1:wrath and worry
For a moment, everything seemed perfect. The manor was peaceful, the snow falling gently outside, and the only sound was the soft murmur of their voices and the occasional burst of laughter from Lilly and Rose.
Then, without warning, the peace was shattered. The windows exploded inward, the sound of shattering glass and the howling wind mingling in a cacophony of terror. Ian's instincts kicked in immediately. He transformed into his wolf form with a speed that was second nature, the change almost instantaneous.
Chaos erupted around him. Hybrids—monstrous, twisted beings that seemed to defy all logic—poured into the room, their eyes glowing with malevolence. Ian saw Darius, already in his vampire form, leaping into action with a ferocity that matched his own. The study was transformed into a battleground, with the once-cozy space now a scene of brutal violence.
Ian's focus was on protecting his mate, friends, and family. He fought with a primal intensity, his massive sandy brown wolf form tearing through the hybrids with a savagery that matched their own. He heard Rose scream and saw Lilly's face contorted with fear, and it fueled his rage. But even as he fought to drive the invaders back, he couldn't shake the gnawing fear that something was wrong.
The battle seemed to stretch on forever, and amid the chaos, Ian saw Lilly fall. She was struck down, her body collapsing to the floor, and his heart sank with an almost unbearable pain. Chester was at her side, but the hybrids were relentless, and the situation quickly became dire.
The last thing Ian saw before he was overwhelmed by the frenzied battle was Lilly being dragged away by the hybrids. The sight was enough to drive him to the edge of madness. He roared a sound of raw, anguished fury, as he fought with every ounce of strength he had left. But despite his best efforts, the hybrids overpowered them, and one by one, his mate and little sister had been taken. Darius growled looking demonic than a vampire.
"They took him, my mate!" he roared.
Ian and Darius ran towards the woods to find them. Darius was right on his heels as they raced through the woods after the hybrids knowing they couldn't have gotten that far. Ian tensed when he saw blood against a tree. Ian growled as he realized it was Lilly's. Ian shifted into His wolf taking off not caring about anything except getting Lilly back.
"Ian it could be a trap and We are playing right into it. " Darius said beside him as he dodged trees and brush as they ran.
"I will rip them apart. " Ian said with rage moving him as they went. Ian didn't care if it was a trap, it would be useless against them both. Ian was going to rip them limb from limb for hurting Lilly.
"It won't do Lilly any good if you're dead. " Darius said getting to his wolf. Ian stopped knowing he was right. Ian slowed down trying to catch any hint of them.
"We need a plan before just taking off after them. " Darius said looking more vampiric than usual. His fangs were extended longer making him look more bat than a vampire. his ears were pointed; his eyes were completely bright red with no pupils. Ian was waiting for him to sprout wings like a bat.
"Call your guard to search the woods we will be on the road if they try to escape. " Darius said before he was gone in seconds. Ian called all guards telling them to do a perimeter sweep of the forest. Ian ran quickly getting to the main road and began searching for any sign of the hybrid.
Darius was searching the tree line on the left side as Ian swept the right. He couldn't smell Lilly's blood anywhere. Ian went into the woods, looking hour after hour for her. They were gone. Ian growled smashing a tree in half.
"We followed the trail of blood but it disappeared halfway through." One of the guards said apologetic. Ian growled in frustration going where her blood trail ended. It had ended abruptly at a tiny clearing. There was no trace of the hybrid's scents as well.
"How can this be?" Darius said trying to look for any clue but found none. He screamed out in frustration smashing a tree with his fist. Ian shifted into his wolf going through the area over again seeing if we had missed anything. Ian came home empty-handed.
"What now sir?"
"Expand the search to the other side of the forest. Don't stop searching until one of you find something." Ian barked feeling his heart hurt knowing Lilly was gone without a trace with Chester and Rose. Ian sighed wishing he had already marked her. Then he could have found her through their bond. But he hadn't because she wasn't ready.
"Can you feel Chester?" Ian asked Darius.
"Yes, but he isn't answering me. He must still be knocked out." Darius said pacing back and forth. Ian let his head slightly fall as they made it back to the house once more. It was pitch black and Ian knew they would have to search when it turns light again.
"Did you find anything?" Mother said worried. Her face was red from crying. Lilly had been like her daughter.
"We found Lilly's blood but it ends in the middle of a tiny clearing. After that there is nothing. No scents or footsteps of them" Ian said sadly hugging his mother.
"moon goddess please keep them safe. they are all I have." Wanda pleaded holding Rocky, Lilly's stuffed dog, crying into it. Wanda, too, was consumed with fear. Her grandchildren were missing, and the anguish she felt was palpable.
Maria leaned into Ian's father crying. Her wolf had even recognized them as her adopted children. Ian let his head fall as he hugged her feeling like he had failed both his parents and his mate. Rose and Lilly were like her daughters to the hill guards.
All Ian wanted to do was go back in the woods but he knew it wouldn't do any good. Their scent was lost, with no trail to follow to find them. Ian clenched his fist trying to control his wolf, he howled angrily at him, wanting to keep searching until they had found something to follow. This was a planned attack. Hybrids usually stay away from the supernatural safe zone.
"We will find them Mrs. Hallguard. We won't give up. I promise we will find them" Darius said bowing. Ian could see the tears fall from his cheeks. He quickly wiped them away before calling someone on his phone.
"Get every spare soldier over to the Hillguards. The muses have been taken." He orders shutting his phone.
"Please stay with us for a few days until we find them. " Alexander said with worry etched on his face. Ian had never seen my father worried before. It made him age ten years. It was pained him to see my parents like this.
Ian went to his room trying to find anything that had Lilly's scent so Ian could follow it. Ian found Rocky on his bed, knowing it was Wanda. He brought it to his nose before going to the balcony to see if he could catch her scent in the wind. Ian couldn't smell her. Ian sunk to the ground holding Rocky to his chest letting the tears fall.
Lilly was gone but she wasn't going to be gone for long. Ian would find them and bring them home if it was the last thing he did Ian would bring them back. The hybrid was going to pay for taking his mate.
