"Mia—" I start, but it seems she is not finished with Kieran.
“ You are the Princess’ designated guard, how could you leave her without anyone to protect her?” She continues.
"I had orders," Kieran says tightly. "I had direct orders from the Alpha. I couldn't refuse without raising suspicion." He explains.
I understand Mia's frustrations but blaming Kieran for what happened doesn't seem fair.
But oh well, he can get a piece of her mind before I intervene.
"So you just abandoned her?" Mia's voice rises. "Some guard you are!" There's mockery and anger in her voice.
"Mia, that's enough." I put as much authority into my voice as I can manage. "Kieran was doing his job. I'm the one who made the choice to step in front of that blade. Nobody could have stopped me." I explain.
