meaningful conversation. After seven days miserable days of waiting, Brock decided to call her. Clearing her throat, Gwen tried not to sound too excited, even though she was a little glad deep inside. After all, she's invested five years into this man and marriage. It wasn't easy to walk away without giving it her all. Besides, since Gwen didn't have a family, she didn't believe in divorce; Brock was her family. "Hello, Brock," "Hi Gwenette, how are you doing?" "Fine, and you?" "I'm good. I need to know if this weekend would be okay for us to meet. Is that possible? Hopefully, you can because we need to sit down and talk about this marriage sham." "Yes, I know," I said, rolling my eyes at how reckless he had been here lately when he opened his mouth. "I'm not going to get into it over the phone. It is a conversation that is best had in person." "I agree." "Um-hmm, I guess we can meet around six thirty." "Okay, I'll see you soon. Brock, thank you, and thanks for calling me." She hung up the phone, thinking. 'Maybe he has changed his heart and is ready to fix our marriage.' ****** Gwen made sure she was looking as stunning as possible. Her hair is flowing with healthy curls. She wore a dress that highlighted her slender figure with its womanly curves. She arrived at Raven's Bar and Bistro first. Gwen glanced at her watch, waiting a few minutes longer. When he saw her, Brock's dark eyebrows gathered slightly in the center. At first, he looked shocked, but then his face relaxed pleasantly. The minute she smiles, at him guess who walked in behind him, taking hold of his hand, Amanda Towers. They walked toward her table, and she couldn't utter a word. So very shocked! "Gwenette, it's so good to see you." She was stunned; her lip quivered and trembled, she was speechless at Brock's disrespect. Gwen's body automatically reacted as she felt her hand make a fist." Brock says, "I came to get this conversation over with; I have dinner plans with Amanda this evening. So, let's make this quick and amiable. I can't be the only one with somebody else in this marriage. Are you seeing someone else behind my back? " "What?" Gwen asked Brock. "What is this? I thought we were going to talk. What is she doing here?" "You said you need to talk. There is nothing to discuss on my end, as my stand in this marriage is clear. So, please stop prolonging your confession. Are you seeing another man?" "What if I am! You're never here anymore! You've left me all alone, Brock!" "So you're admitting it?" Amanda chimes in. Before Gwen knew it, her red wine flew in Amanda's face as she yelped! She's fortunate that was all Gwen did to her. Gwen pointed a stiff finger across the table at her. "You stay out of our business and marriage! No one is talking to you, tramp!" "Don't talk to her that way, Baby are you okay?" Brock asked taking a napkin helping her wipe her face. Amanda rolled her eyes at Gwen. "Brock you better put her in her place! Before I do it! "You try it!" Gwen tells Amanda. "Brock, tell her to stay out of our marriage, Brock! That's what you do!" "There is no more marriage between you and me. I gave you all I could give you over the years, and now you are living better than you've ever lived in your entire life! Gwenette, I took you out of the slums, and you are still unsatisfied and pathetic!" "Pathetic?" "That's right! You can't even have a baby for me!" "Brock, I love you! It's all the stress you and your family have put me through! It was never about material things or that house. It means nothing if I can't share it with you! If I'm pathetic, it's your fault! I gave up a lot and went through so much to be with you, and now we barely see each other anymore." "What do you want me to do? I made major sacrifices to be married to you! I gave up my family's wealth to be with you, Gwen! I never had to work before! But since I married you, I had to get a job and pay bills! That's a lot! What more do you want from me?!" "I want our marriage back! Brock, I need you! I'm your wife! You shouldn't be running off acting like you are not married!" Everyone in the restaurant was looking at our table. Gwen lowered her head and voice out of shame. "Brock, baby, I'm ready to have dinner," Amanda says, batting those fake lashes at him. "Sign the Divorce papers, Gwen, so that I can go!" Gwen felt so humiliated that he was making her beg him in front of his new woman. What little pride she had left stopped her from saying another word about saving her marriage. "Give me the papers, Brock. You will be so sorry one day for treating me this way. I can promise you that!" Gwen said as a tear ran down her cheek. "No, I doubt that. I feel relieved, and now we can go our separate ways and live the lives we were each born to live. You can return to what you used to, and I can return to raising my child in wealth, class, and sophistication." "What is that supposed to mean?" "You know how you were raised. Do I have to spell it out for you, Gwen?" Amanda sat there, her blonde hair softly curled and her icy cold blue eyes grinning and smirking. Gwen Pushed the papers to his side of the table. "Here, you two deserve one another." Gwen shook her head and stated. "Brock, I hope for your sake she's pregnant. It may not be today or tomorrow, but you will regret it. You are going to get what's coming to you." Gwen said as she stood to leave the table. " Men always think the grass is greener on the other side. But you are going to see it's spoiled and rotten." Gwen said, staring at Amanda Towers. She turned to walk out of the restaurant as tears fell from her eyes. She had nowhere to go. Nothing worked. Talking was useless. 