Chapter Sixteen As soon as she arrived at one of her smaller shelters, Sabrina let her mind wander. She’d woken up that morning with such a suffocating feeling of dread. It had been a long time since she’d felt that way. But the white-cold terror was back. Why had the dream returned? Why was she still so frightened now? It seemed irrational. No wild animal had tried to take over the shelter, and she’d had a couple of months of relative peace. And though she was sheltering a fugitive, the girl herself posed no perceivable threat. Also, there had been no sign of Pier Francesco Visconti’s hunter, Niccolo Calderone, since arriving in this country. She shuddered at the thought of the reptilian man.
