Chapter 3

"Wolf or no. You're still my son." He replied, smiling at me. I let out a breath. I didn't realise I was holding in. "Go home, we'll meet you there soon." He added before strolling back over to Carson and our mum. Carson's wolf didn't look at me at all, which hurt. I made my way back to our house, avoiding all the stares and whispers from the pack. I opened the door and rushed inside. I slammed the door and leaned against it. I sighed and closed my eyes. I had an awful sinking feeling, I tried taking deep breaths, but nothing eased it. I tried the link between Carson again but couldn't get through. He was blocking me out, and I couldn't wrap my head around why. I couldn't feel anything from him. Being his twin, I'm entwined with his emotions and feelings... But there's nothing. I can't feel anything. I went into the kitchen and took a bottle of water out of the fridge. I opened it and gulped it down. I heard the door open. I sighed and made my way to the hallway. "I'm so proud of you, son. Your wolf is incredible, you'll make an amazing Alpha." My dad praised Carson. The bottle of water slipped from my hands. I sucked in a breath and gaped at them. Chapter 5 "Alpha?" I whispered. They were giving Carson the Alpha position. Surely I couldn't have heard, right? They want to take the position away from me because I haven't got my wolf yet, but it doesn't mean I won't get my wolf, right? I still could... Panic set in when I realised Carson still had his block up. Why was he still blocking me out? All eyes turned to me, and a look of worry passed through Carson's eyes before his expression turned cold. I shuddered at the intensity of Carson's gaze. "How do you expect to be Alpha when you have no wolf?" My dad raged. "Carson may not speak but his wolf is powerful and strong. What the f**k do you have to offer?" He cursed. My breath caught in my throat, and I paled. "But you said-" He interrupted me by shaking his head and cackling. "You are no son of mine." He spat. "You are nothing to this family anymore." He scoffed. "Tomorrow, you move to the packhouse to be a servant." He sneered. "Come on, you two. I'm sure he has a lot of packing to do." He nodded towards them. "Carson?" I whimpered. "Tell him, Carson." Dad rolled his eyes. I searched his eyes for any sign of discomfort, any sign that he still cared. "You're no longer my brother." He stated before walking to the kitchen with dad. I recoiled over in pain as his voice still lingered in my head. How could he do this? He didn't even want to be Beta, let alone the Alpha. Why isn't he sticking up for me? Throughout the years, it's always been Carson and me. I've done everything I can to keep him out of harms way from members of the pack and our parents. I was there when he woke up from nightmares, and I got him through the trauma of what had happened before. I would have given up my life for him. Now suddenly, I'm the enemy? I don't f*****g think so. If he thinks I'm just going to back down, he's also forgotten who I am. "What the f**k is wrong with you?" I raged at Carson, pulling him back. "What have they said to you?" I snapped. He growled at me and yanked his arm from my grip. He shook his head and glared at me. "Have you forgotten what they put you through? You received your wolf and suddenly they're your mum and dad?" I ranted. He stepped away and stood beside his dad. "What about when mum hit you? Did you forget about that?" I shot, "Or when dad used to throw sly digs at you for not speaking? Have you lost your damn mind?" I shouted. "What are you doing? Open your eyes and look at what they're doing!" I cried out. My heart was literally breaking in half. It felt like someone had shoved their hand into my chest and was squeezing my heart. The pain was intense, and I couldn't breathe properly. I had expected this from my parents but not from him. I thought he'd be the one that stayed by my side through anything. "If you walk away, I'm done," I warned, panting out of breath. He raised a brow at me and glanced between everyone. Then, he took one step back and crossed his arms over his chest. I gaped at him. I didn't recognise him at all. The person I knew was loving and kind, not this cold, heartless Carson. I took a deep breath, clearing my mind and forcing the tears away. "I, Caleb Brett Stone, de announce myself from the Stone Alpha bloodline, cutting all ties now and forever." I deadpanned. I sucked in a breath as the feeling of the bond breaking washed over me. They didn't look affected at all... Now I can leave without the link between my parents. I took a deep breath before looking at Luna Malia, then at Alpha Henry, "You're s**t parents." I snapped, "You claim you love us, but you only love us when it benefits you." I rolled my eyes. "I'm glad to be out of this family... I, only stayed for Carson." I shrugged. They were glowering at me. "You can give Carson the Alpha position. I don't care. You're a s**t Alpha and I will no longer be under you." I ranted. "I'll be leaving, and I won't be returning. Carson, you can still come with me." I added. I had no idea where the sudden burst of energy came from. Maybe being cut from their family had given me a new lease on life. I could finally breathe without being dragged down by their toxicities. That hit a nerve... A deep, menacing growl vibrated from his chest as he lunged at me. I noticed his claws