Chapter 2 - Level up

Ray was about to charge in blindly when Zorak gave him a piece of advice and he didn't hesitate to use it, he went straight toward the river by the side and the rat chased after him. It was closing the distance and was about to reach when they finally arrived at the river, Ray turned back and immediately sent out a lightning ball. The attack was a success and it had successful taken six health point rather than the four that it would have but a large tail was now heading toward Ray's head, the attack was close and would definitely connect but as it was just a few inch away from his body, a large piece of rock crashed into the rat sending it flying deeper into the river. Ray turned his head to see Tank who now had several large stones by his side, this was another way to use his power, he could throw the stone faster than he could run so it was perfect.

Ray did not delay in his thought, the rat was definitely low on HP and he wanted to give the last strike to the beast so he turned around and sent out two lightning ball at the beast. The rat saw the balls coming and tried to evade them, it excaped the first one but it speed was affected by the extra weight of the water in it's fur so the attack connected and It fell down dead.

Ray smiled and turned toward Tank who was now sitting in the floor while breathing heavily, he had exhausted himself while running about from the rat. Ray walked up to him and streched out his hand for a shake "am Ray, thanks for helping me out". Tank stared at the hand for a while before finally taking hold of it "the name's Tank"

The two boys rested for a while without uttering a word to the other, it was begining to get ackward when Tank finally broke the silence.

"Am guessing you are a level 1 right?" He asked without bothering to look at Ray, one could say he was sure about it and had only asked just to start a conversation. Ray knew this but just decided to go with the flow "yes I am, this is my first day here and with the way you fought I can guess you had only arrived here a few days ago" Ray said and Tank nooded confirming his words

"Three days, that's how long I've been here" Tank stood up and now had his eyes fixed on the forest "we need to get to the other side of the forest and soon" he said and immediately began to walk off without waiting for Ray's response.

Ray was shocked but he quickly followed behind him "why do we need to reach the other side, won't we be safer at this side?".

Tank almost stumbled after hearing those words exit Ray's mouth, he turned to him with a sorry expression on his face "seems like you couldn't get a divinity bond with your system, I'll explain things to you then so listen closely. The world Nova contain many species with beast being the majority, this is because all other species need to be reincarnated into Nova and they tend to die before they adapt to it while the beasts are created naturally like how beasts spawns up in games and the like, there are ten spawning points and this is one of them. Anytime the spawning points lit up, there would be new arrivals in Nova and a day after their arrival would be when new beasts would spawn up. Now the question is where do you think these beasts would spawn up from?" Tank explained as quickly as he could and soon began walking into the forest leaving Ray behind. Ray stood frozen as he digested this news, he had plan to stay here till he was stronger but apparently this was one of the most dangerous place in Nova and he almost made it his home. Ray was about to rush behind tank when a ding went off in his head and a screen appeared

Ray feet frozen once again as he read the text on the screen, he had just received a quest and the rewards were quite tempting. Tank stoped and turned back after noticing Ray wasn't following him, he immediately lost his cool as he saw Ray walking back to the spawning points "what are you doing, do you have a death wish or something?" He couldn't believe what he was seeing, he was wondering what exactly Ray was thinking.

Ray sat down at the middle of the valley and crossed his legs "I just received a quest and it involves me staying here for 24hours" Ray said as he also crossed his arms. Tank couldn't believe both his eyes and ears, it was complete suicide but his mind immediately wandered up to something else "did you just say quest, I thought you didn't have a linked divinity" he asked now having a confused look on his face.

Ray decided to tell him everything that had happen since he arrived in Nova only leaving out the fact that his divinity was Zorak and the fact that he was a Demon-God, Tank listened attentively and after hearing the details of the quest as well as the rewards, he finally understood why Ray had decided to stay.

