UNREQUITED LOVE
(It is morning in a small town called Lamulele. Belle, a young and beautiful lady adopted in a family of three. Belle is compelled to work hard to support her dying adoptive mother, and take care of her two brothers. She works as an assistant at a local school.)
“Belle, when are you going to look for a job to take care of your dying mother?”, her friend Sarah asks. “Sarah, I have been applying for a job as hard as I can, but I can’t seem to get any. My mother needs me at these times.” Sarah cared for her sick adoptive mother, despite all the pain she caused her. Sarah’s parents had died during a war with which she had to be taken to an orphanage. (Loud coughs), “Mother are you okay?”, “oya, don’t pretend to care for me now, you must be very happy that I’m not fine so that you can take my house and let my children suffer.” (Sarah just looks at her mother and laughs). “Come on mother, if that was the case I would’ve done it long ago.” Sarah was now used to all taunts from her mother, she didn’t let her words affect her anymore, she’d pull up a fearless face, but deep down she wanted to cry. Few hours later, Sarah got a message. It was an email from a local school, she had been granted a job after a long time of searching. She promised her brothers and mother to give them a better life. She took a bath and was heading out to send her curriculum vitae to the school. Before she could even arrive, a car passed by so fast and she got splashed with water. The man driving was Dec, a young rich man from a wealthy family. Instead of apologising, he gave her 500 ZAR and said, “here, take this money and go buy yourself a new dress.” Sarah was running late she had no time to argue with the man, she ran back home and wore another dress, and Dec drove home to his mother.
Sarah got back home from submitting her cv and she had gotten the job, she wasted no time, took her clothes off, wore her sleeping dress and went to sleep.
