Chapter 3 My day at Wright Financial unfolded like a whirlwind, a constant stream of meetings, tasks, and I was feeling so drained. I really didn't expect it to be so hectic. It was a big change from my calmed pace life back at home. Sebastian Wright , my enigmatic boss, was an intriguing mix of professionalism and a hidden vulnerability. It was so annoying. He noticed how I would Sometimes make little mistakes and he would make jokes just to make me relax. What really annoyed me was how he would switch and be cold the next moment as if we didn't just share a laugh. It made me wonder what he would be like outside the office. As the day passed, I settled into my role as his personal assistant. My duties ranged from managing his schedule to drafting important documents, and at times, even fetching his coffee. I was at his every beck and call. I took calls for him, spoke to important clients for him, gave him ideas on some projects. Honestly I was surprised on how much he let me know about the company when I just got employed. He even let me go through classified files. Although he was so open with me about literally almost everything concerning the company. I couldn't access some files, and when I asked him about it he became guarded and told me it didn't concern me, so I just let it go and handled every tasks he threw at me on my first day. With the amount of tasks on ground it seemed like his last assistant was fired without notice. Wondering what could have possibly happened and not wanting to be her, I made sure I completed each task as efficiently as possible. By the time we were through it was freaking ten o'clock and my feet were killing me. All I wanted to do was relax with pizza and a milk shake. I made a mental note to get some on my way home. The building was literally empty as I made my way out. I met the reception lady gathering her things to leave. when she saw me she smiled, grabbed her things and came to meet me. "Chloe right" she asked "yeah" I replied. "I'm Sarah, don't worry you'll get used to your busy schedule, you look like a tough gal. It's usually not this busy though. Sebastian just signed a huge contract with this new oil company. I hear they're hiring us to handle all their financial transactions, so we've been really busy trying to take over. I'm sure once we're completely merged it won't be so busy". She spoke about Sebastian so freely it made me wonder if he knew him personally. To be honest it made me a little jealous. "Thank you so much Sarah for the update. Right now all I want to do is go home". "I can help you with that," Sarah said "where do you stay" sighing a huge breath of relief of not having to walk a moment more in these heels I thanked her and told her I lived in the estate close to the train station. "Wow, your folks must be rich" Eve said dumping her things in the back seat of her car. "Why do you say so" I asked getting into the front seat of her car. "Are you kidding me" she looked at me like was dumb or trying to make fun of her. "Mont Swiss estate, is where majority of the richest people in manhattan live, rumors have been going around that Sebastian supposedly owns an apartment there, only thing is no one knows which one". I chuckled nervously and changed the subject asking her Where she lived, because i didn't know how to explain that I had gotten my house for an unbelievable discount. I wondered if she would even believe me. She told me lived futher up town and it was less than an hours drive. "Oh so does that means you can't drop me off ?" I asked, seeing as my house was in the opposite direction of hers. "And miss a chance to see what the estate looks like, no way, I'm definitely dropping you off. I want to see your house" she replied excited. Fine by me I thought. I asked her to stop so I could get my pizza and milkshake and we continued our journey. When we entered the estate she "oohed" and "ahhhed" till we finally got to my house. I invited her in and ended up wishing I didn't. She criticized everything, right from the paint on the walls to the plant on my window. She didn't even understand the meaning of privacy. She entered everywhere even the toilet. I had enough. I was tired and just wanted a nice bath, some food and sleep. With that in mind I grabbed her arm lightly pulling her away from the lamp she was criticizing. "Oh look at the time, don't you think you should get going it's getting quite late". That did the trick "yes your right okay good bye bella, we should hang out sometime though, I'd love to give you some tips on decorating, right now your house looks like an old lady lives here, which you clearly are not." Pissed off I bade her good night and almost slammed the door in her face. How dare she call my beautiful safe heaven and old ladies house. We definitely weren't hanging out anytime soon. I went into my room to change when I remembered that I hadn't called home since I got here and they probably didn't call because Eric gave them details on how I was doing before he left. I made a note to call them when I was free and stuck it to my cork board. I took a shower, ate and jumped into by bed and I was soon asleep. My beautiful Ring tone of won't let go by Kennedy arthur woke me up. Wondering who could be calling me by this time of the morning , I picked up my phone to find it was strange number. I declined it and went back to sleep and sure enough it rang again. I wasn't a morning person at all. Getting up early made me really cranky, but all that was about to change when I picked up the call and heard Sebastian's voice. At first I didn't realize it was my boss when he spoke, "uhm who is this and how did you get my number, and who the hell calls someone by 3 in the morning. Eric if this is you I'm really not in the mood, I had a stressful day yesterday and I need my beauty rest". There's was a long pause on the other side of the line before the voice responded. "Ms WhiteI suggest that you get out of bed , make yourself a cup of coffee and do what I'm about to tell you or get fired. With that the sleep cleared and I was alert. "Oh my God , I'm so sorry sir, I didn't realize........." he cut me off "I've sent an email of a list of names for you to send invitations to, for a charity dinner event holding in the next two weeks". "What?" the event was in the next two weeks and he was making me deliver invitations this morning?. I was super pissed. I didn't realize that I had spoken aloud when I said 'what' untill he asked me what the matter was. "Nothing sir it's just that the event is in two weeks and you're making me send invitations this morning and.........". "Ms White" he interrupted me again. "It seems to me like You're not interested in your job anymore". My eyes widen to saucers "of course not, I was just..". He stopped me yet again. "Then do what I've asked you to do". With that he cut the call. I sighed and fell back on my bed. I knew this job was going to be tough but I didn't expect it to be this tough. I hadn't even started and I was already dreading going to work later today. Getting off my bed reluctantly I got my laptop and made a huge cup of coffee. I knew it would become my favorite beverage in the days to come. I knew I had to do the work in nook in the the living room because I would definitely sleep off if I had to stay close to my bed.