were extended. I wasn't fast enough. He slashed me across my face. I gasped as the pain radiated through my body. I fell to the floor and cradled my head in my hands. I dragged in deep breaths before pulling myself up. I stared at Carson, hoping he had snapped out of whatever trance he was in, but there was no emotion on his face at all. Malia had Carson's hand in hers. He looked me dead in the eye and took a deep breath. "I, Carson Henry Stone, now and forever sever the twin bond with you, Caleb Brett Stone." He growled clearly. I fell to my knees, scratching at my chest. I sobbed as the pain pulsed through me. It was the worst feeling in the world. I can't believe he severed his bond with me... I can't believe he spoke! They were watching me closely, I saw Carson lean over and clutch his chest before Malia helped him up, and he recovered from his temporary pain whereas this is going to be with me forever. The painful reminder that my twin brother severed the bond. He destroyed me. I whimpered as my eyes became droopy, and my head was pounding. "Carson..." I whimpered before falling to the ground and succumbing to the darkness. Chapter 6 I rolled over and tried sitting up. I fell back down when my chest felt like it was caving in. I grunted and rolled back over onto my back. I rubbed my eyes and cursed out loud when I felt the wound on my face. I cringed and fluttered my eyes open as much as I could with only one good eye. My arms and legs were throbbing. I lifted my arm and held it close to my face. There were claw marks all over my arms, and I'm guessing the same on my legs. I was looking around, trying to figure out where I was. "Are you ok?" A voice asked. I pulled myself up, holding my chest. "Wh-Whose there?" I choked out. A light flickered on and off before staying on. I blinked until I could see better, "Caleb?" The voice asked again. I sighed and tried standing up. "You won't be able to stand just yet." The voice spoke again. "Who are you?" I asked. My mind was foggy. I recognised the voice but couldn't put a name to it. I heard the sound of a door opening and then shuffling. A silhouette figure appeared in front of me, "I'm glad I found you." They spoke again, sounding relieved. They kneeled in front of me, and I gasped, "Lily?" I choked. She had a red handprint across her face. "What happened?" I asked, gently skimming my fingers against her cheek. She stifled a sob and shook her head. "Come on, we don't have much time. I need to help you get out of here." She croaked quickly. She hooked her arm under mine and tried yanking me up. I wheezed and clutched my chest. "Oh Goddess, what happened?" I cried out. She winced and took a deep breath, "Carson has some new friends." She muttered. "Carson did this?" I blurted. She nodded sadly and pulled me up. I braced myself against her, causing her to nearly fall. "I'm sorry." I whimpered. She shook her head and helped me to the door. "You need to leave, cross the border and cut the ties with everyone." She whispered. "They are coming back later. You need to go." She added. "You come too," I murmured. She shook her head and sighed, "I can't, Carson is my mate. I need to stay." She sniffled. "I thought you'd be happy about that," I stated as we stepped through the open door into a garage. I knew where I was. The pack garage. "I thought so too. But it's like he's had a personality transplant." She sighed, "Oh, and he talks now too." She rolled her eyes. I nodded sadly and whimpered. "He said he isn't gonna accept me but I need to be his Luna and provide him with an heir." She muttered. I saw her eyes fill up with tears. "Reject him and come with me." I restated. She shook her head, "He's of Alpha blood, I can't reject him." She whimpered. I wrapped my arm around her and hugged her. "Stay safe, Lil," I whispered to her. She pulled away, wiping her eyes. "Go now, cut your ties and don't look back." She blurted. "Promise me you'll stay safe. You're my best friend Lil," I whined. She nodded, and a weak smile appeared on her face. "You're my best friend too, Cal." She responded. "I wish I could tell you where to go but I'm not sure. Just get away from here." She added before pushing me towards the garage doors. I nodded and watched as she disappeared into the packhouse. I took a deep breath and slowly limped my way towards the forest, making sure to keep in the shadows. I finally made it to the forest. I knew I didn't have long before the border patrols would be turning up. I limped as fast as I could, clutching onto my chest. I've now realised I must have some broken ribs. Carson is no longer my brother. I don't care what happens to any of my so-called family anymore. If they can do this just because I don't have my wolf, I don't want to be associated with any of them. I reached the border when I smelled a wolf. I froze and turned around slowly. I came face to face with Oliver. He smiled sadly at me. "Please, let me go," I whined. "I won't be coming back." I sighed. "Oh, Caleb. I'm sorry this happened to you." He responded, "Let me help you. You're in no fit state to travel, let me take you." He offered. I stared at him, trying to figure out if he was being genuine or not. "I promise, I will drop you in Devon." He added. "Why Devon?" I asked, raising my brow. "I know the stories about the Dark Wolves. I know they are apparently from Devon." I chuckled darkly.
