Fiona pov
The next day I woke up with a huge smile on my face. Years I have to feel like that. I take a shower, I get dressed and I go downstairs. My mom is already served breakfast.
“Good morning dad, mom,” I say and I give both of them one kiss.
“Good morning cupcake. You look happy” my dad says
“I am. Very happy and I’m starving”
“Pancakes are your favorite sweetie,” my mom tells me.
“Well? Why so happy? Is there a reason?” My dad asks
“Yes, but don’t worry. You will find out later today” My mom looks at me. She already knows my feelings for Jason.
“I have to go. See you at lunch” my dad says and he kisses my mom than me. When the front door closed my mom was looking at me.
“Is Jason? The reason that you smiling?”
“How do you know?”
“Come on Fiona. You saw him yesterday, I'm not stupid”
“You are a right mom. We talk, and there is a big possibility to stay so we say to try.”
“That’s a great sweetheart. I remember how much you liked him. And Jason all these years always asks how you are”
“He asked?”
“Yes. The only problem is Mark. If you talk to him and make him understand I am sure he will be ok. He loves you both of you”
“I know. We say that we go together to tell him” After breakfast, my mom left for the hospital. And I call to J
“Good morning love”
“Morning baby, how are you?” I ask him
“Great, I’m going to your dad right now. Do you want me to pick you up later to go to Mark?”
“Yes, call or text me the time. I will do some research for jobs.”
“Perfect, I will talk to some friends too”
“Ok, thanks again”
“You don’t have to thank me, love. I want you here too”
We hung up and I took my laptop for my research. New entries thank God in Florida but it’s fine. We are half an hour away, for start I can borrow a car. I sent my CV and continued research. My phone ring
“J?”
“Yes, love. In five minutes I'll be there”
“Ok, I will be outside” We hung up and took my bag. I check my makeup and hair in the mirror and go outside. Soon I see Jason's car stop in front of me.
“Hi,” I say and give him a kiss when I was inside the car
“Hi,” he says with a smile. He starts the car for Marks and Lilly’s house.
“How it goes with dad?”
“Perfect. He is cool. But if I hurt you I don’t want to know what is going to happen to
me” he says laughing
“I don’t worry about that” he kissed my hand
“You know everything about me. What I did this seven years. I will do anything to keep you here with me” We chat until Marks's house. We arrived and holding hands we rang the bell. Lilly opens the door and when he sees us holding hands she smiles.
“ Is this what I think it is?” We nod
“We are here for Mark.”
“Good luck,” she says happy for us. We enter inside and sit in the living room. Mark came after a while
“Hey, guys. What’s up?” Jason looks at me and he nods. He wants to talk first
“Mark I have to tell you something” Mark looks worried and he looks at both of us.
“Fiona? You are here for the same reason?”
“Yeah, the truth is we have to tell you something”
“Mark” Jason starts and takes my hand in his.
“I’m in love with Fiona. Always was. I tried to forget her, get over her but it was impossible. Since she was little you have forbidden us to ever look at her differently. I’m sorry that I didn't keep my word....”
“She is off-limits. You all knew that. You, Tony, and Sam”
“ I know but...”
“Damn it, Jason.”
“Mark ...” I begin to say
“No, I need a minute to deal with my best friend's betrayal.”
“Mark I don’t understand why you doing this. Ok, I was off-limits but you can control how we feel. I had a crush on Jason since I was a little girl. And every day it was growing. We try to hide it, we try to forget, we meet other people but that feeling is still there”
“ Exactly you meet other people. Do you know how many people Jason met before you?”
“ I don’t like the way you talk about your friend but yes I know. So and he how many people I met these years. Yesterday we talked about everything” he breathed heavily and left for the backyard
“I will go talk to him,” Jason says and I nod
“Do you want coffee?”
“Sure” I answer Lilly and we walk to the kitchen
“Give him little time. He will accept it” We chat a little as I watch Mark and Jason from the window arguing and yelling at each other. After a while, I see Mark hit Jason in the face. I stand up and go out.
“What the hell Mark?” I say and go to Jason so he touches his lips
“It’s fine. He is cool”
“So why did he hit you?”
“A warning in case I hurt you. To wait more worst” Mark says and they smile at each other.
“So all good?” I ask
“Yes. We talk, we argue but now we are good. Are you sure Fi that you want that?” I looked at him and I went near and hugged him.
“Thank you. I’m more than sure. Don’t worry Mark. I’m a big girl if it’s not working I will survive” Lilly served the coffee and then we left. Jason has to go to work and I go for a walk in the market. After a few hours, I go to the sheriff's office to see my dad and go together back in the house.
“Hey Dad”
“Hi cupcake” I got closer to give him a kiss
“So, Jason is the reason for your smile and your shining “
“Yeah, are you okay with that?”
“Cupcake he makes you look like that and he gives you one more reason to stay here. Of course, I’m ok” We chat until go home. Mum calls Jason to invite him for dinner. They are ok with me and Jason and I’m very happy about that.
‘I can't wait to see you at the dinner. I miss you love’ he texted me after lunch
‘I miss you too baby. Mom will cook your favorite.’ I text back and lay in my bed thinking of my J.
