Growing up she always felt out of place and so she hides from the sight of anyone who will notice her mostly that of Adrian Brown her immediate elder brother who hated her for been born a girl child and felt she bought chaos to there family but under all those hate she felt save with her big sister Rose and there elderest brother Adam Brown and his beautiful wife Clara
Lilly woke up every morning with a heavyweight on her chest and the thoughts of another morning, feeling helpless woke up walking quietly through the house
Lilly had learned early how to be invisible in her own home, but on this morning woke up did her chores and headed for school, good morning Lilly, a classmate said the only one who tried making friends with her, good morning she replied are you read for the project she asked before she could reply Mrs George walked in, hello everyone our English project topic is( My story my life). She sat there confused until Margaret said You're so good at writing, " I asked Lilly. Yes, you are, just write what you feel, it echoes in her head, she knew how she felt could cause a storm, so she paused. As she got closed to the house that afternoon worry stayed with her as soon as she opened the gate the voice of Mrs Brown saying Lilly is that you, she answered yes mom, with a shaking voice, come here hurry go fetch me some water, she dropped her bag and headed out the door few steps out a shadow stood in front of her it was Adrian her worst nightmare in a person, good afternoon she said quietly and quickly she walked way as she got to the community tap she meet a long queue standing in with her bucket she heard the words
Flower, flowers, she turned, and there she was. Rose brown dropped her bucket and ran towards her and hugged her. She asked, Are you back! How long are you staying? When you're going back, can I go with you?
Rose looked at her, held her tight, and said What's wrong, flower? Is it Adrian again, right? Calm down, I'm back. I will set him straight, ok, picking up Lilly's bucket and putting her luggage in her tiny palms, let go home, flower. They had not yet stepped in when a voice cut through the compound, Lilly... you lazy girl, holding Rose's hand, shaking, Rose said It's ok, you're just fine. " They walked to the door and the Rose's voices said Mom stop scaring the child, while Lilly walked straight into her room to drop Rose's luggage, stood there a few minutes, and walked out
You are back, yes I am Mom
Mom, can I get something to eat Lilly asked
That's all you eat Mrs brown said
And Rose replied she was just asking for food don't talk to her like that
Just when the tension in the house started to reduce a loud voice called Lilly, Lilly guess who came
Her heart leaped for joy. She ran toward the door, and as it opened
Standing tall was Adam.
Adam, she screamed with so much joy.
Adam Brown, the eldest sibling, walked in with his heavily pregnant wife. Lilly hugged him tightly,
You’re here, she whispered, voice trembling.
Adam held her shoulders gently. Are you okay?
Lilly nodded too quickly.
Mom, Adam called out Good evening Why does she look so scared and in shock
Scared? Of what? Do I look like a monster? Mrs. Brown forced a laugh. She’s just excited you're home with her favorite sister in-law.
But Adam’s eyes went from his mother, to Lilly, then Rose, and he saw everything without being told.
Later that night, the tension exploded.
Adrian provoked Lilly again, pushed her, calling her names, but this time, Rose stood up towards Adrian, and Adam stepped between them; the house that had always covered Lilly’s pain finally heard it spoken aloud.
Enough, Adam shouted. She’s your sister, not your punching bag.
Even Mrs. Brown was silenced.
Lilly watched the scene from behind Rose, shaking, but for the first time, she felt safe and not alone.
That night, Lilly sat outside under the fading sky. When Rose carried her on her lap wrapping a shawl around her shoulders, murmuring
You’re not invisible, Flower, Rose said softly. And you’re not alone, not anymore.
Lilly leaned her head gently on her sister’s chest, breathing in the peace she rarely found inside the house.
Just maybe her home wasn’t safe now,
Just maybe her mother’s heart would soften over time she thought,
Maybe Adrian would always struggle with his anger and never accept her.
But this time she is safe, and at peace, Lilly felt the quiet promise settle inside her.
She would one day grow.
She would one day heal.
And she would not always remain the girl they treated like she didn’t belong.
She wasn’t just Flower because she was small and hurt.
She was a Flower because she would one day bloom and glow
