The two had a long time speaking to each other before Xerxes could ask what is the reason for the ex-hunter’s visit. “Was there suppose to be reason to visit a friend that I have seen for a long time?” Mr. Han asked with a smile and Xerxes concedes defeat. Rupert and Ramirez were also glad to see the old hunter that always had their backs when Xerxes disappeared inside the portal.
The four have a hearty talk and the old hunter told then the purpose of his visit. “You see, there was word about your travel from village to village and some people were talking bad about you so I had to visit you and check if what they said were the truth but from what I can see, they were wrong.” He said after seeing their successful expedition.
“What did you lot hunt that there is not even a scratch on your faces?” the old man ask and Ramirez immediately shows intense excitement but he remembers that his master should all have the glory and suppress his excitement.
“That is because of the very inventions that the people are calling me a names for. Rupert and Ramirez saw the results themselves and were pretty excited to tell the people that did not fund us but I wonder why none of them said a word, Ramirez was the kind of person that would jump in the mud first.” Xerxes made a little glance and saw that Ramirez is holding up his excitement.
[So they were thinking about me huh? These guys really are a handful.] he thought to himself as he smiles. The old man hunter gasp after hearing the words as he stares in daze when the three grab the very weapons that Xerxes was referring to.
The three are holding in their arms are long and peculiar looking weapons that looks the same as the other ones. The old hunter gasp in awe and then immediately regains his composure and lets out a smile of relief.
“To think that those bastards who were talking bad about him were wrong. They must have realized something but there is no reason for me to doubt the very man that saved out lives back in the day.] he thinks to himself as he excuse himself and went on to grab something from his carriage and by the moment he enters the house again, he carries with him a chest so heavy that it needs two of his men to carry it inside.
“What is this Mr. Han?” Xerxes asks as the men puts it in the table and leaves right away after their job is finished. “Remember when you helped me get back my farm? I was able to cultivate it properly because of the things that Mr. Sipin brought in to help me with the farm. I used the farm really well and I was able to establish myself in our village. Now I own almost every farm in my village, I was looking forward for you to come and visit me but you stopped in the village before mine. I can’t say I am a bit disappointed but I sure am glad to see you again.” Mr. Han said as he smiles at the three.
“You are quite stubborn so I have no other choice but to leave the chest here. You can use it as you wish and a replacement for all the people that doesn’t want to fund your inventions.” A smile on Rupert and Ramirez face appears but Xerxes is hesitant to use the money that the old man had been saving up for a long time.
The old man senses this and tells him. “Don’t hesitate to use it young master, you are my benefactor and I will do everything I can to be of service to you until my dying last breathe. Well then, I will have to go ahead first since my wife must be looking for me. I told her that I would only go for a walk after all.” Mr. Han smiles as he leaves the house with a grateful bow.
The three were happy that their money problem has already had a solution so they hired workers immediately and started the production of a few things that Xerxes had envisioned and the things that he finds important while venturing deeper into the portal.
Some of the people that denied to help Xerxes and his experiment sent out people to make amends to Xerxes but every single one of them were denied and their apologies were not accepted.
A few days later, the three get a hold of the news that Mr. Hans’s wife a few days ago, the same day when he gave them the chest loaded with money and then follows behind his wife and were buried together in the farm which now belongs to their children.
It was then that they understood what he meant by going home. They felt guilty that they had rob his wife of his time when she is having her last breathe. “The old man did not tell us anything about it so that it will not trouble us with our plans. He is also stubborn like he had always been.” Ramirez said in front of his grave as tears run down his cheeks.
Rupert and Xerxes could not face his grave properly and one of Mr. Han’s approached them and told them that he had always been indebted to him. “He was always looking for a way to pay his debt to you and found one when he heard hat you returned from the portal after so long but at the same time my mother got sick.” The child stop in tears after reminiscing the past few days that their parents had been with them.
“He was now caught in between but my mother saw that her end is near and tells my father to go and meet you, my father left in tears but he has to follow my mother’s last wish so he went to meet you. It was the very moment that my mother breath her last. And after meeting with you, my father died a few days late following mother.”
Xerxes could not bare the guilt and fell on his knees, all of them wept on the graves of Mr. Han and his wife.
