Mia
I hear soft giggles near me and I squint my eyes as the room is bright with morning sun. I move on the mattress and try to stretch but something is stopping me.
Why is my bed hard but soft at the same time?
I run my hand along my bed and I hear a groan. I keep on moving my hands everywhere, but the outline and the feel in my hand is not what I think it is.
"Mia, stop it.. It tickles.."
My hand stops abruptly, and slowly I raise my head to see the owner of the sexy voice. My eyes meet with the blue ocean orbs which are currently staring at me. I am the girl who comfortably sleeps on top of him, I can feel his heartbeat racing and I am sure he can feel mine, racing erratically.
Dayyum.
I gasp and quickly scramble off him, and I almost fall face first to the floor if Ryan had not grabbed my waist to steady me.
"You okay?"
Ryan asks me while looking up to find my face. I avoid his eyes and nod.
"Ye..yeah, I'm okay, thank you."
"What are you both giggling at?"
Ryan let's go of my waist and puts his hands on his knee as he looks at the twins that have not stopped giggling since earlier. Ayla points at Ryan and me simultaneously and says.
"Cute."
I facepalm myself as I cannot hide my growing smile. I bet even Ryan is smiling at the three-year-old's word. I quickly clap my hand twice as I look at the clock that strikes at 9 in the morning.
"Now, let's get both of you ready."
"Okay, Mommy.."
Ayla and Ayden run to their bedroom to wash up. I turn the other way and start walking away when a hand grabs my wrist, stopping me on the track.
"Where are you going?"
I raise my eyebrow at Ryan confusedly and say.
"Give them a bath and get them ready for the day, I'm already late to open the café. You're not going to work?"
Ryan chuckles and he looks at me in the eyes as he stands up. He's a bit taller than me, while I reach a bit above his shoulder. Ryan closes the gap between us as he leans closer to my face and whispers next to my ear.
"Mia, it's Saturday."
My breath hitches as I can feel his hot breath, reaching my skin, and making my ears go red with his action. He smiles when he sees how his action affects me.
"Mommy?"
Ayden's voice startles me out of my daze with this man in front of me. I can see Ryan smiling at me softly as he turns around to see the twins. I walk away and sit down to reach Ayden's level as I talk to him.
"Yes, baby.."
"Ayla's crying.."
"Why?"
I stand up and head to the twin's room when a hand holds my shoulder and stops me.
"I'll check up on her, why don't you get Ayden to bath first?"
"Are you sure?"
"100%, trust me."
Again, my heart thumps hard and loud. It's been a long time since people asked me to trust them and for me to put my trust in people.
"Okay then, if anything, you can just call me, and I'll..."
"Trust me, Mia. I'll handle this."
I nod and walk towards the bathroom with Ayden. I look back and see Ryan knock on the door before he gets in to talk to Ayla, he sits down as he comforts her.
-----
I walk out of the bathroom with Ayden and then I hear Ayla's voice as she talks excitedly to Ryan. I am impressed to see that she's not crying anymore, It's a first. Someone other than me able to get Ayla to stop crying. Ayla can be quite stubborn and she's also hot-headed. Not everyone can handle her when she's upset.
I walk inside the room with Ayden as I pull out his clothes and help him wear it. I raise my eyebrow at Ryan asking him what happened and he just shrugs.
"Will you tell mommy what made you upset Ayla?"
Ayla shakes her head as she snuggles into Ryan's embrace and avoids my eyes.
"Baby?"
Ayla looks at me and she pouts.
"I...I can't find the necklace.. that..that Mom left"
My eyes soften as I open my arms to embrace Ayla and she runs to me. I know the necklace is important to Ayla because it belonged to Willow. I gave her the necklace since it's the only thing Willow left behind, oh, and a ring for Ayden, to give to someone that he loves later in the future.
"It's here somewhere, don't worry Mommy will find it for you."
I can see Ryan's eyes looking at us, especially when Ayden joins in the hug and he also speaks about the necklace and its meaning.
"Ayden told Ayla a lot of times to keep it safe, like how Ayden did with the ring Mom gave.."
I rock them both in my arms as they both talk slowly. I somehow forgot that Ryan is still here in the room watching us. Ryan opens his mouth to say something when his cell phone rings and he goes out to receive the call.
I take the chance to get Ayla ready for the day. I fasten my pace as I get myself ready and try to fix some breakfast for all of us. I cook some scrambled eggs, toast, and also hot chocolate and milk.
Ryan takes a seat next to Ayla as Ayden sits next to me. We all eat breakfast without having many conversations, perhaps all of us are that hungry?
I look at Ryan as he keeps on looking at the twins and me simultaneously. As our eyes meet, I make a gesture questioningly at him, but he just smiles and shakes his head.
"Can't you have a day off?"
I stop eating as I look at Ryan, the same goes to the twins.
"How about we spend the day going out? We can take the kids sight-seeing?"
Ayla and Ayden squeal loudly happily, but Ryan is waiting for my answer. I think thoroughly, but as I look at the twins' happy faces, I smile softly and nod.
"Alright! Let's head to Rockefeller Park!"
"Yeah!"
Ryan yells enthusiastically and the twins follow along making me laugh at their antics.
I hope today is a really good day for us.
