CELIA
Fear crawled over my skin as the guard grew suspicious. I was trapped, and there was no way out.
“Why aren't you revealing your claws?” The guard clenched his words beneath his sharp teeth.
I gulped.
“Actually, my claws…”
A scream from behind interrupted my words and attracted everyone's attention in the event hall.
My head turned in the direction of that voice like everyone else.
A girl tightly gripped a dagger, threatening the blonde guard before her.
“DON'T COME CLOSER!” Her trembling voice groaned.
“What's going on?” Gamma questioned the blonde guard and slowly approached him and that girl.
His empty eyes glared at her.
“She's wolfless, Gamma.” The guard announced.
Whispers replenished the event hall, and everyone was shocked, including me.
“LET ME GO!” The girl demanded, shifting her threat to Gamma.
Gamma wasn't afraid. Instead, snatching the dagger from her quivering hands only took him a few seconds.
All the guards rushed to her.
The coast was clear, and no one was paying attention to me. My feet sneakily moved to the safe side and blended in the crowd.
I was sad that a wolfless girl was caught…but I could have been in her shoes if it weren't for her.
“What should we do with her?” One of the guards inquired.
The girl was shaking in immense fear. She already knew it was her end.
“A wolfless has only one destination, and that's death.” Gamma declared his decision to the guards.
“Kill her!” He commanded.
Two guards clutched either of her arms, and one stood before her.
“Let me go, please!”
“Spare my life!”
“I just wanted a job to feed my family.”
“Please!”
The ears ignored her plea, and the guard in front of her thrust his claws into her chest and tugged off her heart.
Her painful scream echoed through the event hall, and her lifeless body fell on the polished floor, whereas the guard clenched her bloody heart in his claws, feeling victorious.
My eyes were horrified as they witnessed open murder for the first time. Everyone else was calm. I was the only one panicking.
“She should have stayed at home.” Dania whispered sarcastically.
The two guards who were clutching her arms earlier dragged her body outside the training castle.
Gamma turned to us.
“The training will start early in the morning. If you're late, you're out.” He entered the golden gates, and the guards followed behind.
A breath slipped free of my lips.
I was almost caught.
Hayes could be locked somewhere on the other side of the golden gates.
I wonder if the Alpha is also involved.
The long road ahead of me to enter the Golden Gates was embellished with obstacles and danger.
I was anxious but desperate.

The next day, our training started as discussed, and the trainers briefed us on every integral part.
It lasted two weeks, and the day of the final test arrived.
I searched every part of the training castle, but found no trace of Hayes. He was indeed inside the golden gates.
Each of us was given difficult situations and had to reveal our ways to tackle that situation. The trainers judged our approach to the problem, solving skills, and presence of mind.
Gamma was the primary judge, and it was hard to impress him.
I stood before the four trainers perched across the glass table in their cozy red chairs. Gamma’s seat was in the middle, and his deadly gaze was focused on my face.
“Rose Lancaster,” One of the trainers uttered my name.
“What will you do if you find out our Alpha is wolfless and no one is present to help you with your decision?”
They asked this question to every applicant. I figured the question was the key to entering the golden gates.
Half of the applicants were horrified after hearing the question, and the other half said Alpha is the supreme being in the pack and should be spared. No one dared to open their mouths against Alpha, fearing for their lives.
“If I find out Alpha is wolfless and hiding it from everyone else…I will kill him.”
“Wolfless has only one destination, and that's death.”
My lips repeated Gamma's words from the meeting night. He said the same thing to that wolfless girl.
Everyone was shocked after hearing my bold answer. It was unexpected even for the four trainers.
Gamma was the only person with a stern expression on his face.
“You will kill the Alpha?” One of the trainers asked to reconfirm.
“That's my only choice, sir.” My lips boldly answered again.
The trainers passed each other a glance.
“Ahm…go back to your place!” The other trainer commanded.
My answer differed from everyone else's, but it could attract a dagger to my neck. Nobody else dared to repeat my answer, and the test ended just like that.
“I will now announce the results.” Gamma muttered in his deep voice.
Three men were chosen for the Zeta position.
Next, Dania was selected for the chef position. She was pretty disappointed by the decision.
All the positions were filled one by one, and my name didn't echo. Even the maid's position was fine.
My headelicateas are slowly shrinking.
Was my answer wrong?
“The girl who will serve Alpha Killian as his personal attendant is…Rose Lancaster.” Gamma finally announced the name.
My eyes widened.
Did I really get the attendant’s position?
It was hard to believe!
“We wanted a fair attendant, and your answer was honest.” Gamma uttered the words with his stern face.
A tight smile glinted on my lips.
I was finally entering the golden gates.
I'm coming, Hayes.

Later in the evening…
My feet stepped out of the small room, and a guard escorted me to the golden gates.
“Gamma is waiting for you inside.” The guard mumbled.
He opened the gates for me, and adrenaline rushed down my veins. It was my first victory.
I stepped inside, and the gates closed behind me.
The pack house was the pure definition of lavish lifestyle. Everything inside was expensive and antique.
The pack house was indeed the heaven of the Crystal Moon pack.
“Rose Lancaster.” A heavy voice uttered my name.
My head turned in the direction of the voice only to see Gamma. His hands were crossed behind his waist, and his eyes were always empty.
“Welcome to the family.”
“Thank you, sir.”
Guards escorted the others to their room, but in my case, Gamma himself took me to my room next to Alpha's.
A maid rushed over to us.
“Take the bag inside.” Gamma commanded her.
She opened my room door and slid my bag inside while I stood in confusion beside Gamma.
“Introduce yourself to Alpha first.”
“Yes, sir.”
He slowly approached Alpha's door, and my feet followed.
“Go inside.” His voice ordered.
“Aren't you coming with me?” My lips inquired.
“No!” He refused.
“Alpha doesn't prefer more than one visitor in his room.” His words explained.
“Uh…okay.”
I was a little bit unsettled, but there was no other choice. Gamma opened the door for me, and my feet stepped inside.
The room had dim light and a strange mysterious aura, filled with Alpha's strong scent.
“Alpha?” My timid voice called for him.
No response!
“I am your new attendant.”
Still, no response!
My eyes glanced around the room, and he was nowhere to be seen.
“Where did he go?”
When my eyes were searching for him, a book fell on the floor from the bookshelf beside me.
I grabbed the book from the floor, turned around, and placed it back in its empty position on the shelf.
Unexpectedly, a force pinned me against the shelf and seized either of my hands behind my back.
My heart was in my mouth.
“Who are you?” A devilish voice whispered into my ear.
