“So it was a cat all along. Why does it have to rack the whole place like that? How did that even get here in the first place?” Rupert says after seeing the cat licking it’s paws inside one of the empty rooms on the second floor. Everyone else is baffled since they did not have any instance like this happening in the past.
“Well, since everything is fine. I guess we can all go back to sleep.” Rupert tells the others as the commotion ended but deep inside everyone’s mind. They remain restless and ends up spending most of their time looking out for some suspicious and weird sounds around the shop.
Morning came and Xerxes and Britt arrived along with the craftsman that they hired. “Were ba- what is wrong with your faces? You all look really tired and sleepless for some reason.” He glance at everyone’s faces and scoffs.
“Tell me what happened.” Rupert looks at the other and ask for their approval before speaking. “You see master. What happened is.”
CHATTER! CHATTER!CHATTER! CHATTER!
Rupert tells him the entire story and Xerxes burst in laugher after hearing it while the others employees find it annoying for him to have reacted that way. “Sorry. I just can’t stop myself. I was not expecting something like that would make you all alert. But it’s a good thing that you are all aware. What’s not good though is the fact that you all stayed awake. That is dangerous.” Xerxes points out their flawed decision.
“If you are all that disturbed then you should have stayed in two rooms that are beside each other and have some persons to be on guard for a few hour and replace those persons so that they can also rest. If a killer managed to infiltrate the shop then you are all good as dead. With sleepless bodies, you will all end up weak and easy to be handled.” Rupert apologizes to the others that he is not able to suggest something like that. The others also apologized for not being able to tell that they are worried and so they forgive each other for their flaws.
“Now that everything is settled. I would like to introduce to you all the craftsman that we hired. Ferdrick Faral. I know Bianca already know this man and it might help him feel at ease.” Ferdrick does a gentle bow to everyone who then vows back after a brief delay.
“I know, he doesn’t look like he had the best rest in the world. He is basically looking like you guys but a lot worse, Bianca and Britt knows exactly why he looks restless on another level so we’ll leave it at that. You can all take this time and get to know each other while I go out and buy something for everyone to eat. Mr. Ferdrick, you can take this time to pick your room and the place where you want your workshop to be.” Xerxes says the second before he leaves the shop.
“Its nice seeing you again miss Bianca, it was a surprise for me when I heard that both of you decided to go on a journey but I wasn’t expecting that you both work here.” Ferdrick says as he greets Bianca whom he is quite familiar with. A few moments later, Rupert introduces himself along with the others. “We will be working together from now on, welcome to the shop.” Rupert says as he volunteers to give Ferdrick a tour to the shop but before they can move to each rooms.
Ferdrick stops in front of the table where everyone seemed to have placed the weapons that they were using last night. In a daze, Ferdrick tries to reach on to the nearest weapon, a flintlock but then halts and turns to Rupert. Asking him about the weapons with an enthusiastic face. “That? It fires a projectile at the opponent. Usually it would take two shots or three to be able to kill the enemy but there is a time that I saw master use a single bullet to take down a enemy. And that is through his head or any vital parts of the human body.”
Rupert explains as the craftsman shakes wit excitement and jumps in the air in joy. “Kekekeke! So the thing that I will be working on is an improved version of this thing. Interesting! Interesting indeed! Xerxes said that I can take a flintlock and dismantle it so that I can get an idea how it works hence giving me a clue how to make the improved version. Brilliant! This is overwhelmingly amazing!” he shout as if he lost his mind after discovering the first weapon that looked like something like a spear but shoots projectile instead.
The others who are sill not familiar with him turns to the two who immediately shrug their shoulders, telling them silently, ‘He had always been like that so its better to be used to it now.’ Instead of a tour of the shop, Ferdrick instead spend his time asking Rupert and anyone knowledgeable in using the weapons. “This blade, is insanely sharp. Just looking at the blades alone tells me that it will be able to cut through humans easily. That is just sick.” Ferdrick says to himself as he decides on what to pick for himself as a weapon but decided not to pick one in the end.
“I’ll just have to ask Xerxes later if I will be able to create my own weapon.” He then rubs his hands like he’s seen an opportunity arising to be able to make a perfect weapon for himself. ‘The ultimate weapon of destruction, that would be the name of the weapon that I will create for myself. Kekekeke!’ everybody watches at him as he crawls in the corner of the room and giggles to himself.
“He is definitely weird after all.” Cynthia says without holding back but surely enough it was not loud enough for Ferdrick to hear. “Well, no matter if you are beside him and yell. He will still not be able to hear you. That’s just the kind of person he is while working.” Britt says and his sister agrees to his remarks without any hint of hesitation. “So he will be the first person to die when the shop catches on fire because its really hard to catch his attention?” Cynthia says out of nowhere that made everyone else uncomfortable.
“That is really a bad thing to say even for you Cynthia.” Samantha says with pity on her eyes. “Yeah- that is quite dark I guess.” Bianca added. “If he is that dedicated and engrossed to his work then all we have to do is assist him in everything we could. Besides, while we are away and there is not much to do, you guys can just help him in some things, maybe even food.” Rupert says which made Britt respond like he remembered something in the past.
“I almost forgot, there was a time when he was engrossed into making this thing that he did not get to eat for a few days. By the time we went to check on him, he is already on the verge of death yet he still continues to create the thing that he wants make. Some of us got worried and so we have to use force to separate him from his workshop and forced him to eat. But even then he is still thinking of his work.” Britt tells everyone and made them drop their jaw in amusement in dedication to his work.
“Wow- I have never heard someone work his ass off like that. I thought I was a hardworking person but I can’t even compare to him if he goes that far for his work.” Cynthia says while admiring Ferdrick for his dedication. A few moments later and Xerxes arrive with a load of food with him in a cart. “Did anything happened while I was away?” Xerxes asked after seeing the concerned expression on everyone’s faces.
After a hearty meal that Xerxes bought, he asked the craftsman if he had decided on the room that he wants to stay in and the place for his workshop to be built but the excited craftsman said that he can live in his workshop and said nothing else. Surprised and confused at the same time, he turns to Rupert and the others for a good explanation. “Let’s just say that he got really excited after seeing the weapons, master.” Rupert says and everyone agrees indefinitely without question.
Seeing that they have already made some interactions with each other. Xerxes proceeds to tell Ferdrick of their course of action now that he is in their group. “We will start making some useful tools that would help us greatly in our commissions. And just as I promised, I will show you the blueprints that I have left here. But we can go to that later, for now. I want to tell everyone that everything will change once Ferdrick manage to create some of the things that draw. People will want to have a piece of it, so I expect everyone to be vigilant and train whenever you have free time.”
“Because once people know that we have the technology to go beyond and roam inside the portal entirely, this place will be filled with blood but I hope that blood doesn’t belong to any of you.” Xerxes added with a stern look on his face. After their brief meeting, Xerxes showed Ferdrick the rest of the blueprint that he had. The craftsman could not believe his eyes and instead of running away because of the complexity of the each and every single one of the blueprints, his next words surprised Xerxes.
“Can I really make them all?” all along with a huge smile on his face.
