Failed Proposal

“So where to we go right now?” Rupert asks when Xerxes asked them to change and tidy themselves. “Shave those beards off as well. Where are we going? To the influential people in the village. We are going to get funds into making the weapons and tools that we need for when we start to tread beyond the portal.” Xerxes said as the two immediately dress themselves with fancy clothes and shave off the beards that they wasted so long to grow.

After a few minutes the two are ready to go. “Who is the influential person near our place?” Xerxes asked as the two looks at each other and pointed at the tall building overlooking everything around it. ‘So that building huh? What made the owner of that building rich?’ he thinks to himself. “We are going there right now.” Xerxes said as he takes the lead and Ramirez ask is he has any plan on what to tell and make them fund them for the said tools that Xerxes is going to make. “There is no plan. We are just going there to talk to them and nothing else.” He said as they continue to walk.

“They are going to accept proposal just trust me.” He says with a smile on his face.

A while later

“Denied Mr. Xerxes, I know that you have accumulated fame in the past by saving everyone from that incident but its different now. I can’t just believe in you saying that you have an idea how to make a weapon that can fire projectiles. There is just no way! And that thing about the sharpest sword, that’s just ridiculous. There is no way that a sword can cut a bark in half, you have to be at least stronger than an ox to achieve that feat!!” Xerxes’s proposal flopped.

The first person they thought would be willing to take on their proposal flat out declined the offer saying that the things he said were really ambitious and too dreamy. The three got kicked out of the building when Rupert and Ramirez argued with the owner after calling their master a failure and useless.

“To think that that fatso would have the guts to call you that way. He must he taught a lesson.” Ramirez said with an angry tone, being the once who is easily angered by simple things if it includes Xerxes, Rupert tried to stop him but gets dragged on after losing his cool demeanor.

Despite that, the three did not lose hope and traveled around the village to talk to the influential person that they thought would help them. But much to their disappointment, everyone in their village despise and calls their idea dreamy and not achievable.

The three sat in a park where kids play to their hearts content and stare at them blankly as they enjoy themselves. “Those bastards! To think that they would belittle you that way. They must be courting death!” Ramirez said as Rupert tries to calm him down. “Stop it Ramirez, we can’t change their minds much less change their attitude towards us.”

‘I baited them with not two but three items that is considered to be the simplest and easy to make things in the future but why aren’t they taking the bait?’ Xerxes thinks to himself as he clench his fist. “So where are we going next. Surely there is a person out there that would consider funding your project master.” Rupert said as Xerxes calls it a day.

“Let’s stop today. We should not push ourselves a lot more. We need to rest.” He said as the two agrees and they all went back to their home.

The next few days, the three traveled to the other villages trying to change the influential persons minds and told them about the inventions that would change the wait people will hunt in the portal but to no avail, none of the listened to him and drive them away before Xerxes could utter a word.

Xerxes sees a pattern in their behaviors and concluded that they have all conspired against him. Seeing no more reason to stay, they all went back home, empty handed. With no other people willing to fund his inventions, Xerxes made some of them himself and with the help of the two who loyally follows everything that he tells them to do.

A month later

“Are you sure this is going to be effective master?” Ramirez asked as he stares at the tube like metal he have in his hands. “That is a prototype and we are going to the portal to test it out.” Xerxes already explained to them what the metal tube is for and told them how to use it.

A man from one of the influential person tasked him to follow the three who just entered the portal. “Is the boss really insane? The three brought only tube like things inside the portal.” He said to himself as he enters the portal and saw the three running towards the direction where kobolds are usually seen.

‘What are they planning to do?’ he thinks to himself as he stalks them from afar. Then to his surprise, the three stops and hides themselves from the kobolds and readies their weird weapons. ‘What are they doing? He saw the three inserting inside the tube and lights something in their hands.

Then he saw Xerxes points the tube on one of the kobolds then.

BOOOM!

A loud explosion echoes throughout the forest and alerted some of the kobolds when one of them immediately falls to the ground. Ramirez and Rupert then fired shots after one another as the spy looks at them in awe after seeing the weapons that they used to himself. “What is that thing? How did they kill kobolds that easily?!” he mutters to himself as loud explosions reach his ears.

“These weapons are amazing master. The work is hard and smelly but the weapons it produced is greater than I thought!” Rupert said as they cleared the kobold camp in just a matter of minutes. “Well, we are going to call this guns.” Xerxes said as Ramirez is staring at the weapon in awe. “Those bastards will definitely regret not funding the project once they see these!” he said as he laughs hysterically after their victory.

The spy then hid after the three started hauling their preys and tie them altogether. “The boss should know of this. The weapons they made are dangerous and useful!” he talks to himself as he gets away from the thee and hides near the portal to wait for the time for him to go back on the other side.

 The three continues to hunt everything that is sought out by merchants until the time for them to return has come. The spy got back first and reports everything that he saw to his boss who is shocked about what he heard and demands to make some preparations while the three drags their hunt to the other side and sell them in the market where merchants flock.

“Woah! To think that we could make a fortune with just these weapons alone.” Ramirez said as he caress the gun that Xerxes made using his memory. “Well, we are going to develop that weapon so that we should not load it for too long. That way, we can fire more bullets in a far more rapid pace.” Xerxes said as the two immediately gets excited a they reach their home.

And to their surprise, they see a familiar face standing just beside the door, Mr. Han, the hunter that they helped a few decades ago waiting for them anxiously and by the moment he saw them walking, a huge smile appears on his face.
