Chapter 2

After we had arrived to our first destination the global officials separated mothers with children from the single women and women with children over the adult age. I noticed that they also did a group separation of the single women in age. At the time I didn't understand why they were doing all this separation. Then they loaded us up in shuttles, our next destination was DFW, I felt some relief as I hoped that meant I'd be reunited with my baby sister and niece.

When we got their they had taken us to an educational training facility and put us in the lounging’s so we could rest. Each family was put in their own rooms. The room we were put in had two small beds. I laid Alaric down in one and then laid on the other with Ashlyn on my chest. As I sang them to sleep I thought about what I observed. All the officials were young men, where did all the women officials go? What the hell is going on? They never told us! I cried silent tears until I fell asleep wishing my husband his safety.

I jolted awake to a loud chime. As I opened the door to our room I noticed many other moms stepping out trying to figure out what was going on? "What now?" I heard someone ask, wait, that voice. . . There I saw a petite girl with thin platinum blonde hair. As she turned around I saw the face I longed to see.

"Liz?" I said looking towards the direction of the voice! "Oh my god! Liz!" I shouted as we made eye contact.

"Ellie!!!" She shouted as she ran to me throwing her arms around me. "Thank gods you're safe! What the hells going on. The took Jacob and then last night his mom and I got separated because of her age! What the f**k does that have to do with keeping us safe?"

"I don't know! I was thinking the same thing last night! . . . Where's Leigha?" I asked noticing I didn't see my two year old brown haired niece.

"She's still asleep. I couldn't get her to calm down until about an hour ago!"

"Attention women and children!" A loud voice said with authority from a sound box I just notice on the ceiling in the hallway. "We understand this all must be scary and confusing. We ask all to bathe and gather your things. In two hours you will be escorted to your next destination where you will be fed and informed! Time is of the essence so please do so in good pace."

After the announcement finished we all stood in the hall processing everything. After dismissing herself, Liz went to her room. After I closed the door I finally noticed another door in the room. Well at least we don't have to share a shower. I went to shower and got ready before I woke the kids. I had just finished getting them bathed and dress when the escort chime sounded.

As we ate I noticed no one was talking besides getting onto the younger children or to calm them. None of the women shared conversation. The tension was so thick you'd need a bulldozer to get through it.

Everyone jumped when the door flew opened and a line of officials filed in surrounding the room. An official with high honor stepped up with a voice projector as a few others handed out small packets to all adult aged women. "Earth Evacuation?" I mumbled as I read the title. When I looked up I saw my inner feelings reflected on all the women's faces. What the f**k is going on?

"As you ladies just read, you will be evacuating earth! There is a great threat approaching earth. A few years ago our global government discovered life on planets past our galaxy. Somehow we had upset or offended life on one of those planets by merely discovering them. A fleet is on it's way to earth and for precautionary measures we are evacuating the women and children as the men train to fight. We believe we have a few months before they reach Earths orbit but to be safe you will be evacuated this evening. There are space shuttles that will be scattered through campus. In your packet on the first page you will see which shuttle and what time you will be expected to board. To ease the travel the younger ones will be given a sleeping serum before departure of Earth to help them not freak out. The ride may be bumpy and we want to risk panic attacks. If you are prone to such attacks inform the medics and the will administer one to you as well. Once you are safely on the colony ships further information will be given. Thank you and please refrain from any further panic to help the process run smoothly." After finishing the announcement the high honor official saluted and left the room, the others shortly followed leaving a handful behind to insure our safety.

After a few moments Liz bent over to whisper, "you think all of Earth or only certain countries are doing this?"

Before answering I looked around to observe the officials in the room. "I couldn't tell you for sure but I have noticed they didn't keep the evacuation to certain class just certain age groups. I wonder where the older women are and why they separated us. I could see why they took all adult men but why the older women? That and it's all men global officials, where's the women? And why only the younger men? Even the High Honor wasn't older than thirty-five."

"Good points sister. Something about all this feels off but what can we do about it? . . . What shuttle did you get? Hopefully we can stick close to each other. I got the shuttle that boards at three near the atrium."

I glanced down, not realizing I was holding my breath, I let out a sigh of relief when I saw I was on the same shuttle. "I guess I'll see you and Leigha at three then." With a smile Liz nodded, picked up Leigha and left to the designated relief area. They had toys set out for the kids and sofas. None of the screen walls were on and only a few story tablets were available. I also noticed my comm band wasn't working so there was no way I could check up on my husband.

"Oh my god, Leon!" I heard Liz squeal down the hall. Wait, Leon? Could it be? I stood up grabbed Ashlyn and told Alaric to follow. As I rounded the corner sure enough it was Leon, my brother! I haven't seen him in almost eleven years. No wonder why, I thought as I noticed he was in a global officials uniform.

"So, you became a global medic after all?" I said as I approached.

"It's nice to see you too Ellie!" He said with a smile as he gave me a tight hug. Glancing down his smile widened, "So, I see my little sisters had babies. What might your names be?"

Alaric squared his shoulders and crossed his arms, "I'm Alaric and that's Ashlyn and Leigha! Them and momma and Aunnie Liz are mine to protect!"

Laughing Leon stood in formation crossing his arms, "oh is that right? I can see you'll make a great official some day." He then ruffled Alarics hair and his face turned serious as he looked to me. "I know you Ellie, you've got a sharp mind and you observe. I can see the questions in your eyes but I can't answer them. I will be the medic on your shuttle. You both can trust me. I will also be on the colony with you. It has always been my duty to protect y'all and I will continue to do so. This is all I can tell you right now. Please, you both need to be cooperative so the process runs smoothly. Once we get to the colonies y'all will have to register. Stay truthful with your personal individual information!" He paused for a moment and his eyes softened. "I will see you at three!" With that said he turned and left.

"What now?" Liz whispered as she grabbed Leigha's hand with worry in her eyes.

"For now we relax and wait. Remember, personal individual information." I sighed as we walk further down the corridor.
