FWOOOOSH SHSHSHSHSH!
They wait for the great body of water disappear and just like Kusaf said, the water really does move back and leaves the once land filled with water into dry land. ‘The water really is moving back. I don’t recall low tide of this bad. It’s as it the water just really move on their own.’ Xerxes think to himself as he signals the two to start moving and bows his head to Kusaf who is standing beside the door of their makeshift shelter.
The elf stare as the three as they move slowly to the island in the middle of what was once an ocean. “Humans huh? To think that there are also odd ones in their race just like ours. We really can’t judge everyone even if they are an inferior species.” Kusaf mutters to himself as few figures appear behind him.
“Kusaf, the chief has been looking for you. We saw the smokescreen yesterday but we did not see you everywhere.” An elf said as it appear besides Kusaf and then turns to the three who are slowly making their way to the island. One of the elves points it’s bow to them but Kusaf told him off. “But Kusaf, aren’t they humans? We must kill them- those disgusting creatures.” The elf continues as Kusaf pulls him.
“I am quite fond of those humans and you should give them credit, I am alive and kicking because of them. Otherwise you would have collected my mushed remains yesterday.” Kusaf said with a stern tone but one of the elves voice it’s opinion. “What if they are just trying to use you. Have you forgotten how barbaric humans can be?” Kusaf smiled and points in the direction behind them.
“Haha! If they really are using me then I don’t think they have an idea what to use me for and besides, I think they are different from the others we have encountered in this world. What do you see back there?” the elves turned and sees nothing so they shook their heads and tells him nothing. “See? Those guys made something that even you elves can’t see.” Kusaf walks and touches in the mound looking structure behind them. “Even with the moonlight giving us light, you still have a hard time spotting this. This is what makes them different.” Kusaf said as he opens the door and left the elves in utter shock.
“Impossible-! A door? But it’s just weeds and mound, how come they were able to do something like that?!” one of the elves exclaims but one of them immediately covers his mouth. “You don’t need to sound so loud. You want those monsters to trample us dead?” the elf apologized and then takes a peak inside. “Woah~ this is pretty well made but its still rough on the edges. Anyone can make this.” The elf mutters to himself after seeing the what’s inside.
“Hehehe! But do you know that they only made this just a few hours? They also have those peculiar weapons, long rod like weapons. They said it can fire some round metal object, one of them said that it can kill a kobold with one hit.” The elves gasp in surprise. “I know, I find it hard to believe as well since kobold hides are really thick. Not even our arrows can piece it easily. I want to observe them more since they are quite odd for human beings. Especially the man named Xerxes, he is the mind of their group.” Kusaf said as the figure in the distance disappeared.
“Looks like they’re in.” Kusaf said as he takes out a telescope from his pocket. “Kusaf, what is that?” one of the elves said and Kusaf explains that it is given to him by the man named Xerxes. “He calls this a telescope, he said I can see in great distances with this and surely it works.” He said as he hands the telescope to them. The elves take turns and see through the telescope. “Wow, I can really see from great distances- huh? What are they doing? Long rod like weapons-!”
“I want you two to be hide yourselves. I want to try and observe them and listen if it is possible to understand their language.” Rupert and Ramirez nod their heads and did what Xerxes told them when they were walking towards the island. “Find a high place and fire after one another, don’t fire at the same time. Do it in intervals.” Rupert keeps muttering the words the their master told them as they sees his figure move amidst the weeds and trees.
“Did you really think that the master will be successful?” Ramirez ask as Rupert stares at him with a disappointed expression. “What do I always say to you? Don’t doubt the master’s words.” Rupert said as Ramirez silences.
‘I got close to their camp so what now?’ he thinks to himself but then he sees the scattered bones around the camp and some of them look like they are from different kinds of animals and creatures. ‘They really did devour everything-!’ from the corner of his eyes, he saw something that confirms the claims of Kusaf a while earlier. A skull that belongs to a human being sits neat the entrance of the camp, right beside the feet of the statue of liberty.
‘To think that I would see and visit the statute of liberty but you don’t look like the iconic figure you were once.’ Xerxes wants to move forward but when he takes a single step, the sound of crushed dried bones reach his ear. He instinctively looks at his feet but sees nothing but weeds and rocks, so he turns back and sees a crowd of humans standing behind him. ‘Looks like I got caught. Just kidding. This is the fastest way to see if there are still people from my world inside their camp.’ He thinks to himself as the humans point their spears at him.
To his surprise, their spears are made of corroded metals and made him realize that they don’t have much modern weapons. Xerxes raise both of his arms in the air. “Please don’t kill me. I mean no harm.” The humans then points their spear even more close to him after speaking to them. “What are you doing here?” the human ask Xerxes so he answers them . “I was searching for someone missing for a few months when I stumble and saw you people so I think that he might have taken refuge here since the monsters are quite terrifying.” He said as the natives withdraw their weapons but had the strange and weird expression on their faces.
“If that’s the case then please follow us. Our chief might know the person you are looking for so that you can find whoever it is a lot faster.” The humans then leads him inside the building that was made beside the statue of liberty. “the chief is like a guide in this world and knows a lot of things so he must have an idea.” The man said with a trembling lips and shaking hands.
‘Kuru huh? Looks like they are in their last breathe.’ Xerxes said as he looks back at the other humans and saw that some of them are using the spears as cranes. Xerxes then smelled something familiar. ‘This scent. The perfume.’ He then turns his head and saw a room filled with women, skinny and also trembling as well but even with their situation, they still look at Xerxes in a seductive way.
“The chief is inside.” One of the natives said as they push Xerxes inside the room and almost immediately Xerxes’ nose reacted to the bad smell inside the room but acts not to be disgusted since he might anger the chief of the natives but to his surprise, the chief is a woman and her condition is not as different as the guards guarding outside. “Hello young man. What is it that brought you here.” The chief said with a pleasant tone and so greets Xerxes and he greets her back.
“I’m really sorry to intrude in your island but I am looking for a missing person that had been missing for a month now.-!” Xerxes said but then he stops when he saw the drool in the chief’s mouth but it looked to him that the chief is unaware of it. “Yes, many people come and seek my help so I will try my best to help you find that person.” The chief said with a smile.
Xerxes fake his happiness after hearing what the chief said. “Really? Thank you very much! I really need to find him right away!” Xerxes said with an enthusiastic expression. “Don’t worry, you might find that person soon.” The chief said as one of the guards struck Xerxes behind his head.
BAM!
Xerxes falls to the ground as the guards grab his arms. “Put him to where the others are. He wants to look for someone huh? Hahahahah!” the chief orders as the guards carry him to a chamber where other people they capture stays inside.
KUCHUG!
The door then locks after they toss Xerxes inside the chamber. After seeing that the guards have already left, he stands up and lit something in his hand only to see the faces of men that lost their hopes in getting out of this place alive. “Is the person named Carlos here with you?” Xerxes asked but none of them answer, then all of the sudden a trembling hand slowly raise from the crowd of people. “I-I a-aam Carlos.” A weak and dying man said as he raise his body up.
His face then lit up after seeing Xerxes’ face, signifying that he recognizes him just by seeing his face. “Is that so? Then this is your lucky day, I came here to bring you home.” Xerxes said with confidence.
