Chapter 8

1016 Words
Ryan I am currently in Mia's house for dinner, thanks to these two midgets who are currently beaming at me. Let's flashback for a bit, shall we? 2 hours ago "Ryan! Where have you been?" Ayla's nagging at me, who's currently making a secret glance at her mommy who's preparing to close the café for the day. "I was in Morocco for a business meeting and somehow it got extended. I'm so sorry for not telling you beforehand princess." I see Mia looking at us and when our eyes meet she blushes. Ayden is helping her at the moment when he points to her. "Mommy, why is your face red?" "What? Nothing baby." Mia shakes her head and finishes packing up before she claps her hand twice. "All right, go and take your bags now." Both Ayla and Ayden run to their playroom at the back to get their bags. I walk up to her and she smiles. "So, you just got back here?" "Yeah, last night and I had to get back to work less than 8 hours after that." "You shouldn't have come then, you must've been really tired and you need rest" "Well, how can I when the reason I can't sleep is here?" Mia's eyes widen and her cheeks turn red again. She locked up the café after both of the twins emerged with their belongings. "So.." Both Mia and I say at the same time, it seems like we didn't want to separate yet. "Mommy, invite Ryan to dinner.." Ayla tugs at Mia's blouse and she looks at both of them as they both nod. "Have you had dinner?" "Well, I haven't, since I came here straight from work." "It's Pizza day!" I tilt my head to Mia and she sighs. "It's the day I make pizza for dinner... if you're up for pizza then.." "I'm in." "O..Kay, this way." I take a glance at my car and them as they walk away happily. I quickly follow them as they walk back home. Now Mia takes the pizza and places it on the table, it's big, especially when we are only 4 people at the moment. I look at them, but there's not a single face that shows it's a concern, instead they look hungry? Both of the twins look at Mia waiting for permission to start eating. When she nods, they both thank her and start eating. I am quite shocked to see how these two midgets eat, they eat a lot. "Why aren't you eating? You don't like it?" "What? No! I love it, who doesn't like pizza? I am just astonished to see them eating, that's a lot." Mia laughs and I look at her face that lights up whenever the topic about the twins are brought up. "Yeah, they really, really love eating, and pizza is their favorite." "And you?" "What about me?" "What is your favorite?" "Oh, I can literally eat anything my taste buds accept." I smile at her and she looks at me questioningly. I mean, how can I explain that I like seeing her face. It's cheesy I know. We continue to eat dinner after that, and also happily talk and laugh with the twins as we eat. Somehow, if anyone sees this, they will probably say that we're a happy family. ----- I look around the house, everything is so minimal, and the space is also limited. Anyone who goes through the front door can see the whole house, and they can figure out how many people live in this house with their things. Everything is kept only to what they need. Mia is currently taking the twins to sleep, I stand slowly by the twins' bedroom door and see Mia is reading them a story from a book called The Jungle Book. She acts out and reads to the twins enthusiastically and I cannot hide my smile and small laugh seeing her like that, then I go for a stroll around the house. "Oh! You're still here?" I turn around and look at Mia, who's walking towards me. "You want me to go? Okay, I'll go.." "No, no, no. I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way, I mean I thought you had already left." I smile and plop myself to the grey sofa, that looks old but comfy. "How can I leave you without saying anything.. again." Mia dazed as to what I had said, and she smiles softly after that. "Would you like some hot chocolate? I don't have any coffee since I'm a tea kind of person." "Sure, only if you accompany me." I walk up to the blushing Mia and lean to the kitchen counter next to her as she makes a hot chocolate for me. "I really wanted to come to see you before I went to Morocco but I just couldn’t. I'm sorry Mia." Mia hands me a cup of hot chocolate and smiles softly. "No worries, we're friends, I understand." I heard a sound of pang inside my heart when she said those words. I feel like she friend-zoned me. Mia takes a seat on the couch and I take a seat next to her. I can feel the air full of awkward aura around us. "So.. anything happened while I was away?" "Yeah, I met my childhood friend, whom I haven't seen for a long time. I was so happy to see A.K and..." I can't seem to focus on what Mia is telling me because her face lights up when she talks about something that she treasures. I continue to look at Mia diligently and suddenly she covers her face with her hair. "Why are you looking at me like that?" "Why not?" "You make me shy." "You know those two weeks were a living hell for me because I couldn't see you guys and I had no way to contact you guys. Speaking of contact can I ask for your number?" Mia's eyes widen but later on, she nods as she takes my cell phone and key in her number. I take her cell phone and key in mine. "You can call me anytime Mia." Mia just smiles and nods as she turns and picks up her television remote. "Movie?" I chuckle as I see her eyes waver when she feels nervous. I nod and Mia tunes in to the Avengers movie. I continue to look at her as she focuses on the movie that I didn't even realize I fell asleep soon after.