'I will soon be a divorcee.' I uttered to myself like a broken recorder. I said in so much pain, and the only hope I had left was to find my birth mother. It's so hard waiting. I haven't heard anything concrete as of yet. I wish I had my mother at times like this as I broke down and cried.' **** After signing the divorce papers, Gwen had no idea where she would go. She called Brock several times, trying to talk and reason with him. Four weeks wasn't enough time to move out and find a place. He was being cruel and unreasonable, and he stopped answering her calls. Gwen's heart felt like it wasn't ever going to stop aching. It was filled with so much love for her ex. She never thought she would stop thinking about him or missing Brock. Time passed, and nighttime was the worst. Gwen climbed into bed and cried herself to sleep. Then, early one morning, before it became daylight. It had to be around five in the morning. She was in bed, knocked out of sleep after being up most of the night. That's when her cell phone ringtone began playing her favorite song. The sound of the music pulled her out of deep sleep. She had received an unexpected phone call from upstate New York. In short, the call was from Peter. A kind man like Peter hated to inform Gwen that her mother had passed away six months ago. He reassured her it wasn't all bad news, but she couldn't help but cry. There was going to be a reading of her Will. Even though she never got to meet her mother, it still hurt terribly. Peter tells her how sorry he was to deliver such bad news. "Peter, you are a gem. Thank you for trying to assist me. I'll pay you soon, I promise." "Don't worry about that right now, Gwenette. My correspondence and P.I. on that end didn't reveal many details other than that your mother was a former actress, Ms. Pamela Marks. Her lawyer will set up a meeting for the "Will" reading. So, you must come as soon as possible to settle business surrounding the estate before the State of New York claims ownership of the land and property. I'll send you the information you need. But you need to act quickly, Gwenette. Do you understand?" "Okay, alright, Peter. I think I understand." "You have thirty days to get your affairs together and get to New York." Gwenette sat up in bed after hanging up the phone and blinking; she tried to focus her eyes and brain. It felt strange how this call came out of the blue. She had recently prayed for a change of scenery and assistance. Later that morning, she received news that her neighbor next door had passed away. Gwen was shocked to hear that news; it only made her even sadder because getting a divorce felt like she had lost a mate to death as well. Gwen had gotten news that her mother wouldn't ever be a part of her life. She was still very embarrassed that her neighbors had seen how her marriage had fallen to pieces. So, she didn't dare to go to the funeral, though she had been invited. Gwen ordered beautiful flowers and a handwritten, heartfelt card inside, giving her warmest and sincerest condolences, then delivered them next door to the surviving mate. It was all so bittersweet. She had lost so much to gain a new start. "Now, what am I inheriting? Land and property? What kind of property? She wondered. Sighing. "I guess it's a blessing no matter what it looks like since I'm being kicked out of my home." She laid back down, struggling to bring her emotions under control, now shifting her thoughts from all the pain to what exactly she inherited. She was scheduled to leave after being given such a short time to get her affairs in order before traveling to New York two days before. It dawned on her that she was leaving everything familiar to her behind. She is a Southern girl born and raised in Macon, Georgia. Gwen deals better with hot summer days than cold nights. And, of course, she has been a married woman for five years and hasn't lived independently in years. But she has never been away from her friends except for two vacations. Gwenette realized she would probably be away from Georgia for some time. So she packed everything she could bring with her and took the rest to Olivia's house to be stored until she got settled. She looked at her wedding ring still on her finger. That's when the doorbell rang. "Who is it?" "Amanda." "Who?" "It's Amanda, Brocks's fiance'" "What the....!"
