Edgeseekers

3367 Words
It has been almost a week ever since the incident on the island of experiences. I was able to accomplish my tasks and received some decent rewards after it. There were various items along with it, and a decent amount of gold too. The golds were kind of useless though, as a God I get everything for free after all. There is a mysterious item though that came along with the rewards, it is some kind of sphere wrapped in cloth that glows. It is called "cerancula" which until now I have no idea what it does. We have tried going to different merchants and blacksmiths to ask if maybe they know something about it, and counting my privilege as a god in, there seems to be no hope of finding information about it. Right now we are at Hergrinct wandering around town. We have no idea of what to do right now so we ended up taking a few walks around town for me to be familiarized with the place. Have I mentioned also that Diether is currently living with us now? The treehouse has expanded thanks to our affinities we were able to renovate it. It's not as fancy as a mansion, but it is unique enough as a treehouse.+ uu "I still can not believe I am seeing a God right now." Diether mentioned along with the sounds of his footsteps created by his cute and adorable feet wrapped in black and white sneakers. Elio and I looked immediately at Diether because of awareness. "Hey, kid you can not just go around town saying you're walking with a God. They are after all not allowed to expose their identity unless they saw it on the field." Elio whispered. Diether's eyes widened in shock and immediately covered his mouth with his clean hands — which to be honest isn't clean that much because of the snow. The snow isn't pouring heavily though, it's as calm as ever when winter season occurs. "Diether?" I looked at him as I call him. He looked at me.immediately while he tries to blow the coldness away from his hands. I guess the snow must've made his hands cold. "Do you remember when I touched that guy's head?" I asked him. "Which guy?" he replied. "The one before during the event in the island of abilities." "What about him?" I stopped walking and looked back at my hands. The crest in my hands never faded after I touched his head. "You mentioned something about disciples." I asked him. "Yes I did. Disciples are descendants of god that are entrusted with the powers of the deities they are after. In order for that to happen, your disciple's affinity must be related to the god's affinity itself." he explained. "So concealment and illusion are related?" I asked. "Yes, that's probably what it ended up. Since concealment is about hiding things and illusion is about faking things, I guess that is what makes the two related." he said. "So what should I do now?" I asked him. "He''s your disciple and you entrusted some of your powers into him. Actually you can call him anytime and he will be teleported to you immediately. However, I have no idea how can you actually do that." he said. "Is that so?" I replied. Dether nodded at me. Elio on the other side was glancing at different objects around us. "I know now where should we go." he told us. Diether and I looked at him as his finger points towards somewhere. It is most likely a castle in the middle of the city. "What is that?" I asked him. "Instead of explaining, it is better if we go inside." Elio said as he grabbed mine and Diether's hands and rushed towards the castle. He pulled us as he run inside the castle. It isn't filled with much people, but the aura inside is energetic. There are some who were drinking, and some were just chatting — if not by their acquaintance, with the main guy on the counter back. There is this bald guy with some flexibility in him. He's preparing orders by the people in front of him, mostly ladies though. They seemed to be flirting and kinking up with him. Elio immediately let our hands loose off of his as he continue walking towards the guy in the middle. Diether and I were left looking at each other wondering what is he planning to do. "There is no way." Diether said. "Hmm?" I asked him. Diether did not answer my question. He walked towards Elio while having a doubting face while surely, some part of it were smiling, because I just feel it. Elio looked back at us while waiving over. He called us while cheerfully smiling so I walked towards him too. "So everyone, meet Dio. He's the guild manager." Elio said as he point towards the muscled bald guy over the counter. "So this is everyone?" He asked Elio. Elio nodded at him. There were a bunch of topics they were talking that I could not catch up at all. There were words like faction, guild, masteries and a bunch of random words that does not ring a bell to me at all. When Elio was finay done talking to the guild manager, he looked at us and explained everything. "We will be forming a faction." he told us. "A faction of three?" Diether asked. "If you're with a you know..." Elio said as he look at me. "It doesn't matter how many much is in that faction." he continued. "I see." Diether replied. "So first you need a name." the guild manager said. "Hmm." Elio muttered. "How about Lightseekers?" Diether recommended. "Good one, but sounds too common." Elio said. I couldn't contribute a single thing to this faction thing. I want to know what it means to be honest however, the rapid transition of events could not let me catch up. There were so many exchanges of ideas about the faction name and even a single one I have not contributed. To be honest I don't feel like I belong at all, not in the way that I don't know them or something, it is just that I could not catch up at all. At some point I want to say something, but there are seconds that I doubt. But I still let myself talk, "How about Edgeseekers." They both looked at me, including the guild manager. "That's a unique one." the guild manager said. "Indeed, I like