The harsh words make Mira flinch, but she doesn't back down. "Maybe you are right but I don't care.
All I know is that he is in danger and I can't just abandon him. Even if he has made terrible choices and has been a terrible father to most of his children…he's still my father. He gave me life, doesn't that count for something? We are alive thanks to him."
The question hangs in the air and I see Mia's expression shift from anger to something more complicated.
"It counts for something," I say quietly, breaking the tension. "Family is complicated, and love doesn't always make sense. You want to save your father despite his flaws. That's not wrong, Mira."
