“Yeah- the ones with the knife wounds? I did that?” Xerxes immediately admitted without even denying it. The authorities are quite surprised for when he deliberately admitted that he is responsible for the deaths of those people. “Eh? Are you really the one that is responsible?” the head ask and Xerxes confirms. “Yes, it was self defense though, the brother of the commissioner, one of the survivor from the monsters’ rampage was with me when they tried to kill me. But I made him walk past the portal first before he gets dragged in the fight.” Xerxes added as the authorities shakes their heads.
“Sir, we want you to come with us.” One of the authorities said but Xerxes declines coming with them. “I’m sorry but I can’t. I only defended myself so I don’t see a reason for me to even come with you to wherever you wan to drag me in. And if you want to ask me if I knew them then the answer is no, I don’t. There is a lot of people that wants my head for whatever reason so I don’t trust other people that easily. The last time we hired someone, they tried to kill me right after a few hours later. So I don’t trust anyone of you at all.” Xerxes said and the eye brows of one of the authorities strains after hearing his words.
“What are you saying? Are you telling us that you can’t trust the law?” the angered authority ask with a bit of anger behind his tone but Xerxes just stares at him nonchalantly. “Yeah I don’t. The last time we went to the authorities for help, we learned that they are bribed so I guess the law is useless.” Xerxes adds and the authority wants to argue with Xerxes but the head stops his subordinate from uttering another word.
“Let’s stop here. There is no reason for us to take him in since there are many of them that died and it’s funny that one man was able to deal with them. So I guess it’s unreasonable for us to do so.” The head then bows his head and ask for forgiveness for his subordinate’s rudeness. “We will stop here. I apologize for the trouble. We will leave now.” The head said and leaves first and the others follows behind him.
One of the personnel beside the head ask the head if he is alright and questions his decision. “Are we just going to let him be? He is a murderer! He killed those people and admits if deliberately. Isn’t that enough evidence to take him in?” he said but then the head stops walking and speaks to him. “Are you an i***t? It was ten versus one and he still lives. No matter how you look at it, its unreasonable for us to bring him in. the numbers of the dead bodies just confirms it that it is self defense. If we forced him in to coming with us we would be the one in trouble!” the head says but his subordinate insist and he ends up slapping him back to his senses.

‘What an i***t. Does he really think that it would be good to do something like that? We would find ourselves ropes tied to our necks.’ The head says to himself and continues to walk to avoid attention from onlookers. “Was that really fine master? Should be follow them?” Rupert ask but Xerxes stops him from doing something rash. “Nah, forget them. There are much more important things that we should be doing. We are just going to do just that. With that much new factors inside the portal, we need to change the services that we offer. Otherwise we are just going to throw our lives away.” Xerxes said and the two immediately understands his concern and so they stop persisting.
Xerxes calls on to the others and held a meeting about the new things that will happen in their shop which last for a few hours as the others also state their concerns and disapproval. “I think we should just stop the commissions for now and learn and solve the new factors that had emerged before taking more commissions just as you suggested.” Samantha says to Xerxes who also agrees with the point in her suggestion. “I also think that is really needed. though the safe route that we always use is somehow safer than anything, with other people using it, they might try to attract other monsters for laying an ambush there because of the huge numbers that uses that road.”
“A crowd of people are easy to spot even in lush areas and the spot is a good place for monsters like orcs and other slightly intelligent creatures. “ Xerxes added as Rupert also thinks that the possibility is high. “So are we going to do an examining party this time? When are we going to start?” Rupert ask. “Yes, that would be the first thing we should do. We are also going to need the help of Yusaf and the others. They live in that place so they might have a good idea where to make a new safe route. I will also try to make contact with the people from the tribe of the old man. They might know some thing or two.” Xerxes added and the others agree but then Cynthia raise another concern.
“What about us? With the problem of the authorities, I doubt that they will leave us be along with the other people that wants to have your head.” She said as Xerxes smiles. “About that. I have already made some things that would help you guys take care of problems while we are away in work. We will teach you how to use the weapons that we are using for your safety.” Xerxes said as Britt and Berto along with Samantha gets excited after hearing what Xerxes said to them.
“We will start tomorrow so you guys better be in good shape.” Xerxes then smiles maliciously.