it." Elio said. "Nice recomendation." Diether said. They all seemed to like my recommendation which is why the faction name ended up being named as Edgeseeker. The name came from my weapon which named Edgelight and the seeker means to find and seek out. The reason I have thought of that name is because of my tasks that I have to do. There were some that is about discovering these people whom I don't actually know but after some conclusions, these are gods like me. I am guessing that I have to figure out the dispute between them. But that would ruin the fact that Elio told me, there ahould be only 10 gods and or goddesses. If I am one of them, then that would mean that the people in these cards are not actually gods. Wait. I remember now. My role is the 11th god. I was tasked to find the dispute between ten people whom I should know. If there are ten photocards then that must only mean that the cards shows the picture of the different gods. But why are the photos blurred? I find no valid reason as to why should these be blurred. Or maybe it's for protection. After Elio said that the gods were believed to be mythic beings years ago, it has come to my mind that these gods are actually extinct however, there seems to be contradicting clues. Diether told me that in order for someone to be a disciple of a god, there must be a contact between the two. The only one who could break the doubt is Diether. After Elio went back to talking with the guild manager, I immediately tapped Diether's shoulders and called him, "Diether." He looked at me right after he felt my tap. "Hmm?" he asked. "Remember last time you told me that in order for someone to be a disciple of a god, there must be an interaction between the two?" I asked. "Yes, why?" I figured. Suthain, the light god is not dead or gone. "Then do you remember how you became one?" I asked. "As I said before, I was born with Suthain's mark. It is not possible that there was an interaction between us two, howver, it is still possible that God Suthain interacted with one of my ancestors and that the Mark was passed on to me by bloodlines." he explained. There should be no reason still for Suthain to be gone or dead. "Why are you asking me this all of a sudden?" he asked. I have got no answer to tell him because this is a classified information even though he knows that I am a god. It is a shock though that he never asked me about Suthain. It is like he never actually cared for him at all. Before I could give out some random explanation, the upper part of my hand glowed. I looked at it and the crest on top of my hand was glowing. "The disciple light." he said. "What do you mean by that?" I asked him. "The disciple light is a sign that your disciple is near or your disciple needs help. It may also mean that you are calling him, which I suppose are not because you don:t need of any use from him." he said. Then the only reason the crest glows is that the disciple is near. The door of the castle opened and ai glanced immediately towards it. Diether was right, he is near. It was he and his friends that enterred the castle. I looked at him and saw that he caught my gaze. He ran towards me with a smile in his face. It took him some time before he finally reached me. "Hey." he said. I smiled at him. "Thank you for sparing me." he said. "It wasn't my intention at all." I told him. "The thing is, it is such a pleasure to meet a god and be his disciple. I promise I will do my very best to be of any use to you and your comrades." he whispered to me. "Are you forming a faction?" he asked me. "I have not the slightest idea what even a faction is." I told him. "Factions are like groups or teams or parties that are official. Most likely they receive official requests and tasks that can be found at the task board." he told me. So were doing an official group, I see. Yes we are forming a fsction, here are my comrades. How about you? Are you forming one too?" I asked him. "Oh not really. We have already formed a faction of our own and we are here to just get some quests. After you spared our lives I have decided that the best thing to do is work hard. Because life isn't just actually always about gaining from others, it is sometimes about gaining things while you work hard on your own." he said. "Very well said. I hope you'll do good from now on." I told him. He smiled at me and ai tapped his shoulders. He was with his two comrades that we saw before. Immediately after they left Elio and Diether both looked at me. "Were you talking to someone?" Elio asked. I shook my head and repled, "No, none at all." Then Elio handed me the contract of the faction. I looked at it as I take it from him and saw the name of our faction to be "Edgeseekers". I looked at it thoroughly and saw that the faction leader is me. They may have made the decision without consukting me, but I prefer asking so I talked to him saying, "Why am I the faction leader?" "There's no use being humble now. You being a god is enough reason to be considered as the faction leader. Plus even if you don't want it the contract has already been made therefore you cannot change it anymore." he told me. I am really not pllanning on contradicting. In terms of things like this I can't really win because they have more knowledge about the world than I di so it is better if I leave these kinds of things to them. "I am not really contradicting, I just want to know why did you pick me. Aside from the reason that I am a god there should be something as to why you chose me." I asked them. "You're actually right. The thing is, we chose you because even if you have not much of a knowledge aboutt the world, your fighting skills are extraordinary not because you're a god but you think of situations extremely fast. You understand the scenarios and knows what to do in a simple fight in just a matter of seconds if not by luck, by thinking mentally." Elio explained. The