TESSA'S POV.
It's the first day of a free week and I seem to be feeling better than the last, I laid on my bed staring at the glowing chandelier hovering feet above my head and I couldn't help but wonder what the day has in store for me, I was certain someone would lose their job today but I couldn't decide who.
I rolled over to the other end of the bed, close to my side stool where the lamp is kept. My phone is always in Do not Disturb mode; I wouldn't want to be bothered by unnecessary calls and irrelevant distortion of my mood. I got a good grip on my phone and took deep breaths, I checked my call logs and I had missed calls from my secretary, still wasn't what I was expecting.
"You missed the first meeting Sir, but I did reschedule it for a fairer time in the afternoon"
She had sent a message about a meeting I was never pre-informed about, with all audaciousness and no form of apologies, I certainly know who was going to get fired this time. Immediately I made my way to the bathroom and did my normal routine but this time with a bit of shimmer, I had an idea but it seemed to slip from my fingers.
After the shower, I got into my work outfit: a brown designer suit and a white colored turtleneck with brown shoes to match. I do know my onions at looking good and making the ladies lust and the men infuriated.
"Happy New week Tessa, this seems to be your day" the aged gardener greeted me as I stepped out to my front porch.
I smiled from ear to ear, maybe just maybe this is going to be my day.
"Indeed, Happy New week to you Reggie" I responded in an elated tone.
I've always known a day like this would come, where I would feel so alive and free, the wind in my hair and sparkles in my smile…though everyone said I had sparkles that light up a room when I step in, I've never really felt that shine but today was different, even the traffic that seemed to stall time never got the best of me.
"I'm glad you've finally listened," Williams, my best friend who was on the phone, said as he drank from his mug of chocolate.
"My womanizing days are over" I swayed my hand across the dashboard, explaining how completely that lifestyle was dead to me.
"You know I choked on some water when you told me you were in love" he scoffed…
"Well…I…" I couldn't defend my mediocrity.
"Tessa, Billionaire playboy…in love" he sarcastically said.
"It happens Will" I defended, still seeing the fun in all he said.
"I felt Linda was the one," I said.
Williams swung his head backward, letting out all the laughter his chest held in, and accidentally he spilled chocolate on his phone screen.
"Byee" I ended the call, leaving him attending to the mess he made.
Soon I arrived in front of the office, a few people were outside pulling down last week's old ads, I loved how it lit up the place.
"Let it stay" I ordered as I stepped down from my car.
The supervisor seemed not to have heard me clearly, he lent his ears again and this time more attentively.
"I didn't quite get that Sir, " he uttered.
I took a glance at his name tag, which has to be one of the funniest names anyone could bear, I found myself laughing…immediately drawing some sort of composure to myself.
"Penelope, let it stay" I mouthed and immediately he obeyed.
"LET IT STAY!" he ordered in a more discerning tone to his inferiors.
I left them to do their work as I stepped inside the building, I was first greeted by the refreshing air from the air conditioning unit. As usual, eyes were on me and most people who seemed to be slouching all morning sat erect and minded their computer screens, I could hear their heartbeat from where I stood, I could sense their nervousness and taste their uneasiness.
I took a deep breath and released it at the moment…
"Feels good to be back" I whispered to myself while making my way to the elevator.
"Good morning Sir, Happy New week" littered the lips of everyone who smelt my presence and I replied with a smile, with one of my hands in my pocket and the other for pushing buttons and waving.
I got to the elevator and hit the button for the last floor, I got in and gravity did its work. Technology is my biggest concern as it's constantly evolving and changing, making life easier and our work difficult. Soon this Artificial Intelligence might take over all our jobs, but it was never of my concern…I'm Tessa Martinez, CEO of TessaTech, one of the top Architectural firms in the world. I am constantly evolving.
I got to the last floor and was welcomed by my secretary,
"Good morning Sir…you look amazing as always," she smiled.
Her smile reminded me of the times she would go on her knees and take in my whole length, her beautiful lips weren't only for talking, they did a good job choking on my manhood.
"Your suitcase Sir?" She asked.
I had forgotten my suitcase case in the car, I guess I got carried away by Penelope's name tag. Just as I was about to admit I had left it in the car.
"Shouldn't I have a Personal Assistant for that?" I raised a brow and she shivered.
"I've very sorry Sir, she's yet to resume"
"Who's fault is it?" I queried
"it's all my fault" she begged
"Don't just stand there, hire another one!" I thundered, she got frightened but still maintained her smile not wanting her other colleagues to make fun of her, after all, she used to be the boss's mistress.
"Yes Sir, excuse me Sir" she left.
Tessa, not so perfect Tessa…I was built like an angel but my anger issues out of many were my biggest flaw. All of the women I've been with, laid with, they seem to fear one thing, my tone when I am vexed. I wished I could be less of the angry man I am and more gentle, but if I am gentle these women would take advantage of my nature.
I walked into my office, another business year and I still don't have things planned out, but yet I was happy. I headed to the window and stared in awe at the view. I have missed this view, my firm was the highest skyscraper on the block and I got the best view.
'I'll get myself a pair of binoculars so I could spy on a few.' I thought to myself.
I got to my chair and sank in, gracefully sat in it, and rested my back on the cozy leather furniture…the euphoria is unmatched. I closed my eyes to savor the moment and the beautiful image of Linda flashed from time to time, I never knew I could be so weak, she broke my walls. I was stupid to have trusted a snake, a snow princess as she would call herself.
On the bright side, I have plans for her, I hope she could shoulder the outcome of playing with me, and I won't let things slide easily.
The knock on my door brought me back from my journey of thoughts, it was my secretary.
"Come in," I said.
"I have your briefcase, Sir," she said.
"It's about time," I replied, pointing at the large sofa for her to place it on.
"We received an email from the Half Hour Times journalism company." She enlightened me.
"What do they want?"
"Apparently, they are requesting an exclusive interview with you-"
"-if you don't buy the idea, I could decline," she said hastily.
I looked at her, it dawned on me that I'm just noticing how stunning she looked in her red dress and how effortlessly beautiful her curly black hair made her look.
"Alexia, you look amazing today." I complimented in all sincerity.
I could see her cheeks redden and her eyes hiding from my gaze.
"Thank you, Sir" she smiled sheepishly.
"Do not decline the offer, accept their proposal and let's see what they have for us," I said.
