34 Braydac was standing outside the door the next morning when it swished open. I’d woken up wondering how I’d even fallen asleep after what had happened the day before. And my stomach was reminding me I’d skipped dinner. The left side of my face had looked terrible in the bathroom mirror. A bruise the shape of Madhur’s hand had formed across my cheek and my eye was slightly swollen. I imagined both sides looking like that and was glad that he’d slapped the same cheek.