explanation was really long and I was just asking for a simple one. "Alright I understand it now." I told him and I laughed. "So shall we go to the task board and finish our first task? After all this is some reward." Elio said. "You know that currency doesn't really matter to me." I told him. "So you're just gonna let us do the task on our own without you?" he asked me. "No that"s not my—" "I am just kiding relax. Let"s just go to the task board and help us out okay?" he told me. I nodded in agreement and we started walking. The inside of the castle is majestic and astounding. There were ornaments that seems to be luxurious and there were funitures too that seems to be made out of gold. The task board is beside the stairs towards the second floor, so we started walking directly beside the stair. While we were walking, one of the doors on my right opened and I felt something so peculiar. But if I remember correctly, I have already felt this before. My eyes widened and my body started shaking. It is like there's a fear inside me that can't seem to let me go. I glanced immediately at the door that opened and I saw numerous amount of people — numerous, but not really much — inside. All of them were just sitting on a couch and talking to each other. One of the guy with white hair saw me and his eyes widened. I stopped walking and stared at him with no stop. Later on I found myself walking towards the room with the door open and I continued walking. When I was almost near the door, it immediately shut and I came backcto my senses. I paused for some time while standing there, thinking about what could have happened and what was that feeling that I just felt. A few moments of pausing, I heard Elio calling me saying, "Hey Al is there any problem?" I immediately looked back at them and then took a short glance at the door. What could it possibly be? What is that feeling that was so unknown? With the intensity of what I felt I just feel like it is something new. I took the photocards from my backpack and immediately looked at them. There were no changed in 9 of them but a minimal change in one of them. The photo became clearer and there was a name underneath the photo. "Suthain" It was the light god's name that I saw. Underneath a still unclear but almost clear photo was the word Suthain. It must be a photo of Suthaim. But how come this one has a name already and that the photo became clearer? "Hey what are you looking at?" Diether asked me. I immediately hid the photos inside my bay amd saw them already holding a piece of paper. "Why are you both holding one paper each?" I asked them. "Well we could not decide on which task to do so we ended up picking two. So you have to choose one since you are the leader." Diether told me. Now I know what the leader should do and I bet throughout my whole life that this is going to be problematic and disturbing. They showed me the papers and could not actually choose on what to pick so I ended up saying, "Why don't we do both?" Beleve me every second I wish I did nit say those words. The argument between the two did not worsen but those words I said created a whole mess that I would regret. We ended up travelling towards the north for the first task. The task says here that we have to eliminate some snow goblins which I remember clearly what is. Snow goblins are goblins capable of using snow magic. In the northern part of Ylgaea, snowngoblins are what is causing the snow. However, according to this quest, there are snowgoblins that don't want to stop the snow even though it should not be snowing right now. The travel was that really long. It took us about more than an hour to go there, not to mention we even took the portal pads just to go there faster. When we arrived, the task was accurate and correct. There were few snows that is appearing. the thing about Ylgaea is that every part if the map has its own season. Northern, Soythern, Western, Eastern and acentral. All five or that has different season each which I find unique yet disturbing. We got no time to feel disturbed though, we went around immediately to ask for clues and help in order to find these snow goblins that are causing these unbalanced snow. The nearest clue we got is that they live in a cave where the ancestors of the northern part of Ylgaea used to gather. There were tons of directiond given to us and ended up not understanding either single one of them. "Forget it. I'll just blindly point somewhere and we:ll go there." Elio said. "That's a stupid idea." Diether said. "Oh yeah, you got on on your mind little kid?" Elio asked Diether." "No I—" "That's it then, we'll be doing it my way." Elio said. "Stop it." I told them. Both of them looked at me and saw me holding a piece of paper. "I have concluded and deduced on where should we go. After all the clues I figured out which way to go." I told them. "For real?" Diether asked. "Yes I am not joking." I told them. "Let's go now then." Elio said. "But first tell us where did that paper come from" Diether asked me. "Oh this is a map." I told them. "I have actually mastered creating illusions that can turn into reality for even a minute." I told them. "The island of experiences must have taught you a lot of things." Elio told me. "I guess it did." I told him. I started pointing directions and we all walk towwrds where I point. There is no doubt about the directions I am giving though, I am sure that this is the correct path We ended up infront of a narrow cave with pure darkness inside. There were shallow and soft sounds that makes the place a pittle creepier but ignoring that fact, this is where the snow goblins should be staying. ----------- [Author's Note] I decided to divide this chapter into two because it will be really long and that it makes my device hang uo becausw of too many words. Thank you! Part 2 shall be released hopefully within 24 hours. :) --------------
