"Dr. Chen is indeed my father. I am his illegitimate daughter."
The revelation hangs in the air for a moment before Mia snorts.
It's an uncharacteristic sound from my usually composed companion, a reaction I have never seen from Mia.
Her face looks…disgusted but I can see the underlying pain she is trying so hard to conceal.
"Of course you are," Mia says, her voice dripping with something between amusement and disdain. "Dr. Chen has many illegitimate children scattered across this pack and probably beyond. You're not special in that regard."
Mia's tone is harsh but what catches me off guard is her words.
