Chapter 6

The bar

Nelly was cleaning up after they have finally closed up she was so tired after a long day Jack was keeping her company even helping her handing her the cleaning supplies but he loved chasing the mop every now and then Nelly would tease him with the mop and he would bark and chasing after it even attacked it a couple of times she was laughing so hard when he slipped on the wet floor and crashed into the wall.

Garry finished cleaning the kitchen and went to see if Nelly finished her work so he could walk her home like every day, he found her and Jack playing with the mop he smiled and leaned on the wall watching them, Nelly reminded him so much of his dead daughter he lost her before the war, she was sick with cancer and the chance of her cure was next to zero, the day he saved Nelly he felt like this was his second chance to save his baby girl and he cherished every day he spent with her.

Garry:"Ok princess enough wrestling with the poor mop we gotta go I need rest and sleep"

Nelly put the cleaning supplies back in the closet and ran to catch up with Garry

Garry closed up the bar and made sure that the alarm system is activated, Timothy bought this system after they had a burglary accident last year and it was worth every dollar he spent.

Garry:"Sweetheart can I ask you something?"

Nelly held on to Garry's arm and snuggled close to him while walking down the street.

Nelly:"Of course Gar you can ask me anything"

Garry:"What do you think of Timothy?"

Garry's question confused Nelly she couldn't get Garry's intent behind such a question

Nelly:"What do you mean Gar? he's our boss and I guess he's a good guy"

Garry laughed at her innocence he was sure she couldn't get what he was aiming at by asking her this question

Garry:"What I meant was that I think Timothy is a nice guy, he's only older than you with a few years the age gap is not too big and whenever you enter the bar I swear I can see hearts floating around him"

Nelly was confused at first but when Garry mentioned the floating hearts she finally understood what he meant she immediately blushed so hard and hid her face in his big arm.

Nelly:"Gaaaaar!"

Garry laughed so hard at her flushed state and Jack started barking cause he didn't understand why was Nelly hiding her face in Garry's arm

Garry:"Sweetheart one day you will fall in love, get married and give me grandkids I could spoil and I would hate it if you choose someone who won't be able to support and love you, I can see that Timothy is interested in you and looks like he's gathering his courage to ask you out so I wanted to know how you felt about him before he does"

Nelly let herself think about Timothy no as her boss as she always did but as her boyfriend, she tried to imagine hugging and kissing him and maybe after few months if they were happy together she would let him take her virginity but there was something inside her that couldn't imagine being with Timothy like that it's like she longed to feel all those feelings but not with Timothy.

Nelly:"Timothy is a very nice guy, he's strong, brave and reliable but I don't know I can't imagine myself with him like that Gar I don't know if I would be able to feel anything for him if I agreed to go out with him ... I would only break his heart in fact I feel like I won't be able to fall in love at all I'm too scared of getting attached to someone who would leave me one day like my p..parents"

By the time Nelly finished her sentence she was a bit emotional, she tried so hard to stop the tears from falling but in the end she couldn't hold herself.

Garry was heartbroken seeing her like this and he understood that what she went through was not easy she was so traumatized he even bought her a gun and a hunting knife to keep with her before going to bed, this way she would feel a bit safe and could sleep, he tried to convince her to come live with him and his wife Martha but she always said that she needed to depend on herself if she ever wanted to get better.

Garry:"I understand you completely sweetheart and I pray that one day you'll find the man who would be able to break through those barriers around your heart and make you fall in love, Now enough crying you're coming home with me today Martha swore if I don't bring you and Jack with me she won't let me in and I'm too old to be sleeping outside my poor back wouldn't survive"

Nelly laughed through her tears and tried to cheer up a little because if Martha saw her like that she won't let her go till she made sure that she's fine and nothing happened to her.

Garry and Nelly and Jack arrive to their neighborhood once Jack recognized Garry & Martha's house he ran to scratch the door and find Martha who always kept treats ready for him

Martha smiled when she heard the scratching on the door and knew that it was Jack.

Martha:"Is that you jackie boy ooooh let me get a treat for the good boy"

She took the treat and ran to the door to open it as soon as the door was open Jack jumped on Martha with his tail wiggling to fast he licked her whole face, Martha was laughing so hard and tried to push Jack a little but he didn't let her go at last she was able to give him his treat he took it and ran to his favorite couch and nipped on it happily.

Martha wiped her face and waited for her husband and Nelly to get in the house, Garry came in first he hugged Martha and kissed her on her lips before he went to chase Jack off his couch.

Garry:"Damn it Jack that's my couch you're a dog go sit in your dog bed"

Jack grumbled at Garry and continued chewing his treat and remained on the couch"

Garry groaned and sat beside him muttering "Stubborn dog"

Nelly got in and immediately Martha hugged her tightly then pushed her back to check on her make sure that she's healthy and not losing too much weight, Nelly laughed as every time she came Martha would scold her on losing weight and looking sick.

Martha:"You lost more weight than last time I saw you how many times do I have to tell you not to skip meals, be honest does Garry eat the lunch I send for you every day?"

Garry:"Honey I swear I don't eat it I give it to her daily"

Martha stared at Garry for a bit then turned to Nelly as if she was trying to figure out if they were lying by reading their minds

Nelly:" Aunty Martha I swear I eat my lunch every day and I don't think I have lost any weight recently I swear I'm fine and healthy"

Martha continued staring at Nelly a bit longer then when she was convinced she let it go.

Martha:"Ok darling go clean up till I prepare some snacks and something light to eat before you g to bed"

Nelly went to the room she stayed in after Garry saved her whenever she visited them or stayed for the holidays or weekends she would always stay in this room, it was Garry & Martha's daughter room at first she felt awkward staying there but both Garry and Martha told her that it was ok and since the first day they took her in they felt like they had two daughters, she didn't make them feel like she was replacing their late daughter but God blessed them with another one.

She freshened up and went back down stairs when she entered the dining room she couldn't find Garry and Martha there then she heard voices in the kitchen so she went there to check if there was something she could help with, once she entered the kitchen she saw Garry's back at first she didn't think much about it and got in.

Nelly:" Hey Gar where's Aunty Martha I can hel.........."

Nelly froze and couldn't complete her sentence as when Garry heard her voice he quickly turned around and she could clearly see a blushing Martha in his embrace trying to quickly fix her clothes and hair.

Nelly was so embarrassed, it turned out she came in while they were having a hot moment. She quickly slapped her hands on her eyes and tried to escape from the kitchen, but instead she crashed into the wall and fell on her butt.

Garry & Martha couldn't hold it and they busted laughing at her

Nelly:"Oh My God I'm so sorry I barged in like that you guys can continue what you were doing I .. I will be outside"

She made sure she was not going to run into any walls again, then she left the kitchen while Garry and Martha where still laughing till they couldn't breathe

Martha:"Sweetheart, no need to be so embarrassed. This is normal between loving couples. When you meet a nice boy you won't be able to keep him away from you"

Nelly was even more embarrassed after what Martha said but she couldn't help to imagine what it would feel like to meet someone who would love her like Garry loves aunty Martha.
