Blurb:

In the glittering world of Manhattan's elite, where fortunes are made and broken, I never imagined I'd become entangled with the enigmatic billionaire, Sebastian Wright . My name is Chloe White, and this is my story.

I've always believed in hard work and determination, not in the sweep-me-off-my-feet kind of love. But when I was offered a job as an assistant at Wright Financial, I never expected to meet a man who could turn my world upside down. Sebastian was charismatic, powerful, and had a past he kept locked away. As our professional relationship deepened, so did our personal one, and I soon found myself torn between my ambitions and a desire I couldn't ignore.

As our romance blossomed, secrets unraveled. A mysterious villain threatened not just my newfound love but my very existence. I was forced to confront the harsh reality of the elite world I had entered, with adversaries lurking in every shadow. And through it all, I realized that love and ambition are a treacherous blend, leaving me to question the choices I had made.

With adversaries working to destroy everything I'd built, I had to find the strength within me to protect the man I loved and the future I had envisioned. Love's Fortune is a tale of deception, betrayal, and the strength of a woman pushed to her limits. Join me on a journey through the labyrinth of high society, where true love can be the most elusive treasure of all.

Chapter 1
My hometown, a picturesque enclave on the outskirts of Manhattan, was a haven of tranquility. The tree-lined streets, the cozy houses, and the close-knit community made it the kind of place where everyone knew each other's names. It was a stark contrast to the bustling city just a train ride away. On this particular day, I was curled up in my bedroom, a sanctuary filled with well-worn books and cherished mementos. The sunlight filtered through the lace curtains, casting a warm glow on my world of literature. The soft scent of my favorite novel filled the air, wrapping me in a comforting embrace. The story transported me to far-off places, a temporary escape from my quiet life. "Chloe!" My mother's voice echoed from downstairs, interrupting my reverie. "Can you please check the mail, dear?"I sighed, reluctantly marking my page and placing the book on my nightstand. Slowly, I descended the stairs, pausing for a moment to admire the family photographs adorning the walls. Each one was a testament to the love and warmth that filled our home.I reached the front door, the familiar creak of the porch steps underfoot. As I opened the mailbox, I sifted through the stack of envelopes and bills. My heart skipped a beat when I came across a letter bearing the logo of Wright Financial. My fingers trembled as I tore open the envelope and began to read. The words on the page filled me with a sense of elation and disbelief. I had been hired for the position I had dreamed of - a job at Wright Financial in Manhattan. I was to start the following week.My joy erupted in a jubilant scream that echoed through the house. In an instant, my parents and our next-door neighbor, Mrs. Johnson, came running into the living room to see what had happened. "What is it, dear? Are you okay?" My mother asked, her eyes wide with concern. I could hardly contain my excitement. "I got the job, Mom! I got the job at Wright Financial in the city!". My mother's face broke into a radiant smile, and my father clapped me on the back. "That's wonderful news, bella! We're so proud of you!", My father said using the pet name he gave me. It wasn't long before my mother, an eternal optimist, decided that we needed to celebrate. "We'll have a party this Friday, Chloe, when Eric gets back from his job. We'll invite the whole neighborhood!"My father nodded in agreement, grinning from ear to ear. "It's about time you found yourself a boyfriend in the city, Chloe!"I couldn't help but laugh, feeling overwhelmed by their love and support. It was then that I remembered to share the news with Olivia, my best friend from high school who lived nearby. I quickly dialed her number."livia" I screamed into the phone calling her my favorite nickname for her, "you won't believe what just happened! I got the job, and we're having a party on Friday to celebrate. Can you come over?", Olivia's voice came through the phone, filled with excitement. "Of course, I'll be right over, Chloe!". As Olivia rushed to my house, we began planning the party, and I couldn't have been more grateful for her presence. It was the perfect way to kick off this new chapter in my life, surrounded by the people I loved and the friend who had always been like a sister to me. The future was filled with promise, and I couldn't wait to embrace it. Friday arrived in a blur of activity and preparation for the party. As my mum and Olivia prepared for the party I prepared to leave Saturday to be able to get an apartment and get settled in. As I packed my thing and bought some new things I would need for my new apartment, I couldn't help but feel nostalgic about moving. For 25 years of my life I've always dreamt of going to the city and now that opportunity was here but here I was feeling a bit scared about making a big change. It wouldn't be the same without mum always hassling me and Dad laughing at us. Sitting under the apple tree at the back reading a book as