That night in time for dinner, everyone is eerily while eating, Rupert and Ramirez are wondering why they are acting like that because they are usually talking over every meal. ‘I wonder what is going on? Did something happened during their free time earlier?’ Rupert thinks to himself as he turns to look at Xerxes who is also calm about the atmosphere. “Guys- did something happened? Why are you all so gloomy?” Rupert ask but none of them answered him.
‘That’s weird, something really is strange about their behavior right now.’ he now turns to Ramirez but just as he expect, he doesn’t let it bother him. ‘Am I the only one that is conscious of the atmosphere around us?’ he thinks to himself and then sighs in disbelief. ‘Well, whatever. They will tell us about it later on.’ Rupert continues to eat his food despite the swirl of thoughts in his head but then, out of nowhere , Xerxes broke the ice.
“Were you all able to enjoy your free time?” Rupert then gets filled with life after hearing that his master initiated the conversation but their reaction surprised him even more. ‘What?’ the feeling of dread appears on their faces when Xerxes asked them. “It was not just as we expected so we did not get to enjoy our time that much.” Samantha is the first one to answer him but with a shaky tone. Rupert sees this and finally realize what is going on. “Well, you won’t be able to enjoy your free time that much if you did not go there right?” Xerxes said and surprised everyone.
“I want to talk to all of you after this. So please proceed to the meeting room after this. Forget about the dishes, Ramirez can take care of it while we talk.” Everyone hesitates to immediately finish their meals and Xerxes already expected for them to do that. ‘Yes, I guess we need to inform them about the threats that almost took their lives.’ All of them slowly ate their dinner away, except for Samantha. She easily finished her food and put the plate on the sink. “I will be waiting for you guys there so you better hasten up.” Samantha says with a smile and hurriedly left the dining room.
TAP! TAP! TAP! TAP! PANT! PANT! PANT! PANT! PANT!
‘There is no need for you to be afraid Samantha, I am pretty sure sir Xerxes has some reasons why he did that.’ Her heart is beating faster than normal when she stops behind the door of the dining room. “Why did I have to act like that in front of him. No- that should be fine. I need to show him that I can somehow at least put up with those kind of things.” She softly tells herself as she walks away from the dining room without making any sound.
After seeing that Samantha had already left, they immediately have the urge to finish their food. All is done except for Britt, Rupert gave him a large portion since he is the big eater one from the entire group. ‘Why did this have to happen? Those stares- they might kill me if I stay any longer!’ he thinks to himself as he force the food inside his mouth up to the point that he is about to vomit everything back outside but his fear of Xerxes and Rupert presence is far greater than his will to stay inside the room alone.
“Thank you for the foog-! Cough! Cough! Cough! Cough! GUAAAAAAAH!” and he ends up throwing everything up after all. Rupert gives him a glass of water. “You i***t! Why did you have to act like that? Are you crazy? You want to die that young?” Rupert said as gulps down the water in one chug. “I’m! I’m sorry!” Britt cries as he hugs Rupert.
With Britt calming down after a few attempts, the three of them entered the meeting room and found that the rest of the employees are staring at where the man whose shot might be. “Looks like everyone is here. We are really sorry for the delay since Britt here had some problems to be solved with.” Xerxes says as Britt reveals his exhausted and horrible face.
Xerxes sits in front of them with a stern look as he glances at every single one of their faces, with fear, shock and dread mixed on their faces, Xerxes lets out a sigh of disappointment. “Hah! If only Rupert is a little more careful. We could have hid the incident from everyone but then again it is my fault because I was not thorough enough.” Xerxes says with a smile but then Cynthia’s bluntness broke everyone’s silence.
“So are you saying that you have been doing that kind of thing the entire time? Aren’t you just killers at that point?” her fellow colleagues stares at her in awe, commending her for her braveness. And Xerxes listens to her without cutter her off. “Yeah, so does anyone else have something to say? I am all ears.” Xerxes said as he turns to everyone but only some of them are willing to speak up. Bianca raises her hand and Xerxes allows her to speak.
“Why did you have to do those dreadful things? Killing people is not something that should be overlooked by law.” She says and Xerxes also agrees. “That’s a fair point. Who else?” Britt raise his hand but then puts it back down. “Was that the only way to deal with them? I know you may have you reasons so please share it with us.” Samantha then added as the rest of them agrees.
“Okay then after hearing what you all said. I feel guilty for not telling you about it from the beginning. The three of us, me, Rupert, and Ramirez decided to keep this away from you so that you all can enjoy your lives as innocent adults but now that its come to this point. I should tell you all why.” The atmosphere inside the room darkens as they ready yourselves to listen to what he is about to say.
“Well, then. The cook is still fresh from your minds right? Turns out she is not really a cook but an assassin. She infiltrated our shop successfully without us even knowing. And the ingredients that made you all do those weird and funny noises are on me, I changed the ingredients after reviewing it for myself but my estimates are off so you end up staying more inside the bathroom. The food that she taught Bianca was supposed to poison all of you when we left.”
Xerxes words made everyone froze in place as they realize that they could have died if Xerxes did not intervene. “And that is not all. Remember the man that we hired to look after the horse and carriage? They took him as hostage and threatens his life but thankfully we are fast enough to deal with them, with the help of some people of course.” Cynthia rose from her seat. “So you are saying that we have been misunderstanding everything?” Xerxes nods his head.
“Yup, that much sums it up. And that is all, there are no other explanations for it. They have tried countless times and failed as soon as they set their plans to motions. Its just like that time with you Samantha.” Samantha then finally understands that all of it was a misunderstanding on their part.
After hearing further details about their movement in the past few days. Seeing that they three are only looking out for them. They apologized but Xerxes tells them that there is no need to apologize at all. “Well, you all should go and rest now that everything is clear. I hope that you do as we ask, you are my employees and your safety is my priority.” Xerxes said as he opens the door and wish everyone a good night.
“You can go ahead Rupert. I think I need to think about something.” Xerxes said as the rest of the employees have not left yet. Heeding Xerxes words, Rupert leaves the room with only Samantha remaining and she is hesitant to leave the room and turns to Xerxes. “Is there anything you want from me Samantha? Is something troubling you?” he asks after seeing that Samantha is somehow hesitant to leave the room. “I do have something to say. Why are you all carrying those burdens alone when you can share it with us as well?” Samantha ask and Xerxes repeats shat he said before but Samantha stops him.
“No- that is just so that you can feed your own ego. We did not wish to be protected, we are adults and we have an idea how dangerous the world is but thanks for protecting me but it is the last time. I will not ask you to protect me in the future. Good night.” Samantha says as she close the door.
“What a stubborn woman. I don’t remember her mother to be like that- ah! Whatever!” Xerxes collects himself and focus on everything that he had seen inside the portal so far and writes them in a giant book hidden under the floor.
The next day when the girls woke up, they saw Britt on the ground floor of the shop covered in blood. “KYAAAAAA!”
