The Newbie😩
I woke up to the sound of breaking windows, I had been bruised and unconscious from all the chaos, Chicago had broken its promise of treating me right. I picked myself up from the floor only to find him lying there wounded and with cuts all over his body. He was the center of all my passion but now he was helplessly torn apart from his ignorance and vulnerability.
It's a bright Monday morning as I woke up to a loud bang on my door. "Wake up you sleepy head you're going to be late for your first day of school!". Yep that's the sound of my dad he's always been like this for the past 13 years of my school life and who said he would stop now its just high school, for as long as it has the word 'school' in it, I'm in it for the bangs.
"I'm coming dad!", I yelled as I lazily dragged myself out of bed.
Wrapping myself in a towel I hurriedly went into the shower and took a nice and slow bath just to take up time.
After a long 30 minutes of bathing I finally got out only to find a fumed father waiting for me at the door leading to my room. " Look what the cats dragged in, you got some nerve huh Precious!", he said it in a way that made my name sound like a purr.
"Give me a few minutes, there's no need for you to yell at me".
He rolled his eyes and angrily walked away mimicking every word I said.
I dressed up quickly and hurried downstairs to have my breakfast. "Eat like a soldier woman who do you think you are, madam president?". My dad always had a way of bruising my feelings because ever since mom left us 12 years ago when I was only 7, he constantly reminds me that I have her face and that it disgusts him and each time that I asked what made her leave I would only get a yelling and a scolding.
I finished taking my breakfast and headed out to the car. it was a long quiet drive to school because for the first time in my life cycle I would be joining Marel High school which was a boys and girls' school and was famous for having strict teachers and everything was done on the bell. "Precious!", my dad called out to me as I was lost in my day illusions. "We here sweetheart and don't you dare take my name down with those grades, you'll regret it!". Threats, threat, threats, it never gets old.
"Yes dad I hear you", I said as I walked out of the car.
As I swiftly walked through the school corridors I realized that a lot of eyes were fixed on me, some had welcoming smiles while others were deadly and scary. I was new to this school, we recently moved into the neighborhood because my dad had issues with the previous tenant which is so not surprising since he's a short tempered man. I finished my walk of faith to the end of the hallway and just as I was about to make a left turn a boy called out to me, "hey newbie! that's the mens toilet", I turned to find the most handsome figure right in front of me, he had dark eyes and his hair was hanging seductively calling unto my heart.
Just then I was brought back from my thoughts by a wave of laughter from all over the corner and that's when it hit me.
"It's going to be a long journey through high school."