Dad and Eric played baseball. Helping mum in the kitchen to prepare dinner and most of all olivia dragging me to another party to try to get me to come out of my shell and have some fun. She was the one I would miss the most. She had always been the exciting part of my boring life. Whenever she came over she was always armed with wild stories about her the latest thing she has done. It is always a wonder to me how she manages to have so much fun in our little boring town. She and I have always been so different yet so compatible, while she was out partying, I was in my room traveling to different places in the world through my books. She became a sister to me and my family recognized her as much. I was going to miss Eric and his over protective nature. Even though I was two years older than him it never showed, people always thought he was my boyfriend because I looked nothing like my mum or Dad, instead the good lord saw it fit to make me look my grandma on my mum's side. Mum always said she was small and fragile like me but had a very loud and bold personality. I guess God also forgot to add the loud and bold personality to my gene. Whilst I looked like my grandma I behaved nothing like her. I am quite and calm, hate drama and so hate getting into trouble. Grandma was a daredevil like olivia, it made me secretly wonder if olivia is my real sister. Chuckling at the ridiculous thought, I was about to continue packing when olivia bust into my room hopping up and down and grinning like a chesier cat. "Livia what's going on, why are you so excited" I asked laughing at her cute face "guess what?" Livia asked "you got a new boyfriend?", "No" livia replied and rolled her eyes. I continued guessing "uhmmm, oh you're coming with me to manhattan?" I asked getting equally excited, and Olivia calmed down "I wish I could though but that's not it" getting excited again she screamed "mum's baking red velvet cake". We screamed and ran downstairs to the kitchen together. Red velvet cake was out favorite and mum knew which was why she was baking it. We both helped her till it was time to pick up Eric from the airport. I quickly washed my hands and dusted myself to get all the flour off me. I kissed mum on her check grabbed the keys to our honda and drove off. I knew Eric would be fratenizing with his air hostess as usual so I decided to take my time on the drive admiring my little town knowing it would be a while before I saw it again. As I pulled up to the airport, Eric walked out the building with his latest conquest on his arm. It was so nauseating to watch. She was literally eye f*****g him like they hadn't just finished one round already. I horned so Eric knew I had arrived. He turned to where I usually park when I come to pick him up and shouted "baby girl". I rolled my eyes at the annoying pet name he had given me ever since he got bigger than me. Quickly discarding his arm candy he ran to the car, threw his luggage in the booth and got in car seat beside me. Leaning down to talk to him through the window his arm candy asked "who is she Eric". Turning to look at me with a huge grin on his face, I sighed knowing what he was about to tell her. When we were in high school I helped Eric escape one of his crazy ex's by telling her I was his girlfriend since we looked nothing alike. Ever since then he always made me help him out anytime he wanted to break up with one of his girlfriends. He looked back at his arm candy "she's my girlfriend". With that I sped off leaving the broken hearted girl behind. "Really Eric, you're still doing this, when are you finally going to grow up and man up and date like a normal dude". I launched into my usual lecture of how he be ought to be matured and responsible enough to start thinking of his future partner and the sacredness of s*x and not disrespecting a womans body. But as usual he brushed it off and told me he'd get serious when he was ready. "Stop being such a c**k block baby girl, relax let's go to your party and have some fun". I wacked him on the back of his head and asked him how his flight was. We chatted throughout the ride back home. The house was suspiciously quite when we got back. Turning to Eric "that's strange, when I left, the house was bustling with activity". Eric shrugged maybe mom decided to cancel the party, grabbing his suitcase we headed in side. But I couldn't help but wonder because mom never cancelled a party "SURPRISE!!!", everyone yells as I step into the house. "Awwwn, you guys I love you so much" I walked forward and pulled mum, dad and Olivia into a hug. Turning to everyone present I yelled "thanks guys this is wonderful". The party began with I and Erics arrival. There's was karaoke, food, drinks, laughter, it was wonderful till the very end. "The party was amazing thank you guys" I said to my family. The party was over and we were seated under the apple tree at the back of the house eating leftover cake. We shared old memories and laughed. I and mum shed a few tears and soon mum and Dad went to bed. Eric and I stayed up for a while talking before deciding to go to bed. As I lay in bed I couldn't help but wonder what challenges I would face in the city and if I would be able to overcome them, little did I know that meeting Sebastian Winter would be the beginning of the dangerous journey that would soon become my life.
