Chapter Twenty-Two Milo I woke to the sound of bacon frying. The smell was comforting, but I soon was flooded with memories of what had happened and realized I wasn't at home. Fear of the unknown made me shoot up in the bed. "Lay back," my grandmother said, putting her hands on my shoulders. "You're fine. I'm here." "Where's here?" I asked. My head pounded as I tried to keep my eyes open to see my new surroundings. There were whiteboard walls of a long room with a kitchen area and several rows of beds. It had soft light but no windows, and covering the bed were billowing blankets. "Rest now," she said. "We'll talk later. We'll talk like we used to."