Sitting down by Ray side, Tank smiled at him and nodded his head "I'll be staying too, the exp would help me level up too and I might also level up my skill" Ray was about to oppose him when he continued"am not doing this because I want to help you, am doing it for myself. There's no way one man can cross through the forest alone, at least not at this level." He took in a deep breath as he decided to explain how he first arrived here "I arrived in Nova with a few others, we were six in number and four of us had gotten a divinity so they told us a lot about Nova. With the information we got, we decided to venture into the forest hoping to reach the other side but we got unlucky as we ran into a level six wolf, we decided to take it out but that was a bad idea as we were soon surrounded by a total of eight wolf. The battle was though and many died, I escaped along with an elf girl but she was soon separated from me. Am only here now because I had flee from battle and can't go back in on my own? So am only here because I believe I stand a better chance here than in the forest alone".

Ray remain silent throughout and even after hearing his explanation he was yet to say anything, this was because there was something else in his head.

His health was still low which means he can't heal or regenerate on his own, this could make the already hard quest even harder. He turned to Tank and finally broke the silence "what do we do about our HP, I can't fight like this" he said.

"Just find something to eat and rest afterwards" Tank replied almost instantly, it was as if he had anticipated the question.

Ray walked down to the river where some fishes could be seen swimming about, he aimed at one and sent out a lightning ball with a minimum energy so as not to complete blow up the fish. The fish was electrocuted and he used his lightning once more to roast it before having a bite "it taste better than I thought" he said as he offered a piece to Tank. They both rushed up the meal and took turn to look out while the other rested and in no time it was morning again, it was time for their quest.

A bright light shined brightly in the sky above the valley signifying the start of the spawning process, Ray and Tank stood at a corner of the wide valley as they awaited the arrival of the beasts.

The first beast appeared and it completely ignored them and ran into the woods, a few other beast did the same and Tank was begining to think there might be no need to fight but just then did they ran out of luck. A beast spawn up in front of them and immediately went for the kill, it was a snake like creature with blue scales. Ray didn't hesitate and immediately shot out his lightning ball, the attack met it mark and the snake was killed but there was another problem. The lightning had drawn the attention of three white rabbit beast and they began to hop toward their location.

Ray quickly used his inspect skill and finally calmed his mind seeing that they were just level one, Tank on the other hand was panicking and sweating profusely

"they are just level one, we can handle them" Ray said and immediately dashed toward the closest rabbit giving it a hard blow before it could react. The rabbit stumbled and rolled backward upon receiving the attack and Ray followed after it, Tank was now feeling better after seeing this and he also dashed toward another rabbit killing it with one punch but the third had hopped into the air and was now coming down at him with force, it was about to strike him when a lightning ball colided with it midair ending it's life. Ray stood some distance away with a dead rabbit in his hand, he had a lightning ball in the other hand and was using it to roast up the rabbit after which he threw it into the forest. Some beast had spawn up and immediately caught the sweet smell causing them to dash into the woods after it, Tank stood there nodding his head in acknowledgment.

A wolf beast soon appeared by their side and immediately turned it's head toward them, Ray did the usual and activated his inspect skill

"It's a level 3" Ray hurriedly informed Tank about the level hoping he had something in mind and tank surprisingly dashed toward the wolf with one of his hand out for a punch, the wolf also dashed in at a much greater speed but it was of no use since it was coming toward him in a straight line. Tank hand suddenly became steel and he went for a punch toward the wolf head sending it flying, Ray followed up with a lightning ball finishing up the wolf before it could call for help.

Ray smiled as the series of message appeared in his head "I guess this wasn't such a bad idea."

Apart from the rewards from leveling up, Ray also noticed that his MP had automatically refilled itself this would make the quest a little bit easier then they had thought.

Ray turned to look at Tank and was surprised to see him charging into the valley, his target was a strange black cat with two tail.

Ray had used his inspect skill in Tank and apparently he had also leveled up boosting his moral, he was going up against a level 5 cat but Ray was sure he could handle it.

After all he had to worry about himself more since a beast was already heading toward him.

Seeing the description of the ant, Ray also charged toward it and struck it dead instantly with a lightning ball. His gaze fell on three other ants and he charged straight at them, he prepared a lightning ball in his arm and folded his other arm into a fist.
